With either explanation, be it splinter or Exclusion KC, dummies heart shortness is indicated. In either case, either a trump or a heart lead is called for. The failure to lead either of these, then complaining that a club resulted in a bad score defies any bridge logic. This is, I think, what the director means when he says, "the lead was not affected by the misexplanation". The auction says, lead a trump or lead a heart, and yet the guy chose to lead a club anyway. Too bad. So, yes, I agree with the directors ruling.

who do you think gives the worse value for money

I'm surprised "Bridge Pro/Teacher" didnt make the list. :) -
It wasn't on fire either.... I have no problem accepting that Building 7 "might" have been intentionally destroyed. So what? It had been evacuated by that point in time, right? But really, enough of the conspiracy theory bullshit on the other two. Big plane, weighs a lot, hits building, catches fire, burns, building collapses. Duh. Enough of the nonsense already.
-
Did the NIST report take into account anywhere the factor of having an extra 400-500 tons or so (approximately 900,000 pounds) of weight being added into the building as a possible cause of collapse? Just curious.
-
From what I have read, no time in history has a building totally collapsed due to fire - again, if you have a link supporting your claim, it would be good to see. Oh please, can you cite another instance where a building has been struck by a 747?

I don't know, call the director? Kinda hard for RHO to ruff the spade Queen, seeing as how spades are trumps and all that.... (I'm guessing you mean the contract is actually 4♥?)

I LOVE THIS GAME

reformatted, if I read it correctly [hv=d=e&v=e&n=saht85dkjt86ck543&w=s976hq96d742ca876&e=sqj2hak2da953cqjt&s=skt8543hj743dqc92]399|300|Scoring: MP BIDDING GOES 1D-1S-P-1NT P*-2S-DBL**-3NT*** P-P-DBL-P P-4H****-DBL-P P-4S***** - DBL- ALL PASS * 15-17 ** Penalty *** Suicidal **** Natural? Psychotic? ***** 2S was doubled for penalty, but maybe they will forget to double 4. [/hv] -
Not sure how you think 3H is making if partner holds that hand. Sure its possible, but its also unlikely. In the meantime, Double. Support for all other suits, and if partner has a penalty double of 3H, wonderful.
-
I would have michaeled the hand to start with. Having failed to do so, and with partner freely bidding 4S (with no indication of my spade holding at the time), 6S seems absolutely clear now.

Part 1 is true. Part 2, I think you will find most people will play systems on after a 1N overcall. However, in the original SAYC version, systems were off, iirc. I prefer systems on after 1N overcall.

Dont forget to add in: 4-3-1-5 hands that double in direct 3-3-2-5 that either double or bid 3C (in either seat) 4-3-1-5 hands that double in passout (54)-1-3 hands that double in direct and lastly (54)-1-3 hands that double in passout.

There is something seriously flawed in your "premises" if you truly find this to be the case.

That's a record that may be very hard to break as it would be pretty hard to accumulate 300 points including 50 black in <2 months while also playing enough non-club games to get the 50 silver, 25 gold, 25 red/gold, and 300 total. Black points may be won at locations other than clubs. They are also awarded at sectionals, regionals, and I suspect, even nationals. So that 50 black points could easily be obtained while playing at one of the other higher level tournaments.
-
ummm, I believe it is only 1/3 (not 1/2) that are allowed to be applied to any "rank" status. So for Life Master, only 100 points can be colorless, the rest must be pigmented.

The standard lead marked on the ACBL convention card is the Q from a holding of KQ109 (vs. NT) and specifically asks for the unblock of the Jack if partner has it.

normal or nasty?

Because the correct syntax appears to be an opening tag of [ SIZE=x ], and the closing tag is just [ /SIZE ]. (remove the spaces inside the [].) i would have opened 1NT (Size = 7 in this line) i would have opened 1NT (Size = 1 in this line) -
I think this hand is terrible for a 4C bid. jmoo. This was opener: it was the other hand that bid 4♣, if I read the post correctly... but I wouldn't have opened this hand... a rare duck, but this hand is too good for a weak two and wrong for a one-bid. However, if partner believed that this cannot exist, so I HAD to do one or the other or never show my hand at all, I'd open 1♠. Ok, fine. I stand corrected (I misread the problem). I will reword my previous posting. This hand is terrible for a 1♠ opening, imo. :P

Adam, I will take it for granted your percentages are correct. Isnt there a better line though? Play a club to the 9. 50% of the time it wins, 50% it loses. Assuming it wins, now all you need is one of two spade finesses. (Of course, if it loses, you are immediately down). Surely this is better than the 27%-30% in all your listed lines. No?
-
What they said. :) And btw, you actually got 24.04%, not a single digit percentage, if thats any consolation. ;)

That reminds me.... A girl from the South and a girl from the North were seated side by side on a plane. The girl from the South, being friendly and all, said, "So, where ya'll from?" The Northern girl said, "From a place where they know better than to use a preposition at the end of a sentence." The girl from the South sat quietly for a few moments and then replied, "So, where ya'll from, bitch?"

GIB says the contract is makeable at this point. (It became makeable once they returned the diamond into the AQ). and you hand it back to them here.
