Would you double for take-out?
shintaro replied to Orla's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
:D Is it not an 'old' adage that rules are for compliance by fools and as guidance for the wise :) -
;) He can always give a 'Split Ruling David' B)
-
:D Tony I am worried about the 'Disconnected Pairs' being dropped out by the software does not seem fair especially with the great number of Disconnections we seem to be getting. However dumping those TD boots is ok

2♦ is not forcing in the UK. Indeed not. :D SNAP gordon

New tourney default - Block Kibs?
shintaro replied to uday's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
;) Uday What difference would there be other than having to actively tick 'Allow Kibs' rather than having to tick 'Disallow Kibs' ;) -
;) Tony There is already A.N.other site where you pay to join They still have the same problems (rudeness, leaving during play etc) On that basis I do not think your suggestion would work (it doesn't on there) M ;)
-
;) Perhaps not needed if you use Chat Assistant :D
-
:) Hi we have not conducted our test yet but will do after Christmas then will let you know the outcomes. Your point about not having the Barometer on thus stopping possible 'Gambling' actions to try recover is valid
-
;) I think 'WE' the collective 'WE' bridge players are to blame for the game dying; Unless 'WE' actively encourage younger players to join in and 'Nurture' them
-
:) But David is saying you are in 'YOUR hand' or 'not from Dummy' saying Please play from Correct hand :D

;) LAW 55: DECLARER’S LEAD OUT OF TURN A. Declarer’s Lead Accepted If declarer has led out of turn from his or dummy’s hand, either defender may accept the lead as provided in Law 53, or require its retraction (after misinformation, see Law 47E1). If the defenders choose differently the option expressed by the player next in turn shall prevail. B. Declarer Required to Retract Lead 1. If declarer has led from his or dummy’s hand when it was a defender’s turn to lead, and if either defender requires him to retract such lead, declarer restores the card led in error to the proper hand. No further rectification applies. 60 LAW 55: DECLARER’S LEAD OUT OF TURN LAW 56: DEFENDER’S LEAD OUT OF TURN 61 2. If declarer has led from the wrong hand when it was his turn to lead from his hand or dummy’s, and if either defender requires him to retract the lead, he withdraws the card led in error. He must lead from the correct hand. :o From memory (david or Robin will remember) a previous Law book also said 'Either Defender MAY chose but not after consultation' or similar wording As I ruled against Spoors when he was playing :D

:) Using Duplimate machines we did get on odd occasions hands of 13 13 13 13 dealt this was a bug which was cured by altering from the Old 3 bar coded packs to the now 5 bar coded packs with the updated chip :)

when director goes out in team match
shintaro replied to patroclo's topic in Suggestions for the Software
:) One way round it is for the Director to put his/her name as usual but follow with the ~ (tilda) then add another alias  -
;) Perhaps it would be more helpful to Explain just why it is not a good Idea rather than a glib one liner :P
-
:P Unless his partner is called 'Jack' :D

I know this thread has caused a lot of mud-slinging, but I think a writ is going just a bit too far :D :P Now now Paul or I might whisper in a certain Ladies ear what someone writ further up this thread :D

:P Hi Onoway We are mainly NON playing Directors so not a problem regarding security of LIN files. We also use 'Barometer On' so that the teams can see how they are going on board by board. (except when we forget to tick the box or Double click when ticking thus turning it off :D ) But it is a lot of work having to reset every half manually then if we run an overall competition we would have to Manually put out the overal results. :D

;) Tony I have noticed on occasions that when someone claims and opps accept the software rejects I assume it is a 'bug' ;)
-
;) Helen As I understand the set up for pairs Tourney at the moment 1 You enter as a Pair 2 You are then placed in a seating position by the software 3 A standard Mitchell movement is employed (except they are all head to head matches) i.e. Every Pair plays the same 2 Boards at one time. Thus the problem seems to be getting the opposite pairs to be in the opposite orientation as Teamates against the same Team. for the 1st round after which the software would do the same movent of E/W pairs. Duno if this is possible but interesting. I would like the views of Uday or Fred regarding the alteration of the programme

:P onoway we think we have found a similar answer to setting up multiple teams. Amongst us as a set of TD's Acol Club we can each set up a match . We think we can all then use the same LIN file for each match (we have a LIN file ctreator) But am interested in your setting up using bbo_iac as TD You can then add yourselves using the ~ in between each TD after bbo_iac Will give this a test soon and feed back :) And Mike will ask jacki TY but as we are not ACBL not sure :D
-
 I have asked a similar question sometime ago regarding running 'True' Multiple teams where you play say 24 boards and use a Standard American Whist movement. And yes I know there are problems with say 10/11/12 teams. You should just have to enter the Number of Teams that will play and then the software should be able to set up the software automatically. You would have to type in ALL the teams as well and the problems Onoway has written can surface. As the software is at this moment (unless I have missed something) you have to set up your teams matches to only play Half the number of Boards then 'Manually' reset the pairs for aother set of boards. Then having to Manually add the 2 sets of achieved scores together at the end.
-
;) If you are sure that it was misboarded after the other table in the match has played it then assuming you have time you could give each of the 2 teams a pre-duplicated board each so they can play the same board cancelling the misboarded one
-
;) Surely it matters not one jot what the actual board was they made thier own beds and they can lie in them Results stands end of matter PP possibly if they argue. David pissed (twould take a little Glen Morangie)

Using full disclosure CC can damage opponents
shintaro replied to johnjo42's topic in General BBO Discussion
:( Whilst I agree partner can see description of bids made with FDC it is no worse than f2f where you are having to self alert your own bids surely :P Online I would much rather that ALL information regarding your system is available to opponents than not
