Upcoming changes to BBO procedure
Rossoneri replied to wnt53's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
From the perspective of a NBO trying to negotiate with BBO, the whole experience has been disappointing. Back in April, I was told that BBO is "busy" and will not be negotiating new deals. Fast forward to June and we get told that whatever existing tournament rights we have to run free games will be taken away 1st August and that details will be announced soon (which never materialized). BBO Support just kept replying that Management will contact me soon after they are "back from holidays". This has been pretty much the most of July, and there was NO mention at all about what happens to existing rights. Much as the support team has been fairly prompt with their replies, but the fact that BBO Management dropped us a bombshell and then went off to holidays just speaks volumes about how much they care. Given the above and how TD-unfriendly the BBO system is in general (adjusted scores take time to reflect, no easy way to check on all the current tournament scores etc., no possible way to give weight adjustments), it raises questions as to whether any payment is going be "worth it". -
Registered Pair not included in Tournament
Rossoneri replied to jdempsey52's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
This also happened to a pair today in a tournament I was running. -
You mean NBO that are already partnering with BBO before this. BBO support has turned down new NBO requests.

Can kIbitzing be allowed during BBO/ACBL/Common Game tournament?
Rossoneri replied to BudH's topic in General BBO Discussion
Allowing kibitzers is up to the tournament organiser, you can't do anything as a player. -
Sadly yes. My bad. Table result was 4S making exactly. NS feels they might have been damaged.
-
So what other information would you ask for?

[hv=pc=n&s=sa9haj9843dj86ckq&w=sq87432hq7daqt9c8&n=st5ht62dk43cj6432&e=skj6hk5d752cat975&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=p1c1h1s(E%20alerted%20as%20%22denying%20spades%22)p1np2s(Hesitation)p3s(Hesitation)p4sppp]399|300[/hv] NS called the director at the end of the auction to reserve their rights. The hesitations were undisputed, East even admitted that he thought for quite a while before bidding 3♠ as the auction made no sense to him. EW have no convention cards, but purportedly are playing 2/1. [Edit: forgot to add the table result] At the end of play, 4 Spades made exactly. NS now calls director back and say they might have been damaged. How would you rule? How would you set up a poll?

Settle An Argument
Rossoneri replied to eagles123's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
"standard" would be that pass is not forcing, as there hasn't been a GF. -
the HTTPS certificate is signed incorrectly.

Ok, thanks!

For the purposes of a task I was given (don't ask), I had to search for past competition participation and results for a subset of bridge players. I didn't see any good way other than to manually input names on the WBF website to access the information I required. Would anyone happen to know of a less painful solution?

Bridge year in review/upcoming goals
Rossoneri replied to CSGibson's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
In 2013, I spent >90% of my "bridge time" directing/administrating and probably about only 5% playing. -
It varies for tournament organisers, but I recall being compensated in some form the last few times I did vugraph.

第一副:手太弱,PASS。 第二副:DBL较灵活。 第三副:DBL。

3S 已向对方施压了,他们要决定叫4H或防3SX。 若你是南,你想防3Sx吗? 就像你所说,给了东西机会叫上6。

Israel, Bali, & the WBF.
Rossoneri replied to jillybean's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
After seeing a particular "bridge journalist" putting up unsubstantiated claims as "objective truths" repeatedly on Facebook the whole of the past week, I nearly vomitted out my lunch when I saw this thread. Suffice to say hrothgar has summed it up well, and the contents of my lunch will stay firmly in my stomach. My hope is that the involved parties will work out a reasonable solution as soon as possible and until then, certain people should really just keep their inflammatory and biased opinions to themselves. -
I'm with the passers, guess that makes me traditional?

Thanks for the replies, needed it for a ruling. FWIW, at the table where this auction happened, E bid 3H and got doubled, going 2 off.

You hold the following: [hv=pc=n&e=s73hk98763d7cqj52&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1d1sp2h(Good%20raise%20to%202S)p2s]133|200[/hv] What do you bid now? Assume you are playing 5 card majors, 15-17 NT and better minor (1♦ could be 3) Edit: Forgot to add it's IMPs, straight KO match
-
第二副牌,开叫1♦也应该不会叫到3NT,3NT也需要♦ 断3-3
-
Sounds like Law 23 will come out now.

Still, I think this would be better posted elsewhere.

Jeff Smith's suite certainly does.

WBF VP scale changes

No idea. Probably national trials where there's a small enough pool? -
Your favorite/worst loss ever
Rossoneri replied to ggwhiz's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
U-25 pairs in England a few years back. Made a stupid play which meant I went one off in 4♠X, could have made the contract and gotten 15 IMPs more against one of the two pairs which tied for first. We ended up in 3rd place, less than 15 IMPs behind them. That hand still haunts me.
