Like the other RS lists I've seen, it's ridiculous. Ok, maybe all lists are ridiculous, but this just seems to be a bit moreso. The inclusion of greatest hits records is bad enough, but if one were to take the list as gospel one might conclude that Simon and Garfunkle's greatest hits is their WORST album. (If so, why include it?) The ordering is also a peculiar mish-most of influence, sales, and magnum opus. Is Siamese Dream really better than Mellon Collie, or did it just come first? Does a band's best selling album really rate higher than their magnum opus? Are the really 5 Roxy Music/Who/Led Zeppelin/David Bowie albums better than many bands magnum opus? If you know the album is "bloated", why is it in the top 100? The list is entertaining, but it's incredibly, and at times painfully, unfocused. It also pays far, far too much homage to certain bands. Too many older, influential bands place 5 or more albums higher than the best albums of newer bands. It's just...muddled.

There are not 497 albums out there that are better than Tres Hombres. Not an auspicious start to the list.

Actually, the only time you need to guess the K♣ is when you've found both red queens with LHO. If RHO covered your T♥, you can ruff, cross to dummy with the A♣, draw the last trump, and cash your ♥ and 3 ♠s for making 6. So if the question is did RHO bid 2♠ with 3 HCP or 0 HCP, I'll play him for 3, as well. Nice - I would never have seen the squeeze.

7N is a reasoable gamble. If partner has a little something eg ♠ K ♥ AQ ♦ KJxxx ♣ KQxxx You can concede a couple of tricks and claim the remaining 13 :) :P

No question. People who don't vote don't worry the politically entrenched at all. A third party or candidate gaining a foothold would change the flow of money and power considerably.

Why is ignoring the legality of an issue a good idea? I'm not getting why the Turkish government wants to step in on this one. Israel claims the NGO is a terrorist organization. Turkey would be interfering with the internal affairs of another country. Lastly, didn't Egypt's work on blockading their side of the border with israel reduce the flow of arms to a torrent? How will israel cope without that kind of help? Loss of life is tragic, but I learned a long time ago that A) there can be no consensus on middle eastern affairs, and :rolleyes: there is never a blameless side.

The problem with cashing out the AK♥ is you lose a ♠ trick by doing so, since you'll have to overtake the ten to get into your hand later. I've spent way too much time thinking about this problem, and am probably still getting it wrong, but I think I like cashing the AK♦ immediately. I think ♦s being 3-2 are still a slight favourite, and as jukmoi says if they're 3-2 AK♦ wins (take 4 spades, 2 hearts, 5 diamonds (if the queen falls, 4 + 1 ruff, if the queen does not fall, 3 + 2 ruffs) and 1 club. A♦ then finesse is no better if LHO has 3♦s. If LHO has 4♦s, you have problems - if you draw 4 rounds of trump you're 1 trick short, and will have to rely on the heart queen dropping or a club finesse. If you don't draw trumps, you can't unblock spades safely, so you're still a trick short. (The finesse also loses immediate to RHO having Q or Qx in ♦s.) If I'm wrong, I look forward to being straightened out. I've lost sleep over this danged hand.... V

For every complaint about private games/clubs on these forums, there are 20 complaints about open games/tournaments. That alone should answer your question.

Well, feel free to call the director on me. If nothing else, maybe getting comfortable with director calls will help a rookie like me not be so terrified the next time I have to call the director. I don't want to derail the thread, but getting a few director visits to the table is probably GOOD for rookies - helps to put them at ease, and reduces the likelihood that they'll get steamrolled by some club shark.

Having the 9 in your hand is different from X. In this case, the ace DOES win if RHO started with J or Jx. You and partner have 17HCP between you. LHO has shown 7 HCP so far. With RHO having 6-10 say for his vulnerable 2♥ bid, there's still a whole lot of HCP unaccounted for. You really don't have solid info on who has the J♠ - anyone could have it. It would be different if you and partner had 26-27 HCP between you. Now, after LHO shows up with the AK♦, the odds are very much in favour of RHO having the J♠, and the A♠ is more likely to be the right play. 0.02

Well if you're sure RHO is out of diamonds, you'd better ruff high, right? If your ruff with the ace, you'd better hope that spades are 3-2, and the doubleton contains the jack. That's a lot to ask for. If you ruff with the ten, you'd better hope that spades are 3-2, and that LHO has the jack, whether he has 3 or 2 spades. If you ruff low, or don't ruff at all, you'd better hope spades are 5-0 with LHO. Um, nope, still lose a trump trick. Your odds of avoiding a trump loser aren't good, but the ten seems right.

I hope blackpool/cardiff is on tv here. I agree that the german league is quite sustainable. Someday, it may surpass the epl, espcially with the rampant financial problems in england this year. As for la liga being ahead of serie A, I agree for the top 2, but after that spain is rapidly turning into scotland.
