Unusual distributions became the "norm"
steve2005 replied to 00__0906's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Ok, lets say somehow your correct despite evidence to the contrary. Then you have a big advantage versus us plebs who are expecting mundane distribution. Just play for offside Queens! Play for bad splits. Bid conservatively as you know your getting bad splits. Since your right you should get over 70% results easy. -
small pdf coverter, also has an extension for google but never used that My link

On BBO you explain your own bid and they can ask during the auction.

I just switched to Chrome from Edge on Barmar's advice. Significant improvement! same setup otherwise.

Best way of handling suit combination?
steve2005 replied to Dinarius's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Line 2 is better. whenever line 1 would work line 2 works and it has other hands where only line 2 works. -
Ugh. My eyes are freaking out from the CAP lock!

responses to 2c open - strong
steve2005 replied to phoenixmj's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I too like your system. Using 2♥ as bust causes problems with strong heart hands. Bidding past 3NT and rebidding 4♣ on a 5-card suit which has already been shown is where the problem is! -
non-Americans competing for ACBL points ???
steve2005 replied to Povratnik's topic in General BBO Discussion
Of course they can BBO ACBL tournaments are open to all. Of course without an ACBL number the points won't get registered. As an exception, I believe the upcoming NABC Robot individual tournament only ACBL members are allowed to register. -
It depends on what the convention card says whether it is a psyche. 5 is the normal accepted suit length partnership agreement without requiring an alert. ACBL does require a pre-alert if you have an agreement to routinely open weak 2's with such poor suit quality but I have never seen it enforced if they don't.

This is a near-perfect 1NT opening and it will be hard to show 16 hcp later if you don't open 1NT. Even people who don't always open 1NT with a 5-card major should be highly considering 1NT here.

Giving Up Crawling/Scrambling Stayman
steve2005 replied to RuflRabbit's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
Seen this in Revision Precision 1N-2♣-2♦-2♥=5♠4♥+ INV+ 1N-2 ♣-2♦-2♠=5♥4♠+ INV+ more space to look for slam or fit for invite as 2M is F1 since 2M is F1 it costs nothing to reverse the bids to right-side jumping to 3♥/3♠ = 4441 over 2♦ -
Ruling correct?

EW made 2S on defence (-3)I see no reason why EW shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt that they could repeat as a declarer. -
PROPS and IDEAS for the new SOFTWARE
steve2005 replied to pilowsky's topic in Suggestions for the Software
What part of it is against the rules did you not understand? -
i hate over alerts it takes away from real alerts. ACBL 2N Ogust is not alertable (though responses are)from alert procedures: "In ACBL-sponsored events, however, there are some common conventions that do not require an Alert during the auction. These include, but are not limited to: ... 7. Conventional 2NT response to a natural opening two-level suit bid (See Part 5) .. 2♦,♥,♠-P-2NT: Not Alertable if it asks for further clarification of a natural weak or intermediate two-bid or if it's a negative or waiting response to a natural, strong two bid. Natural, non-forcing 2NT responses to opening two-bids must be Alerted. "

Is sandbagging a psyche bid?
steve2005 replied to palmergnaw's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
In ACBL (I dont know about others) it would be illegal to pass a hand that with the same shape but take away some honours would open. This is to stop people playing forcing pass but i think it applies to this pair if they do it enough times. -
NS played differently. So EW can play differentlyGib figures out what to do at the moment, what it played earlier doesn't affect its new decision.

There are free bids which show exactly the same hand Gib opened on 12-21 5+H/S There are wholes in Gib bidding/explanations you can run a freight train thru Splinter is just another on the list

1M - 2C as GF or a 3 card limit raise
steve2005 replied to Cthulhu D's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
2C relay write-up -
After a 1NT opening, it is standard to sign-off in 2M with 5 cards and a weak hand. This is because a 5-2 fit often plays better than 1NT and you may have an 8+card fit. So, it would seem logical to sign-off in 2M with a weak hand and 5-cards after 1m-1M-1NT. Yet after 1m-1M-1NT, i have a lot of partners where 2M promises 6-cards. The only reason I can see for this is if 1N could be a singleton. But with a singleton, I think you should be avoiding bidding 1NT. What do you think?

How to rebid with when playing weak NT
steve2005 replied to mangurian's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Thirdly responder can have a hand worth a slam try opposite 4-card support. Responder will be delayed until much higher in finding out support. -

Don't hide 4-card trump support even if 4-3-3-3. -
Is a partnership game. Trust partner to bid 4♠ when right. Partner can have 0 pts.The only time i have seen someone go 4♠ they had 18 and 5♠ and they are still wrong 1 pt isn't worth a whole extra lev4el. Responder, of course, had a bust.
