What does this accomplish? It means that I don't have to play a further board against an opponent who's called me for example an effing cheat with the morals of Charles Manson while angry enough that I would probably give them a top on the board anyway. Having 10 minutes to calm down can work wonders here. If I am directing and a player calls an opponent "an effing cheat with the morals of Charles Manson", that player will be disqualified immediately, no matter how much he apologizes. The extent of his apologozies will only affect the time of his suspension. I strongly believe in a 10 minute calm down period, but some offenses need an immediate penalty. Rik :( Hanging might be too lenient in these cases :P

It's more fun polling without giving the nature of the infraction. The pollees (certainly your pollees!) always know there's a ruling involved, and they always try and guess what it was. This one was either going to be a hesitation over 4S, or 2NT not alerted. :D Frances do you not think that a TD polling tends to possibly sway the answers you get due to the fact you suggest ie they know something is amiss already :)

Have you ever seen a pair employ different defenses against a weak NT than against a strong NT? :) Yep the 'French' defence to Weak NT was to ask the strength then pass to show similar point count :D

:( This was one of mine at Brighton Jeremy where the WAG concerned said he would NOT shuffle the cards as the Law did not say he had to So I merely instructed him to shuffle the his hand before he passed on the boards and as he cannot object to an instruction from a TD he complied But yes it is a CRAP law saying Should !!! ;) Further to 69 If a person 2nd in hand with say QXXX void QJxx Jxxxx doubles an opening 1♠ bid is that within parameters having 6 HCP and 5 for a Void ??? This obviously caused the oponents to misplay the hand :rolleyes:
