  1. Why would you want to bid exclusion in clubs rather than spades?
  2. 6♠, because partner is odds on to have 3 out of ♠AK, ♥A, ♦A, along with two diamonds.
  3. It can't hurt, but is it really a slam try? (Rather than a lead-direction in case they bid 5♠?)
  4. I think the typical IMP loss from the 2H bid is maybe 0.5, the typical IMP loss from the 4♠ bid more like 4.
  5. Oh come one, maybe its an anti-percentage bid, but it can hardly be as bad as bidding 4S on a mediocre 7-card suit with a void in partner's suit and KT9x in opponent's suit!
  6. Even I would look good as a center on a team with Nash.
  7. PASS! I am glad I have all these jacks, I might make!
  8. Passing 3♣ at Matchpoints with a known spade fit? Seems clearly a fielding of a misbid to me. Does that make "drury" misinformation? I would think so.
  9. I would try 6H but I am curious what action you would consider a mistake here.
  10. I would always lead a spade but I can see that a diamond and a trump are more attractive against the non-canape auction (i.e. so far I agree with David). I could also see a logic (trying to force declarer) where a diamond is more attractive against the canape auction - i.e. it wouldn't be my logic but I wouldn't dismiss it when that is what opening leader claimed.
  11. I don't know which language this is but does it translate approximately to   :( :( :(  :( ? Anyway, Ribery was really missed. Not sure when was the last time I saw one player (Robben) double-teamed or triple-teamed so often.
  12. If 2♣ isn't gameforcing then it's the obvious bid I think. However, in your auction I would pass or bid 3S as opener, never 3N.
  13. Wow how can North not redouble this? He knows ♥K is on and both opponents are balanced! ITS NORTH WHO IS CRAZY!
  14. It's not a silly agreement but probably not standard.
  15. I thought the discussion is about how good he is right now, not about his career. Obviously his career pales compared to many of those listed above. Of course I never know who is center and who is PF so I have no idea whether he is among the top 3 PFs.
  16. Yeah obviously if you are willing to go past 4♠ but don't have a heart cue, then you just cue at the 5-level.
  17. A round robin of 5 followed by a round robin of 3 (with some kind of carry-over) sounds reasonable. However, I am not sure whether it's actually better than a round robin of 5 followed by a knockout match. How about a day of round robin of 5, followed by half a day of 3-way, followed by 26 boards final (all with carry-over of course)?
  18. To save Csaba, Victors, Roger etc. from reanswering - no it does not change their answer. (Nor mine.)
  19. Btw, since Ken made a post with this title - shouldn't this be under bridge-related discussion?
  20. No West bid 4D himself, so he can't bid keycard over that. But yes I think East should bid keycard over 4D. If he bids 4H, then I think West should bid keycard over that, as West knows he is bidding a small slam and finding a grand is much easier if you check for keycards first. (In fact it would be obvious to bid the grand after 4D-4H-4N-5C-5D-5N-6C.)
  21. I thought in the interview with Maddow he just came off as an arrogant idiot. I mean it's one thing to stand up for your believes when you think it's more important than losing some votes and getting bad press. It's another thing not realizing that this belief would cost him votes and bad press, refusing to answer question and attacking his interviewer. Seems to be a good match to follow up Bunning.
  22. A simple fix is to allow 2♥ rebids with 4225, and to invert the 2♠ and 3♣ rebids.
  23. Huh? 4♥ says "if you have a good splinter, we may have slam". West has a very good splinter (although he certainly does not have an ace extra), so he moves on over 4♥ with keycard. Anyway, of course you are free to make any agreements you want, but in standard you deny 4-card spade support when you don't raise immediately.
  24. I don't get it. ♠K, diamond 8 to an honor on your left, club switch. What is your plan?
