  1. Agree...'Usually' is not right. In expert standard maybe it is. But playing Acol and Sayc and 2/1 (with Fast Arrival) I think a lot of cuebids start above game. Thx Stephen 1 more thing. I only dislike those words 'usual accepted' 'most' 'usually' 'normal' 'reasonable' 'assumed' because not only this convention, but the whole set of logic does not seem to fit any of the words above
  2. I cannot even claim that Mathe Asking Bid is standard / widely used on BBO (playing with someone who has 2/1 written on his/her profile I will not assume 1M-3M-3M+1 is Mathe), how can this be? 1. The pt is 'USUALLY'. I wanna cuebid below game too 2. That depends on your style. a. 1H-2H-2S is not shortness ask in standard b. There are many hands you would like to know about the location of his controls.....since responder has so few, we want to know if he has that PARTICULAR card or not..... 3. Dunno how to answer your third statement. Dont think its standard though...
  3. Shortness ask is not bad...since the 4M bidder always has a short suit. But i dont think its standard, I play it as a cuebid, and I think most people play this control-showing. Referring to that 1M-4M thread, I think its North to blame. I think that a hand like this with 2Ks is already a very very good hand one can have, which means that even if responder has short Diamond, Slam is still not quite likely to make. Btw, I'm not going to risk my 4H, it may go down easily
  4. My response structure in Weird Club: After 1♣-1♦ (Negative Response): 1♥ = 4+♥ (Canape ok) or some strong Balanced Hands, Forcing 1♠ = 4+♠ (Canape ok), Forcing 1NT = 17-20 Balanced 2♣ = 5+♣ no 4M NF 2♦ = 5+♦ One Suiter NF 2♥ = 5+♦ 4+♣, F1 2♠ = FG with 4♠ Unbalanced 2NT = 21-22 Balanced 3m = FG 6+m usually One Suiter 3M = FG 5+♣ 4+♦ with 3 Card M
  5. 1. 1♦- (4♠) - X () = interference a. What is this double called? b. How much is needed to make a double like this? is it enough holding ♠AX ♥KJXXX ♦XXX ♣JXX? because he strongly feels that opponents are not making 4♠. 2. 1st seat, Holding ♠KXXXXXX ♥XX ♦XX ♣KX Should we preempt with 2♠/3♠? Does vulnerability matter?
  6. Actually, partner does have 4 Card ♥. Lets say you make a game try, i.e. 3♦. Partner bids 3♥, showing 4 cards but declining the game try. Still bid game? I will later show his hand
  7. [hv=s=sxhqjxxdajxxcqjxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You pass on the first seat, agree with the pass? Your partner opens 1♦, you respond 1♥ and he raises to 2♥. What will you do now? I'm not too sure. I just want to settle a bet.
  8. [hv=s=sajxxxhqjxxdcqjxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You open 1♠. Partner bids 2♣, which is a GF showing a Bal / 5+♣hand. A 2♦bid promises 5+ cards You bid 2♥, agree with this bid or 3♣ better? or Splinter? Then partner bids 3NT, showing 15-17 and a Balanced Hand What's your bid now and why?
  9. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sqtxxhqdqxcakjtxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] RHO opens 3♠, what will you bid now? Will you bid anything else in other vulnerability/scoring?
  10. I think there's no definite agreement on what is standard? But with a BBO pickup, I'll expect both 2C and 2H is to play. And what 2D is depends on my mood. I prefer 2C = to play, 2D = transfer, 2H = NGF Stayman, 2S = GF Stayman. Just my thoughts :)
  11. I play 1NT-4S as quantitative+ Partner bids 4NT with a minimum, and suits up the line with a max. I can still bid my suits even if my p shows a min. Anyone like my idea?
  12. Referring to Hand 2: 1. Do we raise all 1S-2C-2D to 3D whenever we have a D fit, despite our balanced hand? 2. After 1S-2C-2D-3D, what kind of 3H do you play?
  13. 4♦. Natural bid wins here.
  14. Playing 2/1 1. [hv=s=saxhjxxdkxcxxxxxx]133|100|Partner opens 1NT. What's your bid?[/hv] ...assume you can signoff/invite in Clubs, or invite in NT 2. [hv=s=saxhjxxdkxcxxxxxx]133|100|Partner opens 1NT. What's your bid?[/hv] Another question: What if HQ becomes HX and CX becomes CQ 3. [hv=s=saxhjxxdkxcxxxxxx]133|100|Partner opens 1NT. What's your bid?[/hv]
  15. Sry. Forgot to post that. My first bid was 1S
  16. [hv=s=sakxxhxxdxckjxxxx]133|100|[/hv] Playing 2/1. Partner opened 1D, then rebid 2D. I'm new to 2/1, so I didn't know what to do.... I tried 3C. But I knew it's a bad bid. What should I bid?
  17. In 2/1, Does 1S-2m-2S-2NT imply 2 card Major support? (Sorry, but I am a beginner playing 2/1) How about 1444 hands or some 1435 / 1345 while your HCPs are evenly distributed within the 3 suits? And 1S-2C-2S-3D is also not a popular choice. When the opener has 3 Clubs he will often bid 4C. Must opener have 6+Spades?
  18. I was playing SAYC at that time. In 2/1, do we always rebid our 6 card Major after 1M-2m-2M-2NT? The spades in this hand was strong enough to make such a rebid, but what if the suit was AT9XXX?
  19. Hi all, I'm a newbie here. Since 1M-2m-2M only promises 5, 6-2 Major fits are often missed. For example, [hv=w=skjhaxxdajtcxxxxx&e=saqt9xxhkqxdkxxcx]266|100|[/hv] West opened 1S I reached 3NT after 1S-2C-2S-3NT. And I saw Landen - Pratap pair also reached 3NT after 1S-2C-2S-2NT-3NT 4S was obviously a better contract, and even 6S could be made Can this problem be solved?
