3C WTP for me, Im not afraid to raise to 2S with Hx and extras values so here im not even tempted to bid 2S/2Nt

Would have bid 2S clearly too strong for 1S in standard style. Over 2D partner can bid X/2H/2Nt/3C/3H/3S/4D/4S and they all show pretty good hands. So here the hands where I would bid 3D are clubs hands too strong for 3C, and 3 card support with a stiff D (often 5H/3S) that are too strong for 2S/3S. I would bid 4D COG but i dont think its show maximum range. With 5-6 pts and 5215 or 5323 I will also bid 4D.

X and pass partner bid, but i dont think we are that far from slam. Partner is red and doubled 2H in direct seat. At imps add a little something (Q of D) and im bidding 5NT (PAS) for sure.

3H can be both, I dont expect partner to bid 3Nt without a stopper or to bid 4C with a club bust because he doesnt have a stopper. Anyway my hand is perfect for 4D COG. When no fit is clearly established, 4cuebid and 4Nt are NOT slam tries/ace asking, they are COG. If you play transfer Lebensohl or Sohl, 3D over the X would be transfer to H inv or better, So 2nt-3C-3H is 4H inv. Any1 play like this ?

IMO doubling/overbidding with a strong balanced when you have a strong nt behind you is a beginner mistake, being in front rather than behind is just not the same thing. Use the double for something else, anything else.

The theoretical anwser is that West should discard randomly from a pool of S and D. (and of course never discard a H or the K of S). he has 4S/2D at this point and he has to make 3 discards. One of them is always a S. So he should discard SDD about 10%,SSS about 30% and SSD 60%. So this is why this problem is counter intuitive. After west discard 2 D we know that Spades are more likely to break a priori 54 than 27. However only 10% of the 5152 really count (because 90% of the times when west is 5152 hes NOT going to discard 2 diamonds). So that why if dummy had Ax in S and you play against a perfect defender you would have no clues on who to finesse because 5152--4432x10% equal the frequency of 2452-7132x100% (West with a 2452 is always going to discard 2D+1S)

The problem IMO is not assessing running vs not running, its assessing 3C vs others bids. I dont think you will find many players that think taht 3C is better than pass or XX. Since XX will lead to -1100 and pass will lead to -500, 3C deserve a penalty imo. Maybe -300 (over the -200 to give -500) is too much, but to give no penalty goes agaisnt the spirit of the rules IMO. Maybe the rule should make the distinction between a 2 way shot and a bad bid but they dont.

I would give +200 NS and -500 for EW, In (3Dx/pass average) hes going to be -800 so I give 3C a cost of -300 pts. Giving a penalty/redress for 3C is clearcut imo. Edited no hes going to be -1100 in 3D. I would average pass (-500) and 3Dx (-1100) for West expected result.

The captains are the 1st name of the teams. So players that want to participate send messages or email to the captains. Art please foward me the CC of the Philadelphia league. Hopefully captains will give me opinions on what they prefer. So far 3 captains like one match every 3 weeks and I think 3 to 4 month for 1 season is adequate so that why i prefer not to have too many teams in a RR. If captains agree we could have a 7th team but that would be my personnal limit. So we try to fill the teams first and than we add a team of not. If all goes well maybe the 2nd season we can have more teams or play 2 matchs per month.

Teams of 6 or 8 doesnt matters. I dont suggest making a team of only 4, but if you do make sure to be very available on the weekends. Last chance for becoming a captain. im doing no assigment and we are doing no draft pick. So players reach out for captain and captain ask for players. Wyman and MickyB are captains now. Wyman has his team already filled I think. PS captain we need to share our emails. I dont think Europeans are going to have a problem with scheduling. Worst case scenario is West coast at -8 and Germany at +1. so the start can be at 9-to 11 am on the West Coast and start at 18H-20H in Germany.

Declarer doesnt have a H void therefore he probably have a strong 2 suiter (5161/4171). Even if he had a 1 suiter im afraid he discard a club on the 3rd S. Im cashing my A of clubs but with no great conviction.

Declarer has at least 4S and 5H. With 4531 it give partner 5S and 3D so he wont X with that shape. So its highly likely partner is 5251 and declarer 4513. Declarer will be able to get rid of it slow club loser on the K of diamonds so I think giving partner his ruff is better than playing a low trumps. I expect to make both m aces a ruff and the K of S.

6 or 8 is no problem the question is do we allow teams of only 4 players ? Score formula could be like. (imps + 45) +10 (if you win) -----where imps is between -45 and 45. So if you win by 5imps you get 60pts and the other team 40 (-5+45) if you win/lose by more than 45 imps its a blitz (you get 0 the other team 100) if you win by 1 you get 56--opps 44 I also think a carryover of 10% for the final is ok. So if the winning team won the RR with 350 and the 2nd team has 320 than team 1 get a 3 imps head start.

Too much money and there might be cheating. Entry fees are also going to be a pain to collect (unless there a BBO$ feature that i dont know). I think every teams will manage to book 1 match per 3 weeks without problems. In worse case scenario teams that fall back on the schedule might need to take subs or play at a fixed time on a weekend. (1PM ET= 10am PT = 18H to 20H in Europe should be fine for most of the teams. The important point is to have serious teams captains. Being a captain goes like this, you ask your teammates when they are available, after that you offer match to the others teams (all of them at the same time) then you confirm your matchs. When one of the match is confirmed you can put it on bbo forum for others to kibbitz if they want and you post the score. For a player you need to be available about 3 evening per 2 weeks or a weekend day per 2 weeks and youre ok for the beginning of the season. For people in Asia its of course tougher but on the weekend there is usually a solution. So please i need some volunteer captains. Once we will have captains they will decided the time schedule of the whole season/prize distribution (100-50$ or 150$ or bbo$ ?) and if we allow substitutes players if we are late in the season and how many boards we play.
