  1. I prefer using Keyboard Entry for Bidding and Play. I also am klutzy enough that I like to use Confirm Bids and Confirm Cards. If I am bidding with Keyboard Entry I do indeed have to type an extra "RETURN" to get confirmation of my bid (similar to clicking on OK if using mouse). But for the card play part I don't seem to have any confirmation step. In other words I type "DK" and the diamond King gets played without any confirmation step. Is there some way to configure the settings so I do have a confirmation in this usage? I'm glad that BBO does support keyboard entry. Just wish this confirmation would exist.
  2. Tournament name: BCCC Tuesday Game (Private) on Tuesday July 14 Tournament Number: 9539 The pair that got bumped at startup was redgenie and lccarter. Just in case it matters, lccarter was added to the include list that same day and the tournament was "modified" so that it would see the new list. Before I modified the tournament of course she could not register. But after the modification she registered fine.
  3. I was directing a small (4-table) tournament and we had 1 robot who had replaced a human who had to drop out. When my partner and I played against the robot/human pair, my partner's first 2 bids came up without her input. Here is the hand record... https://tinyurl.com/y3o5wnz7 My partner was East, the robot was South. On her first bid, she intended to call 2 spades over 2 diamonds, but a pass was auto inserted and the robot did the transfer to 2 hearts. On the next round there was no way she would double at that point but somehow the double was inserted (and the robot then went to 4!h ). Has anyone seen this behavior before and does it have anything to do with the robot being next to bid? Is there anything that can be done to avoid it?
  4. Directing a game on Tuesday, I had the tournament configured with +allavail+. We had three full tables and everyone was online as the tournament started. But as it started one pair seem to be bumped out by the system for some reason so we started with two and a half. I was able to substitute the bumped out pair back in (they were online all the time) but was wondering how this could have happened with allavail set? I have seen allavail work fine in a previous tournament.
  5. On a related question, is there any way to change the total number of boards, or the number of boards per round once the tournament starts?
  6. I understand BBO has different levels of robots. What level are these robots that get used for subsitutions?
  7. I've seen that there are flags that can force Howell movements for Clocked tournaments, but in our own small group tournaments we like to play Unclocked. So far, have run maybe 15 or so tournaments over the past 2 months, from 3-5 tables, always Unclocked, so never using the forced Howell flag. And assuming I set up the rounds so that there are as many rounds as one less than the number of pairs, we have never had a case where someone plays the same pair twice. Have we just been lucky or is the default unclocked behavior for small table counts?
  8. Just checking as I have to direct a tournament today. If I just make sure that robots are allowed in the original tournament description, then using robots as subs should have no problem?
  9. Thanks. Would there be a charge for using robots as subs?
  10. Any update on adding the feature of manual robot substitutes?
  11. Used +allavail+ for the first time and it worked nicely. One player from one pair was offline and the tournament did not start, sending me a message every minute or so. I had told the online member from that pair that we would wait 5 minutes. After 5 minutes still one partner missing but I was able to get things started by using the "Unregister Offline Teams" button from the Pending Tournaments menu. The tournament then started right away. Q: Is there any limit to how long the tournament will delay starting for +allavail+ ?
  12. The records from tournament 6959 on May 15 did finally show up about 9 hours after we finished.
  13. I have missing hand records from tournament #6959 which I hosted and which finished 7 hours ago. If there is something I can do to get the hand records, let me know.
  14. And will +allavail+ see a person even if that person is logged in as invisible?
  15. Does this mean a host for a regular free Private tournament could also use +allavail+ ? If I have say 9 registered pairs and they are all online will the tournament start with a sitout? This is what I would want.
  16. Yes I would like to get activated for this but also had a few questions... * Will this work if I don't know the exact number of tables until the tournament actually starts? If so, in the format section of the tournament does it ignore total boards and just use the specified "boards per round"? * Blog says tournament must be clocked although it seems like this movement could work for unclocked if supported. I had been using unclocked so as to minimize the number of unfinished boards and board adjustments. * A clocked question. Does the next round start as soon as all tables are finished with a round if the clock has not expired yet?
  17. As director for our small private tournaments, I like to look at my friend players list to make sure all registered players are online and possibly delay the tournament if they are not online. I have noticed a few players don't always show up in the friends list even though they are online. Is there some config option for them that makes them not show up in my friend list?
  18. Running small tournaments (3-5 tables) and would like the number of rounds to depend on the number of tables, etc. so that everyone plays everyone else once. I know I can edit the tournament before it starts to take care of this but today for instance one pair was not logged in at tournament start and so number of tables changed. Is there any way to change the number of boards and boards per round once the tournament starts?
  19. And what is the system limit these days?
  20. Ah yes, that makes sense. So it must be clocked. One thing I have never really gotten an answer on, can a clocked tournament for a small number of tables still be single winner? For example, with 4 tables, can I still set up clocked with 7 rounds and expect every pair to play every other pair (including the sitout of course)?
  21. Why does the tournament have to be clocked if using sitouts? I thought with an unlocked format that any boards not started when the clock gets to 3 minutes remaining would be skipped and given average for both sides.
  22. Sorry, I meant some way too look up historical usercount data. This could help when selecting a time to schedule a free tournament.
  23. Would there be any place where one can look up the average number of BBO players online for a given time?
  24. If I want to adjust a board result in the 20 minute period right after the tournament finishes, do I get to see the full play on the board? If so, what is the procedure for seeing the full play?
  25. I can see not being able to go to a table for a board you haven't finished yet but don't understand why a playing director can't go to a board that he/she has already finished.
