This is a known system called midmac.
-
Thanks i fixed in the original. and about the hand you gave, it is not possible over 5NT, so partner has either Q♥ or Q♠
-
1♣-2♦ 2♥-2NT 3♣-3♦ 3♥-3♠ 4♣-4♦ 4♥-4♠ 4NT-5♥ 5♠-5NT 7♦ 2♦ = 8+ bal no 4M 2NT = 5 clubs 3♦ = 2335 3♠ = 6-7 in AKQ points 4♦ = 6 AKQ points 4♠ = odd number of Ks 5♥ = A or K in ♣(not both), A or K in ♥ (not both), no A or K in ♦ (or both) 5NT = no Q♣ north knows everything

Slam Points (3-2-1) in marginal positives
WGF_Flame replied to shevek's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
We play the same system but will be positive also with 2Qs. We also play king parity which might have solve this problem here but could lead you too high. those 1c-1d relay beginning 2 steps higher then normal aren't fun we even consider changing to natural. -
i love the idea of having both minors as unatural, will read more.
-
i lead spade. as I see it there are 2 options here: 1. they have 9 tricks in their 2 suits, in this case spade is better then heart, althogh diamond A is slightly better 2. partner has 1 trick in their suit, in such case if I lead spade I have the best chance to take 3 spades 1 diamond and 1 in partner hand.

for MikeH http://www.rpbridge.net/7g19.htm#13 rebid by responder
-
Pass for me at any vul. vul is critical on such decisions but imo this hand isnt enough even when nv.
-
I am not so sure the nat is better here. its true that opner pattern out might be good, but on the transfer way you have the advantage of knowing openers strengh. In genral it make sense that when responder bid GF in the nat way he will do fine, I mean this suppose to be that system best spot,(but even in it is not clear cut) but what about the hands that will begin with 2N in leb ? those will be much better with transfers i believe.
-
I think I am in better place here after the transfer than without it, even when I had GF with club support. compare transfers: 1♣-1♠ 2♥-2NT 3♦-3♥ to lebelzohl: 1♣-1♠ 2♥-3♣ 3♦-3♥ there are 2 differences, 1. we know opener has extra compare to the second one when he might have and might not have. 2. the NT side. the nt side will be offside for lebelzohl on other cases, more cases i think, here atleast we have some good chances that we are on the way to slam, and if not still responder is not that weak and he is more balance and might have the stopper in the 4th suit. agree that this isnt the transfers best point, but even here its doing fine, while when the breaking of the transfer will be the key to get to the right contract we will shine.

you mean hands with 54 and 15 hcp, didnt undrstand your comment before.
-
if partner double 1NT and its penalty in your system, and you got a very weak hand, than if you have a suit to bid like a 5 card suit you should probebly bid it. if your hand has not 5+ card suit, you can pass and hope partner got some extra or you can bid your lowerst suit and hope to servive. there is no garenty in either option, but i would try to pass most of the time with balance no 5 card suit hand and hope for the best.

I am sure I wasnt the first one who thought about this, reading Mike's reverse thread made me think that transfer could be superior after reverses. 1♦-1♠ 2♥ I think the main advantage of using 2nt+ as transfers would be when using what mike called 'weak' reverse system, something like 16+, since after something like 1♦-1♠ 2♥-3♣ opener will be able to bid 3♦ with minimum or anything else with GF. anyone play this ?

counting excercise
WGF_Flame replied to Fluffy's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
nice one thx. probebly also lesson for declarer. also it would be better if declarer played spade to the 10 instead of the 9, which would leave the option that partner has the 9 which allow promotion defence. as it is declare is known to have both the K and 10 of spade and therefore even without the count there is no alternative defence. -
nice hand. so what is the best line here ? my line is ruff, A♦,Q♠,diamond to the K
-
imo Leading club make sense but not at MP. At mp i would choose the QS but even heart or diamond are better than club.

what is your rebid after 1♣-1♠ ?

Is this forcing in 21st century Acol
WGF_Flame replied to Wackojack's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
1-4 forcing, 5 nf -
In a game forcing position either after a jump or a 2/1 GF auction, what does bidding the 4th suit shows ? is it natural ? semi natural ? artifitial like 4th suit forcing ? 1♥-1♠ 3♣-3♦ 1♠-2♦ 2♥-3♣
-
The way I play it 2♠ shows extra even in competition.
-
I understand the logic of passing since partner suppose to bid 4♣ with a club control, but I feel its a bit to much to assume with my kind of partnerships. I wouldnt be surprose to see that partners redouble was just offering to play there, and 4♥ just natural. Since the double make my hand a bit better I would continue.

Hi, 1♣ - 1♥ 1♠ - 2♦ 2♥ - 2♠ We had a discussion of the meaning of this 2♠ Does it show 4 spades and is mainly slam invitation, or it shows 3 spades and is mainly looking to find the best game, checking for dimaond stopper etc. What do you think ?
