  1. I don't understand the 6♥ bid at all.
  2. The disadvantage in playing stopper asking is in giving them a free chance to double to show support/tolerance.
  3. The director will apply L17D. Cards from Wrong Board 1. A call is cancelled if it is made by a player on cards that he has picked up from a wrong board. 2. After looking at the correct hand the offender calls again and the auction continues normally from that point. If offender’s LHO has called over the cancelled call the Director shall award artificial adjusted scores when offender’s substituted call differs* from his cancelled call (offender’s LHO must repeat the previous call) or if the offender’s partner has subsequently called over the cancelled call. 3. If the offender subsequently repeats his call on the board from which he mistakenly drew his cards the Director may allow that board to be played normally, but the Director shall award artificial adjusted scores when offender’s call differs* from his original cancelled call. 4. A procedural penalty (Law 90) may be assessed in addition to rectifications under 2 and 3 above.
  4. It's amazing how many people were born in 1969.
  5. In what way would EW having different information cause NS to act differently? If South had given the correct information that 2♥ was transfer to 2♠ don't you think that he (South) would have bid 2♠ rather than 3♥? South is not entitled to that information. EW are.
  6. I'm now gordontd because gordonr had already gone as a username.
  7. The word "substituted" is used as an adjective referring to calls or bids on several other occasions in the law book (eg L17D2, L27B1a) and on each occasion it is perfectly clear that the substituted call is not the original call.
  8. In what way would EW having different information cause NS to act differently?
  9. Better Bidding with Bergen (I think it's in Book 1 but I might be wrong) has a useful section on this.
  10. There's bound to be a problem with attempting to "punish" players for doing accidentally something that they would be permitted to do deliberately.
  11. Unlikely when we have 98xx over the hearts. And even if partner has HH in hearts we can't lead clubs enough times to stop a heart ruff.
