  1. The problem with not bidding now is lefty might bid 2♠ and now you're stuck bidding at the 3 level with a hand that you judged wasnt good enough to bid at the 2 level. I would bid 2♥ with this now and live with it if we get overboard a little.
  2. The title of this thread had a lot of potential. "How many partners have you had?" is my contribution.
  3. 3♦ 4♥ after 3♠, pass after 3NT
  4. I would 2/1 but I admit this is about the weakest. The AJ of ♥ are fine and the JT of ♣ are ok. If I'm in the minority, I wouldnt be surprised.
  5. Also, after reading the other responses, I like Larry's structure perfectly fine.
  6. OK, when I said wrap them all into one bid I didn't really mean one bid. You could easily put them into 2 or 3 bids rather than 4, though. Anyway even putting them into one bid seems better than putting them into 4 bids and then also having to unwind 4414 vs 4405, which, imo, is a big difference.
  7. Since we weren't told what Pass was, I assumed it was unclear, hence my explanation.
  8. i only pass 1/1s when it's impossible (or very, very unlikely) that game will be a good spot. This usually means bal-ish hands with 3 card support and a minimum. i think this should be takeout. 3424 or something seems about right.
  9. I would guess 4432 minimum or something similar.
  10. Yup - playing udca, 2 will be the card to show count No, you missed the point. It would be a disaster if partner played you for a doubleton club. This is the problem with playing count. If you play attitude here, you only encourage with a doubleton and discourage with more than a doubleton. Partner is very, very rarely going to need to know whether you have 3 or 4 clubs, but he will almost always need to know if you have 2 or 4. This ambiguity is just not necessary, and it's going to cost a lot when partner guesses wrong. If you play attitude, you get the benefit of being able to show the only count relevant to partner without any ambiguity.
  11. 2 is an even number, last time I checked.
  12. How does attitute not matter on this hand? You want partner not to play clubs anymore lol
  13. what hand types are included in the bids showing shortness? seems those could all be wrapped up into one bid if 4441
  14. Definitely an attitude situation. If you want a ruff, you can encourage.
  15. Play only in set games with friends and people you know.
  16. Pretty rough spot. Try 3NT and hope to run good one timeeeeeee
