  1. 1. This one is tough. No guarantee anyone can make anything at this level. But I'll bid as I usually do in these situations. I'll try 4♠. 2. 3♠, with 3NT 2nd choise. 3. 1♠, what else??? 4. Pass.
  2. Partly agree with this. Certainly the 4♣ vs bad opps part. Against people who think etc I'd do mixed strategy here, sometimes 5♥, sometimes 4♣. The fake void splinter/EKCB is a well-known strategy, btw.
  3. Me too. But I'm quite sure we'd end up in 4♣. I'd not be too excited with the north hand.
  4. I'd try for slam. But I wouldn't be playing these methods - I'd have an out in 4NT.
  5. If that doesn't add up to 13; count your cards.
  6. I'm very surprised to see 3♣ be criticized at all. It seems like a completely normal bid. I'd like the ♣T (or possibly 9) to GF here.
  7. Obvious double to me. The problem, if any, will come later. Agree with Mikeh that 4♥ is a possible bid r/w, but I think I'd double then also.
  8. ♦4 with my main partner, leading 2nd/4th. ♦7 with my two other regulars. Tough one at MPs. Close to leading ♠K.
  9. Does everyone expect partner to take less than 10 tricks playing in ♥'s here? I'm bidding 4♥. Not because I'm afraid they'll make 3♠. I don't think we'll score enough defending even if we're beating 3♠ (which isn't a sure thing eventhough I expect one or two down).
  10. In my methods this woud be an easy 4NT - Exclusion BW. 4♦ already showed a void for me. I rebid 4♣ if you move a low ♥ to ♦s.
  11. Good luck with it. That has been shown by Emile Borel to blow a trick 5% of the time. (10% for an underlead, if you're interested.) Wow just 5%, that's a lot better than I'm doing now! Guess I should lead more aces. ROFLMAO
  12. Only 1 or 3 are possible IMO. I prefer 3, but can live with 1.
  13. It's normally OK to open lighter in 3rd seat. I do that a lot myself. But in Norway you can't have an agreement to (nor routinely do) open a hand a king or more below average strenght (7 hcp or less). If you do, you're system is classified as HUM. And HUM systems are generally disallowed. (They are allowed in long team matches at top level.)
  14. In Norway any defence is allowed over 1NT and artificial strong openings. Over 1NT I often play: 2♣=♦ OR both majors 2♥=♥ OR 4♠ + longer minor (5-5 is possible) 2♥=4♥ + longer minor (5-5 is possible) 2♠=natural 2NT=strong 2-suiter, almost GF
  15. Glorious indeed! I was close to tears. Never have I seen Tor as happy and proud as this. And even Erik smiled througout! Great stuff. Thanks a lot, Herve!
  16. Pass and double is out for sure - I have to make a bid here. Either 5♣ (planning to bid slam over 5♦) or 5♥. Probably the latter.
  17. Sick opening bid. 1♠ is soooo obvious. Having bid 4♣ and 4♥ I've completely bid my values. Easy pass over 4♠.
  18. One reason I like Drury (2-way) is that I frequently open 4cM in 3rd and 4th seat. 2-way Drury is then a good tool to evaluate the fit (number of trumps) and strength at the same time.
  19. 1. Global standard is that x=t/o. (I've played double as strong balanced and 2NT as t/o). 2. Depends. If you play leaping Michaels (lM) (4m=♥+m) 4NT normally would show both minors. But that againd depends on whether 4m would be forcing or not. Without lM 4NT should initially be treated as both minors, but overcaller will be able to correct a 5♣ preference to 5♦ showing the red suits. 3. Playing leaping Michaels 3♠ would be a stopper ask. Showing a solid suit and side stoppers wanting to play 3NT or a strong 1-suiter too strong for a direct overcall and not suited for a t/o double. Without lM 3♠ normally shows a 2-suiter with ♥ and a minor. 4. Yes.
  20. Musta been in an agressive mood yesterday, pretty sure I'd only open 3D NV and 2D vul. Agree.
  21. Agree with this, and what Justin said later.
  22. Yeah. The "problem" with the fragment rebid is that sometimes you're 6421 or 5521, and then the fragment bid isn't such a great bid, to put it mildly. And with 5431 making a fragment bid on Jxx isn't such an enticing idea either. Whereas the shortness bid always shows shortness - which you've got.
  23. I can't get excited about this hand. In other words, you're skilfully managing to find a way to stay out of what'll turn out to be a cold game :) Another case of "complicating yourself"? lol Well, if making the value bid (inviting game) misses a game, so be it. :(
  24. The worst bids in descending order starting with the worst: 4♥ - 3♥ - 2♦ - 3♣ - 6♥. 3♣ is an overbid and 6♥ too, but less so. 2♦ is a huge overbid and south's continuation is insane.
  25. The most used structure in Norway: 3new = natural non-minimum 3M = extra lenght 3NT = 18-19 4new = void 4M = minimum (in effect balanced) After 2M-2N-3new: 3x=singleton 3M=asks for singleton 3NT=ask for cuebid (some use 3NT as RKCB)
