  1. I have no doubt the staffer shall remain nameless and no one will be fired. It'd also be a weird coincidence if anyone involved in this had a striking resemblance to the victim's spouse, but that is neither here nor there, I suppose.
  2. It's somewhat alarming that Ted Cruz retweeting porn is just about the only even remotely human action he's seemingly ever performed. It is sort of the perfect scandal for him, aside from learning that he is, in fact, a lizard person who dropped out of the primary to tend to his thousands of glistening eggs. The reptile doth protest too much, methinks.
  3. It also relates to people's lack of understanding about statistics and research in general. As always, there is an xkcd for that, even though I know one of you hates xkcd (was it cherdano or gwnn?)
  4. On this day 5 years ago, Manti Te'o's girlfriend passed away from leukemia or a car accident in California or something. May she rest in peace.
  5. redspawn and anyone else who posts pictures frequently: just fyi i strongly encourage you to save the image you want to post and re-host it on a site like imgur. hotlinking the image presents some problems both for you and the host of the image. i'm not saying this is likely to happen, necessarily, but one disgruntled intern could change your image of a mississippi state flag to horse porn rather easily. certainly if it's from a smaller site, you're using their bandwidth, costing them money, and they'd be more inclined to deter your hotlinking with .htaccess files. just psa.
  6. Oh hey, and while we're on the topic of Paul Manafort The Happy-Go-Lucky Jewish Group That Connects Trump and Putin The deal that made a Russian oligarch AP Exclusive: Before Trump job, Manafort worked to aid Putin Paul Manafort hiring new legal team amid Mueller probe Manafort switching legal team as feds crank up heat on him Paul Manafort Sought $850 Million Deal With Putin Ally and Alleged Gangster And just for the record, Manafort pushed pency-poo for VP. They're all complicit.
  7. RICO would certainly be a fitting conclusion to Trump's emperor-god complex.
  8. As I said in another thread, my mom is doing fine. She happened to be in a part of Conroe off of 105 that stayed safe. She's kept power the whole time and has plenty of food. I can't blame her for wanting to get away from the apartment, but some friends a few blocks south of her are completely flooded, so we'll count our blessings. She posted some videos a few exits down on 45 where the whole interstate is underwater, along with the businesses in the strip malls along the service roads. I feel bad for the families that lost everything and have no jobs to return to.
  9. Condescension is actually a great way for public message boards to self-moderate themselves. Similarly, it would not be bad to have a "bad posters" or "brains of *****" leaderboard. As a general statement, and obviously there are exceptions, members here are capable of learning from what better and smarter posters say. Don't look for analogies in the real world, because few exist, but this is a community where the meritocracy tends to prevail. Yes, hrothgar's opinion pulls more weight than yours. As does barmar's. As do many others.
  10. Historians, can anyone remember another time when the SecDef openly and defiantly contradicted the president?
  11. An example of a pardon that would be obviously against the law would be a promise to Manafort of pardons in exchange for not taking any deals with investigators. I would also argue that it is obviously impeachable to use pardons as a campaign tactic to rally your supporters, but here we are.
  12. ad hominem! personal attack! vitriol! REEEEEEEE
  13. right? your schtick is really that obnoxious. i hope you understand that.
  14. i suspect we'd all prefer if he didn't come back to be perfectly honest.
  15. i dont think you understood my post. but thank you for the explanation. i happen not to agree that it is an "immigration problem". my mother is doing well. she lives in north houston by herself, but she's made the necessary precautions to hopefully get through this without any problems. she hopes the power stays on. the company she works for is a subsidiary of a huge land-moving and disaster recovery corporation in Knoxville, TN. She is arranging hotel rooms for their management team to come to the area in preparation for what will undoubtedly be an enormous undertaking. For perspective, they had FEMA contracts for Katrina and arranged the clean up of the 9/11 tragedy. it's nice to know that Mom does more to protect our fellow americans than trump ever has.
  16. This narrative writes itself for Fox & Friends: "Why didn't Obama stop these illegals before this became necessary?"
  17. Not to mention his cowardice to make the pardon on the wake of a crisis situation, which, I understand, he will command from the luxury of the golf course. This is a huge middle finger to America unless you're one of the 34% who still supports him.
  18. I suspect the only winners in such a scenario would be the lawyers.
  19. diana, speaking of admins, i can't help but notice chas is listed in the "yellows" group. maybe i don't know the role of yellows, but it doesnt make much sense to me. nigel, stop derailing our discussion. if you have nothing to contribute except some obnoxious finger wagging, you are the problem rather than the social justice warrior your perceive yourself to be. thanks.
  20. "contentious view" lol. did you miss the part where the guy posted that he hates black people? go ahead and lead us in some discussion about the finer points of such a position.
