Looking for Non-Natural system players
scoob replied to EarlPurple's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
well, i've never witnessed it happen to anyone but myself and llammas - but it always makes me laugh when it happens to us *shrug* -
mmm.. good point

nice work Ger! any chance we'll see a [bIDDING] option anytime soon that spaces out the bids: [BIDDING=South,1[cl],Pass,1[he],Pass,4[he],Pass,Pass,Pass][/BIDDING] http://www.speedofwood.com/junk/bbobids.jpg

i think we'll find that if this embedded explorer window pans out, that profiles will eventually become completely web-based, which has the advantage of being split from the core gaming environment's existing server/bandwidth setup

Looking for Non-Natural system players
scoob replied to EarlPurple's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
frankly i think watching a system and/or it's lack of practice go completely awry is half of the fun. -
anything but ♥? :) i don't have very strict cue-bidding agreements with my reg. partner, so i might very well bid 5♠ here with a pickup i probably bid 5♦ though
-
yes i suppose you're right: the killing defense to my approach isn't the club switch after all, but keeping up hearts. go figure. (this is why i make llammas declare whenever possible)
-
i've got 3♠'s, 2♥'s, 1♦ and 2♣'s cold i'll overtake the ♥ because i can't risk LHO holding the J and switching to ♣ before i've setup dummy's 5th spade with an entry small ♦ to board only a 5-1 ♠ split can set me now

spoke to llammas, and he's game. currently we're available like this: thursdays & fridays: 5-8pm saturdays & sundays: noon-8pm (eastern times) -
a. 9♦ b. A♦

as you say: kaka

i have never had this problem. i believe if, when you are logging in, you check that "remember me" box, you'll not have this problem any longer. unless it's a setting in your browser itself that is killing your sessions early. *shrug*

when is it right to lead a doubleton
scoob replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
i was told that when leading a doubleton vs a suit, i should be able to stop the trump runout early enough to leave me one to ruff with. it should be noted that i'm make notoriously poor opening leads, no matter how much thought i think i've put into them. it is often joked that my opponents can safely bid up one level when i'm on lead. if only it weren't so true lol -
Tell me the old,old story as if to a child....
scoob replied to Laird's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Less see.. opponents bid TWO SUITS... so double isn't asking partner to bid that those ones... so you double and there is one unbid suit. You want your partner to take out... hmmmm.... what could it be? Long in the unbid suit and "support" or tolerance for partners suit? Call it snapdragon if you want.. this is a takeout double, the actual definition (long in unbid suit, general support) is all it COULD POSSIBLE mean if it is takeout. Ben you're quite right - apparently i need to read the entire post before i start replying  -

scoob replied to Laird's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
"snap-dragon" doubles shouldn't be confused with the rest of these, they specifically show the a good 5-card holding in the 4th unbid suit, and a -tolerance- for partner's bid suit ie. (1C) - 1H - (1S) - X = diamonds & tolerance for hearts -
well?
-
i chose ♥3 but i'd really prefer to lead the 9
-
1) yes 2) i believe the distinguishing feature in the eyes of the GCC is that michaels is a defensive bid, while 1H is an open, which cannot promise an undisclosed 2nd 5card suit in one of the older versions of the system llammas and i play now, our 2major opens showed a natural major & an undisclosed minor, with 2NT asking for that minor - it didn't fly with the GCC so we were forced to change them. it's a strange little world over here in GCC land lol

much faster! i have noticed one possible bug, but i haven't had a chance to attempt to recreate it enough times to be sure: when kibitzing a table and bbo is in the background or not the active application, and the hand at the table is passed out, bbo is forced into the foreground to become the active application. very small thing, really - but i suspect it may be somehow related to the new IE hook.

Time for BB Forum FAQs document ?
scoob replied to Chamaco's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
in my experience, forum faq's are generally just kept in a locked & sticky post in one of the forums - no point in setting up a whole new page off of the forums when it's all readily available here. Question?Brief Answer, with link to existing thread or another site where reader may research further if necessary. I'm sure we could have an open thread first to let the active members contribute to the initial content of the FAQ and then someone (ben, i suspect) to compile them neatly into a locked & sticky thread as mentioned above. -

you can relax; if llammas and i have an off day, we're usually good for 40 or 50 imps to our opps :) -
A very bad day I want to learn GOLF
scoob replied to sceptic's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
ease up on sceptic - he wasn't the one bidding 4♠, he just had to declare it. -

i think my f2f partner and i would like to get in on this. i'll have to double check with his schedule, though - traditionally in the range of 5pm-8pm Eastern time (New York) works for us with more flexibility on the weekends. there's a copy of our system here
