Oh well i'm game, auction goes double pass pass redouble...
-
def gonna check out the kindle and bebook and sony options all the way, tx all!
-
The moment you realise that for all you want to do there isnt much time left.
-
People happy with e-readers? Think about purchasing one but not sure still.
-
If you bid 3♦ with this you are going to end up in 5♦ very often because i would not be passing 3nt. It seems excessive to me
-
Im going for a spade anyway the evidence for the diamond doesnt sway me.
-
Brazil and practically any Monty Python movie.
-
yeah 3♦ take away some bidding space.
-
In the match declarer went down because spades were 5-1 by continuing heart ruff at trick one, one round of trumps to hand and spade to the king taken on her right , heart back ruffed in dummy and the queen of spades which was ruffed on her left....I After that there was still the king of clubs to lose. I thought she played it properly but there was disagreement over that. Some people suggested pulling trumps after the lead and play for some luck in spades and clubs combined. tx for answer

[hv=d=w&v=e&n=skq1084hdaj1075cq64&s=s32h854dkq982ca83]133|200|Scoring: IMP west 1h,north 2h(sp,dims)east 4 h,south 5d all pass[/hv] west leads king of hearts, how would you play?
-
Well after the 4♦ bid by partner i would have bid 6♦.Not much better. You have my sympathy.
-
a pass in tempo please
-
to codo : 2♦ 10 plus points followed by a 3 ♦ bid by me isnt game forcing but just competitive
-
in three i had a major bummer
-
1) tried 5 ♦ now partner with kxx axx xxx jxxx couldnt move ♦werent 3-0 so plus one. 2)Wasnt sure 3♥ was forcing here (2♦ promising 10+) came up with 3 ♠ and on partners 4♣ answer tried 5♦ thinking that good ♦ opposite may bid 6. (was sure now partner having 6♦ and 4♣ because otherwise neg double on 1♠) Partner had q, xx, K10xxxx, kqxx and went down with bad luck in ♦ 3) All is well , they misdefended badly, go to hand with 3rd ♦ and pick up ♠works, playing ♠ ace does the job too. (king comes falling by opener) but whatever you do, dont try to cash the 3rd high ♦ first : it gets ruffed small by r.h.o. and down you go. Did i really do that? I tend to only post disasters so feel free to respond you will do better :) thx vuroth for answers

tx for answers! Judging from the auction(seemed a 20 20 deck) i expected r.h.o. to be short in hearts so i underled the ace of hearts at trick one with dramatic consequences when r.h.o. had the heart KJXx instead. After the game i defended my choice and promised to put it in the forum. Maybe i overthought this hand or it is just plain to risky to lose a def trick when the deck is split. Which it was, in that i was right. In this case any lead but a small heart plays it down and the sp q or j gives you the chance for 2 down.

[hv=d=n&v=e&s=saq6hdaq87652cak8]133|100|Scoring: IMP bidding north pass you 1diamond south pass partner 1nt and north 3 hearts[/hv] what now? At the table i tried 3 spades and got 3nt from partner in return. the opps stay silent further. and another: [hv=d=n&v=e&s=saq6hdaq87652cak8]133|100|Scoring: IMP bidding north pass you 1diamond south pass partner 1nt and north 3 hearts[/hv] plans? last one: playing four spades after the strange bidding 1heart on yr left partnerd double 2 hearts on yr right and you 4 spades you look at:[hv=d=s&w=saq2hj82dakq2c754&e=sj107654hq9d65cq102]266|100|[/hv] the west hand is dummy south leads ak of hearts north giving an uneven number and switches to the diamond 3. you play another diamond and north plays the jack. what are we going to play for?

Significant bridge books & magazines
olliebol replied to H_KARLUK's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Get your hands on as many championship books as you can, there not cheap but worth every penny for an aspiring player. An endless supply of different systems, hands and analyses. Furthermore for advanced players i heartily recommend partnership bidding by Robson and Segal not so much for its wisdom but generally for the number of ideas in it. Oh and buy the favorite partner a copy too. System discussion will come naturally after that. So much easier than having to come up with it all by yourself. -
After typing in "most replies "and "all time" on the watercooler i learned in about 4 hours time how to behave at award ceremonies :) Bridgewise i learnt to not come up with the brilliant bid at the table too often, unless discussed partner is very likely in the dark.

Dunno where i got this citation from: Alvin roth says some where: There is no hand with a singleton club that lets 1nt play in this position! After a misdefense with partner who passed a similar hand. :) )

Play that after 2♣/♦ the cue bid shows the other minor and a major. ( response in a major is nonforcing and convertible, after 2 minor 3 minor 4 minor 4♥ also convertible) The jump cue shows both majors. (after 2♣ 4♣ pass 4♦=ask about better quality ♠ or longer♠
