  1. 4♠ on the first hand, my partners never open 2♠ with 5 cards. Pass on the second hand, not because of the scoring, just because I can't see so many tricks...
  2. 1&2. a 3&4. b 5. a 6. no (never had my partner revoking while being declarer) 7. b 8. b 9. don't know, almost never plays on BBO with regular partner, and when it is a case, i usually play with regular opponents as well 10. accept
  3. I think I would have bid 5♥, but I am not sure what the meaning of the bid is supposed to be, and what I am going to do at my next turn :) .
  4. I would try 4♣. I think partner rates to have a really nice club suit for his 3NT bid without aces, so 6♣ is not far away.
  5. Indeed, the SEF says that 2NT is 18-19, so 5322 hands with a 5-card major (which a good conservative French player would of course never open 1SA) are supposed to go trough a 2m rebid. But as a matter of fact, real life is quite different from theory, and many beginners (and even some non beginners) in France are convinced that 2SA is 15-17 (seeing this as a natural game proposal), so I'm not surprised cherdano is convinced French standard is 15-17. I must confess I myself play it 15-17 on BBO because it's safer, and this error is so common I am afraid some French teachers must teach it this way... I personnally really don't like 15-17, which leads to hopeless 2NT contracts too often, when a 2m rebid leaves more options.
  6. Wow, I would not expect more than 10% of the players to find it where I play. And I am pretty sure that nearly no one of the so called ADVANCED French players with whom I play on BBO would find this. But there is a big general misevaluation on BBO categories anyway...
  7. I bid 5♣ and try to think later if is really was a good bid or not.
  8. 1. Pass, can't find a better bid. 2. 5♠, but depends on what my partner usually has for his 4♠ bid. My guess is 5♥ will make.
  9. I would have continued hearts, playing South for Qxxx.
  10. Hello everybody, I'm Guillaume, 26 and french (well, it happens to fine people). I was lurking around for a few weeks and decided tonight to try to post a few non too stupid things. I'm not really an expert bridge player, but I'm playing for a few years now (I learned the game at 12 and really began to play seriously at around 20) and interested especially in bidding theory, which can be a little bit frustrating in my country since a huge majority of the players play more or less the same system. In real life, I'm a maths teacher and love classical music. I'm living in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world (well, it's just my opinion :) ). Ah, and last important thing, my nickname Roupoil means "red hair" in french, I am confident you will all understand why it was given to me.
  11. That's surely why here in France where most people are very conservative for their weak 2 bids, feature ask seems to be bay far the most frequent approach :) .
  12. I know people whose philosophy against a Multi is "act as if it is a strong bid at your first turn and wait second turn to bid if you are strong". Of course it seems quite weird, but I suppose these guys would pass such a hand. I personnally double in my methods with a strong hand.
