The only reason I bring it up is that I had a player complain to me about something he felt was missing from the software. I told him to make his suggestion on the forums. He said he'd tried that and couldn't register. I didn't believe him so I tried it on Chrome, the screen comes up "Launch Bridge Base Online", I clicked it and got "plug in blocked". So I tried it on Edge and got the same thing. I tried it on Firefox and got directed to the site to download Flash. So what I'm saying is new users cannot register on the forums unless they're using Firefox and even that won't be possible after the first of the year.

OK. Sign out of the forums, call up forums.bridgebase.com on Chrome or Edge, click the Register button on the upper right and see what happens.

Flashplayer will be removed from all web browsers at the end of the month. As it stands now new users cannot register on the forums unless they have Flash downloaded. What happens on 1/1/2021?

I've had that happen too. It's bizarre. I just looked at mine and it was as you described....nothing there. I logged off, logged in again, looked again and it was all there.

Never forget that skill levels on BBO are self-assigned, so s/he can keep "novice" as long as s/he wishes. Uday wrote the following years ago under Guidelines for filling out your User Profile; I offer it again fwiw. "There is an area in your user profile where you can enter information about your level of play. It is not important how well you think you play since most bridge players are unable to assess their own skills with any accuracy. What matters is your level of experience and the degree of success that you have had in live competitive clubs and tournaments. Here are some examples of terms that you can use and how they should be interpreted: Novice - Someone who recently learned to play bridge Beginner - Someone who has played bridge for less than one year Intermediate - Someone who is comparable in skill to most other members of BBO Advanced - Someone who has been consistently successful in clubs or minor tournaments Expert - Someone who has enjoyed success in major national tournaments World Class - Someone who has represented their country in World Championships If you disagree with another member's assessment of his or her skills, it is completely inappropriate to mention this to them (via chat for example). That is correct. There is nothing to stop you from chatting to the lobby but unless those in the club, either in the lobby or at a table, have made a conscious effort to see what you're saying then you're just blowin' in the wind.
