  1. X for me. Mostly hopeing partner can pass. Too much shape to pass.
  2. Then you should have said you were playing GIB, not bridge. Any resemblance between the two is coincidental.
  3. I wouldn 't just consider it, I'd insist upon it. I don't like 4♥, anyway. Why not just start with a natural, forcing, 3c?
  4. I'm not sure there are formal requirements...anything from the last 10 years should be more than capable.
  5. Which means, playing a system with 3 weak twos, as OP states, you open the hand 2♠. end of discussion.
  6. Which means, playing a system with 3 weak twos, as OP states, you open the hand 2♠. end of discussion.
  7. If you just open a preempt like sane person you don't find yourself making a GF bid on an 8 count.
  8. The key lesson here is that it's better to overbid EARLY (not that this is an overbid). Most sequences have ways to slow things down later... catching up is nearly impossible.
  9. I'm going to make the bid which most resembles my hand, which is 2NT.
  10. You're going to look pretty foolish whenever partner comes down with a spade void, and/or 7m makes.
  11. Given that I think you gotta bid.
  12. Partnership style is important here. How solid are partners direct bids over 2M?
  13. Right now, when you claim, the opponents get a message that just says "I claim N tricks". Opponents almost always assume this means ALL of the tricks. If instead the message were augmented a bit, this would be much more obvious: Just also indicate how many tricks you're NOT claiming also, e.g. "I claim 8 more tricks, you get 2 tricks" if claiming with 10 tricks remaining.
  14. I'm just gonna bid 6N. Not gonna be possible to have an intelligent auction here, and I'm not going to make the opponents life any easier.
  15. The 3N rebid on 5=3=5=0 is gross when 3d is available.
  16. No, 2♥ shows 5, not 6.
  17. The pendulum is perhaps swinging back the other way a bit given the utter cheese that people are bidding on these days...
  18. Cast my vote in with the 1♠ openers. I hate opening 2♣ on any hand, and with a stiff heart I'm not worried about 1♠ getting passed out. Plus, while we're very control rich, the trick taking potential of this hand on it's own is nothing amazing.
  19. 100% *not* a FP. 4♥ does not promise strength. It isn't a voluntary GF. 4♥ can easily be a hand like xx Qxxxxx Qxxx x
  20. At teams (and probably at MP), 4♥. Don't think it's especially close, either.
  21. I think you need to get over your ego. 2♥ is a bid. It's not against the laws of bridge. Frankly, with an attitude like that, I expect the sharper players in the club have you pretty well figured out, which makes bids like that even more likely to win.
  22. Defenders against slam tend to just take their two cashing tricks, whereas against again they will often defend more passively, because they're trying to beat _4_.
  23. Looks fine to me if that's their style. You don't specify what jurisdiction. The 2NT bid shows at least an ace less. Your partner should still probably raise but 2N is the grossest bid of the 3.
