  1. Well, a typical hand for partner here would be something like AKx AQJ Kxx AQJx 6 looks pretty reasonable, so I just bid it and don't give them the chance to suggest a lead. Without the JT of ♦ I would pass.
  2. I think that there are enough variables in play that West can do whatever he wants at this stage. However, if he does something patently anti-percentage (e.g. passing with a 16 count), and it ends up being right, an adjustment may be in order.
  3. If you'd ever consider this a minimum I would suggest that describing the 2♥ bid as weak is not full disclosure. 3♠. If I don't bid it with this might as well take it off the card.
  4. Sorry, but I don't really think this is a A/E worth question. It basically boils down to: Q: I got to 7 off a needed card? A: So ask for that card.
  5. I strongly suspect insufficient sample size.
  6. I don't like the blast of 7♥. The north hand isn't as good as it's count with a massive heart fit. QJ of ♥ aren't pulling full weight. I would have asked for specific kings over 5♥. Over 6♣, I would ask for the ♦K with 6♦, and partner would deny by signing off in 6♥. If partner bids 7♣ to show the K♦, I can count 13.
  7. 1. 2NT response to 1 of minor without previously passing Natural (13+, balanced, unlikely to have 4 card major) Non-standard. SAYC says it's 13-15, although most who claim to play SAYC don't know that. Just about everyone else plays it as 11-12. 2. 2NT response to 1 of major without previously passing Jacoby is near universal. 3. 2NT response to 1 of minor having previously passed Natural (11-12, balanced, unlikely to have 4 card major) The same as by an unpassed hand, but frankly not a bid I'd make very often. If you think your hand is that good, maybe you should have opened? 4. 2NT response to 1 of major having previously passed Still Jacoby for most people. 5. 2NT overcall of 1NT 2NT does not exist in DONT.
  8. I chose the rather conservative 2♦ bid on the actual hand. The hand
  9. Assume standardish 2/1 methods. If you have some special treatment that handles this hand feel free to mention it. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sjtxhqjxdak8xxxca]133|100|Scoring: IMP 1♦ - (p) - 1♠ - (p) ?[/hv]
  10. At our table (this hand is from the ACBL Instant Matchpoint game, for anyone that hasn't guessed), we didn't get any interference. Even without I think it's almost obvious to blast 6♣ presuming north has some way of showing a balanced hands with values. It was easier in my case because I know partner has exactly xx of ♥ and at least 3 clubs, but it's really hard to construct hands opposite which 6♣ isn't at least a good shot, if not laydown.
  11. I also got to 6♣ here..different auction though 1♣ (16+, forcing) - 1NT (GF balanced, 8-13) 2♥ (5+ cards) - 3NT 6♣
  12. No, you cannot win masterpoints in non-tournement play. The ONLY way to win ACBL masterpoints on BBO is in ACBL santioned tournments. As to your second point...that's why the ACBL games are stratified. Since you can set the skill level to whatever you want, using that as a restriction is kinda pointless.
  13. [hv=d=e&v=e&s=st43ht954dt876c96]133|100|Scoring: IMP (p) - p - (1♠) - 2♠ (4♠) - p - (p) - X (p) - ?[/hv] Italian national champion on your right, unknowns across and to your left, but generally assumed to be competant players.
  14. Uday, I think he point was that as a frequent traveler his browser/PC are often not set to "local" time.
  15. Learn to bid around GIB's weaknesses, of which delicate quantitative slam bidding is certainly one.
  16. 4♦ shows the 5-5. Double is takeout. It...is...that...simple.
  17. Call me a simple soul, but maybe X 3♦. In other words, take the normal action. Don't expect to invent a sequence and have gib understand it.
  18. More information is good here... Approx. skill level Timezone Types of tournements, etc
  19. Hrrm, well, that is a mess. That said, I'm not feeling very well towards *either* side here. I'm tempted to say that no table result can be obtained at this point, with both sides at fault. I don't think I can call a partnership that fails to notice dummys lack of play *twice* non-offending.
  20. Isn't Declarer's LHO also at fault for not counting his cards prior to play?
  21. I think 2♦ is obvious. Those straining to get to get to 3NT aren't considering the scoring. At MP I'm mainly trying to go plus on this board...I think that's enough. At IMPs my considerations would be different. Besides, it's certainly not like 2♦ bars partner. I'm allowed to be max for my bid occasionally.
  22. Any TD awarding 5♠= here should be shot. S clearly thinks the diamonds are all high, so the normal line is to the K, then back to the A, which gives you a trick. Given the disgraceful state of the ACBL directing on BBO, this doesn't surprise me in the least.
