  1. I don't know which other thread you mean, but "Kokish" usually refers to the use of the 2♥ rebid after a 2♣ opener as a two-way bid showing either hearts or a strong balanced hand.
  2. By "Kokish", do you mean something other than an artificial rebid of 2♥, showing either hearts or a strong balanced hand?
  3. That would not be a positive move. There was a bit more to it than that.
  4. I imagine those with no computers will print them out, as they have done for the several years since their predecessors were available in printed form.
  5. That many may not know this is a reason why the TD should be called.
  6. In common with the largest group of respondents here, I led ♣Q. As you will see from the full hand below, a diamond was the killing lead. [hv=pc=n&s=saj872ha8dj5cak62&w=skqth7653daq92cq4&n=s96543hqjt94dt7ct&e=shk2dk8643cj98753&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1sp2s2nd3d3s4d4sdppp]399|300[/hv]
  7. Do you think most players know the provisions of L55A?
  8. A warning all round is a good start.
  9. Nothing specific - he wasn't a very regular partner. So I assumed the minors, but wouldn't have been too surprised to have found it to have been any two suits.
  10. The lease ran out, and the landlord wanted to use it for other purposes.
  11. Last night was the final game of the Young Chelsea at Barkston Gardens in Earls Court, where it has been for more than forty years, before moving to its new home alongside the Queens Tennis Club in Baron's Court. Former members came from all over the country to play, and there were 60 pairs (including a pair of three) with tables squashed into every available corner and two in the bar - just like the old days. This hand was my most expensive error of the night. Maybe you wouldn't (or I shouldn't) double, but the lead is the thing. Get it right and you are +200, get it wrong (as I did) and it's -990, a difference of nearly 20 IMPs. [hv=pc=n&w=skqth7653daq92cq4&d=e&v=n&b=6&a=p1sp2s2nd3d3s4d4sdppp]133|200[/hv]
  12. I'm surprised by this. The information is in the dlm file as to how many boards have been used. Sounds like an issue with the scoring program rather than the dlm file format.
  13. I think it starts at the other end, with SA, SK ...
  14. The 3NT rebid causes you problems. If you played Kokish or reverse Kokish, you would gain a round of bidding which would allow South to cue-bid/super-accept with 4C, North to cue-bid hearts at the four level, and then you would be better placed.
  15. That's the bit I'm questioning (as has at least one other contributor earlier in the thread), unless he said something like "two good clubs, then two good trumps". Players often list their tricks, not in the order they need to play them, when making a claim. We don't hold them to playing in that order unless it's clear that's what they meant, and equally we shouldn't give them the benefit of playing them in that order unless it's clear that's what they meant.
  16. I think it has long been established that this is not necessarily so. In the case in question, the player believes all four cards in his hand are good, and might therefore play them in any order. Refusing to play the second trump after the first is only necessary if you think one of your other cards might not be good. That wasn't the case here.
  17. I'd open 2♥, strong, which I play with some partners in fourth seat. I think I can have my cake and eat it.
  18. If the hand was misboarded you can't compare your defence with that of the other pairs - they were defending a different hand. If the misboarding was not your fault, you should have got AV+ (60%).
  19. I think you misunderstand - it's a sig, in which he has quoted a line from a post by someone else (gwnn) about yet another person (32159). None of it has anything to do with you at all.
  20. Remind me, how does the ACBL tell you to score a board that's unable to be played because the players were slow?
  21. Since the possibilities are not obvious, this regulation is consistent with L12C1d.
  22. No, the Woos always describe it as "a major suit of exactly five cards..."
  23. It's significant if you're going to view it as relevant to making a ruling.
