Can i ask you why did not you consider to bid 3NT and not 4D ? You passed 1CL so you don't have a t/o X for clubs or an overcal. What do you need in your hand to bid 3NT now?

Factoring assumes as a first step to look for a sign.Factoring a positive quantity with a negative one, leads to a negative result that is much worse than the original, to say at least.

I understand from that post the following things: 1. Partner, having maximum X in spade, Qxxx diamond and the Ace of heart would bid 4D !!! (only 3 exclamation marks ) . 2.Partner, with the hand God gave him, still bid well 4D !!! (another 3 ...) I am too old for that I' m coming to age of 99.

Well what 's the problem then? Not a big deal with a zero at matchpoints. That's why i want to bid that 2NT ONLY with very balanced hands! And is very clear that if my partner would try to play on any major then i would never get not doubled! So it works only when we are balanced so LHO is balanced too. (that means, in my mind, that he doesn't have your source of trics)))). Till now i played 4 times doubled in 3NT with an opponent having more than 18 hcps and i made the contract. 4 times! And the story with the 21 points to my RHO is true and happened at my table in a tourney (i was declarer) . There was a defense for -1 but they got it wrong and i made.

Hey if u have 20 u already know that my 2NT is psychic . U must have only 15-17 ugly , with 17 u still suspect that something is wrong there (if my partner moved ) but u aren't so sure. U can imagine i bid 2nt with 18 right? Please i invite u to X me with your 17 being LHO . Do u really think it matters? U give trics every time u are in your hand, starting with the lead, which is essential and can ruin all the defense.

Ok that i don't know. I have no clue when a thing becomes systemic then illegal. So perhaps that's the reason people do not often make psychics in tourneys.

Well i agree that he took about 2 mins to pass but he passed. But u are kidding at me : having let's say19 hcps in my hand do u really think i will go down? I don't remember every card and perhaps few of them are not in the right place as they were, but per totally opponents had 27 and that shape. And at the table i made 5 trics:) 3 hearts :P k cl and the ace. Do u imagine that i will go plus with a few more hcps in my hand ?

Lol i need to correct the board i played 3NT not 2NT there. That's why he wondered about the score because all the tables were in 3NT and i was the only one who got down . We were playing puppet 2nt-3cl-3nt (anyway i didn't have any major)))

My game is a mixture of poker and russian roulette. When i have cards i bid with accuracy (or at least i try). It was useless anyway, and i played many times the minor on the level 4 , in slam trying auctions. Because i used to leave the table during the contest, i got banned years for playing in tourneys. But the funniest thing is when i don't have cards, and as usually, a partner even weaker than me. The following boards I played in real tourneys . He took a few minutes to understand what happened in fact.

When i was 20 i was one of the caddies involved in the previous post:D. At that time I had read some great books and i was convinced i'm good enough.So i started to play bridge for moneys against experienced players .Everyone can relax playing bridge and socializing, but when moneys is at stake and especially when the amount is very significant, entertaining bridge turns into something else already. Once i played against someone who used to live with moneys earned in the game. He spent all the night ( a very precious time) convinced that he caught a fish . The system he used was a very simple approach. 3NT all the time was to play , 4H/4Sp also to play and promising at least 4cards. 1Cl/1D to protect the lead in that minor. Those things didn't cost me that much and i survived. But sometimes the auction began with 1h/1sp and there i had lot of trouble with that specific opening. I tried to improve with my partner during the game, but no consensus arrived. In my mind, if someone failed to open 4M having 4+ cards, then he was ready to play 6 or 7. So i took control and overcaled every 1M opening at high levels.Sometimes it worked, as he believed i'm not as crazy as goof. God gave me lot of good hands and a partner very skilled as declarer. The gambler said at the end that there was stupid luck and what a waste of time . After some years i grew up and also my self confidence. Now i was looking for expert players to play with real tourneys. After some unsuccessful attempts, finally i accepted to play in a national event with someone who was refused by all others. Despite all his bridge experience, (20+ years), he wasn't able to overcome the basis . We agreed to "t/o" X any 13+ hand any shape, to play any X in competition as punitive (except at the level 1 lol), and to use "blackwood" every time we have as responder more than 15. God gave me again only good hands and i was declarer 80% of cases. Of course i opened 1NT with any 14+ semibalanced. Is there a board i will never forget. My partner didn't play all 4 transfers so when i opened my 14 points hand he passed with 5 points six diamonds. Bidding goes 1nt-pass-pass to my RHO who had 21 balanced. The RHO , known as a good player, and being aware he's playing against two novices, doubled my 1NT. X-pass-pass ( LHO having 0 ) and now my partner saved in 2D. RHO doubled again (a little faster now) and then, with 9x in diamond, and a nice 4-3-2-4 with all 9's and two 10's , i decided to have at least an advantage, being declarer.Then i bid 2NT with insanity, expecting my partner to pass. But partner didn't give up and bid 3D over my 2NT, got doubled, so i needed to go to 3NT now, which he finally passed, got doubled in tempo , partner (very nervous) thrown on the table j heart, k j diamond and two tens, and no matter there was some defense for -1, I made the contract. And that's when the fight started ...LHO why double? RHO why not signal? We won the second place...unfortunately my partner was declarer in 2 boards and he was the only one who managed to go down there.

The 8♥ bidding is available?

Wowwww Btw i still have a 7 cards suit and a KING in my partner's suit and i rather prefer to go down -2 on any idiotic contract than lose a cold game if partner overcaled with good cards, Or u are apart of the bidders who X having more than 14 hcps? Is your 1♠ overcal limited to 12-13? And what is the fun of playing 1♠ in 5-1 fit instead of 2♦ in 7-0 fit ? I depreciated enough my hand with the 1NT bidding but lol to credit these 13 hcps with 0 values that's a bit funny. :wub:

OK i can see that some of your arguments do have value and i can further amplify that value with some serious revision. Given that hand, x KQJT9xxxxxx x --.and your 4♥ overcal , i will take a look to the E's hand x - xxxxxxx xxxxx opposite to AKQxxx x - KQxxxx Or u expect opps to be balanced when u have 11 red cards ? You may even ruff a spade but is your lead)) Just for fun :P

Keeping in mind that partner would X t/o with some 5,6 + hcps and red suites, or he would support spades with 5,6 hcps and 3 cards and so on.. then we expect to much and obviously there is not game. Of course he may have club penalty. Or a not forcing ♦ bid , and u play it forcing . So u start with X to see what is doing your partner then if he bids only 2h or 2sp this is your contract. Of course if u pass on the level 2 u allow opps to reopen the bidding and because i don't like them playing when i have 10 cards in majors, i will encourage my partner on the level 3.:P
