  1. Guess not many people interested in this problem, or don't know how to handle it. Mike :)
  2. 1) 5http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif, if you think when you bid 3 NT that that is end of auction :) So let them guess at 5 level. If you are unbalanced so are they. And if your pd has the Ace of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif and 2 trump and doubleton http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif and don't get a trumplead, well then I guess Hell has frozen over  2) 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif followed by 4http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif 3) 5http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif at least, on a day were I need it I will bid 6. Mike :P
  3. Passing a forcing bid  Sometimes you have to be somewhat creativeand if you play with a pd who doesn't get that, you have a problem. :) It's almost like passing a forcing 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif opening. But that's what you get if you find your pd's at a pdship desk :P Mike :D
  4. I agree and also put some blame on system. That's why I play 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif as a 14-15 HCP (roughly)hand with good http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif's and singleton http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif. That leaves 4http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif for a 18-19 HCP(roughly) hand again with good http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif support. Think that makes life a little easier. Mike
  5. And then again maybe I should think before I post  Of course my expert opps will Duck the Ace of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif and next http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif I play will be ruffed by West leaving me without enough entrees to dummy to make the hand. Mike :D
  6. This is not that hard of a declarer problem. I assuming we get to 6http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif and losing only http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif Ace. Mike
  7. Yes you are right, for some reason I was sure North had 4 http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif's. Mike
  8. I, for one, will not use these little tiny sysmbols. Why not go for something that 90% of bridgeplayers will use, since their eyesight is probably not that good. I have a 20/20 eyesight and I almost have to use a magnifier to see the symbols. Try to put these sysmbols in. http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif I am by no means a computer expert but I don't think this going to be too hard. Mike :D
  9. Bigger, kinda like these symbols maybe, http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif Mike
  10. I do very much agree with # 2, 6 , 7. Mike
  11. I always tell people at start of tourney to only call once per table and only click director button once. That seems to be working out good for me, most people listen. Mike
  12. Very good idea and I will for sure help out all I can. Mike
  13. A lot of people playing bridge are known for their ways to try to impress people with all kinds different things. Just ignore them and keep pleasing the good ( nice ) people. Mike
  14. I have hosted a lot of unclocked tourneys and never had it go over timelimit by very much. Maybe I have been lucky and not have certain players who are slow. Mike
  15. I started playing when I was 11, together with my little brothers!!! and we were playing, a few years later, already national championships. But to say I was an expert already at that early age I will not say, I do think you can play good but you are still a kid and kids wanna have fun. Bridgeplayers are a breed apart at a younger age and you either are a bridgeplayer or not. At an older age people start playing because of social aspects, we started because of our passion for cardplay  And of course the many nights of rubberbridge were lots of fun too. Mike
  16. Am sure the http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif are not breaking 3-3 :D So we have to go for a squeeze again, seems you like squeezes Ben. :D If West guards majors or Majors and Minor we have squeeze and also can have a squeeze against East if he holds minors and http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif's. Mike :D P.S. do you find the play at the table too or only after looking at it for a while with all 4 hands B)
  17. Squeeze or http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif's to be 3-3 with west having the high ones. Don't have the bidding but it seems that East opened some amount of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif's. So maybe ducking the http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif with no entree in the hand will not happen, and maybe it will. If it does happen then Ben is looking good, if it doesn't happen then there are other possibilities for squeezes too. Mike :D
  18. I have to agree here. But assuming nobody X-ed anything, I will lead K of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif, hoping to get that ruff in. But with complete bidding I might think differently. Mike :D
  19. X, Take out. Pd will have a fit in one of my majors and anything he bids I will rebid some amount of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif. Pd should know what is going on then. Mike :D
  20. Pd's hand http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif Q http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif AKQ10x http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif AKxx http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif 109x As you can see 1http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif X-ed will not get many tricks. Declarer had 5-3-2-3 hand, and we got it down 3 for 800, looks like 1100 is even possible, even though I don't spend much time on hands like this. 5 http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif makes if you guess some stuff right. Mike :P P.S. if somebody finds a way to get it 1100 let me know
  21. You can do anything you want :P but on this hand passing, if you can defend correctly which I think you can, works out very good. Bidding 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif which I disagree with, will not. If you bid 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif you will get to game, but that hasn't made yet either. Mike :D
  22. I agree, I don't get 9 card suits too often. And making life hard for opps is sometimes very fun thing in bridge. And it is hard to see actually who is going to save, so you might as well beat them to it. :P Mike :D
  23. If I XX first and bid 1 NT after 1http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif pd should know I have a balanced 10-11/12 count. At least that's what I would expect, but I am not an precision player (anymore). If my pd now rebids 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif I will pass. If my pd rebids 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif I will bid 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif if that is an asking bid for cards in http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif or I will 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif if that is showing stopper. Mike :D P.S. Thanks for reminding me why I went back to playing natural systems hehehe :P
  24. Pd has the http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif Ace, I don't know that he has the Jack too. But even if he does you can still only count 11 tricks, so Like I said earlier, ask for Kings. If he has 2 you can count 13 tricks for sure, still providing that pd has the J of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif. You still have room left to make a GrandSlam force too. With all this room, go slow and find out as much as you can. :P Mike :D
