  2. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=saqj10976hjdjck942]133|100|Scoring: MP Po jednostranne drazbe 1♠-1NT(F1)[/hv].
  3. 6.5 LTC means that 4♥ is quite safe and conservative bid. I'm used to playing 5332 or 4332 or 4322, so green vs. red my hand is good enough even in the most conservative setting. (And if partner supports my suit, bidding 5♥ over whatever opps come with, I would gladly raise that to 6♥, knowing that I have originally underbid the hand :). (Yes, green vs. red I will open 4♥ with any hand that would go down 5, making 5 tricks. Here 6 tricks are sure, 7th needs the heart finesse). green vs. green I would open 4♥ as well, red vs. red I would maybe toss a coin (playing 4332) or bid 3♥ (playing 4322)
  4. Raptor fan here  (Although I know it by the name of Polish NT). When comparing the merits of natural 1NT overcall and Raptor, you should take frequencies of both bids into consideration. Strong NT does not happen that often. Note that 16-18 is definitely less than half as frequent as 15-17 (and many people playing 15-17 openings still prefer 16-18 overcall). On the other hand, Raptor can occur on most frequent HCP ranges (8-15(17)) and it's benefits also include hands where partner overcalls in 2m, denying major 4card. The negative inferences can be quite helpful when it comes to it. My humble opinion could be thus summed up as: 1) Raptor comes in handy for many partscore battles 2) 1NT natural overcall does not occur so frequently - and when it does, many times you don't really want to play in 3NT (or even 1NT when partner is broke). 3) Losing the 1NT natural overcall hurts only in cases where your partner has most of the remaining points, which often (though not always) means that you'll be given enough room to explore the game. I've been playing Raptor for a few years and I don't recall many cases where I'd miss a game because I could not overcall 1NT. On the other hand, I have already bid a few marginal games based on finding minor AND major fit early ;), I've already nailed a few good partscores easily, I've defended a few hands well with the knowledge from negative inferences etc...
  5. S listem severu 4♠. Nekde tady beha hromada srdci a kdyz partner nezahajil, bude to asi u souperu. Mam to pravda snadny, hrajem destruktivky, takze ten 5list srdcovej muze mit akorat s 9+ bodama. S listem vychodu? Mno, kontra mi partner asi zapasuje - takze zatnu zuby, pomodlim se a reknu 5♥
  6. Proc by nemoh? Idealni rozloha 1435 s AQxx v srdcich a AKxxx v trefech.
- no to by meli getnout i ti pomalejsi :-)
  8. If the 4♣ splinter denies 16HCP or so, then with a minimum hand it is criminal to bid anything but 4♥. The odds for finding the perfect hand are too low to be worth the risk. Believe me, I am a pro when it comes to 5M-1 (because against "this and that" it would be a good slam. Give me 4 small clubs and AJx in either remaining suit and I will show interest gladly, because now the odds of a reasonable slam are much higher. AJxx against singleton is worth one trick. AJxx against Kx(xx) is worth 2 to 4 tricks.
  9. I've been using the following: When evaluating single hand, doubleton is +1, singleton +2 and void +3. When a fit is found, doubleton remains +1, singleton +3 and void +5. Of course, adjustments to this should be made: 1) If my shortness is in a suit my partner has, value it much less 2) If my trump length is 3, value it less 3) If my trump length is 5, value it less unless we have a superfit. (Quite often, getting forced early is pretty bad 4) If my trump holding contains honors, value it less. (AKx, AQJx are bad holdings in this sense, Kxxxx or xxxx is optimal holding. That said, tend to bid major games on 24 good points (working honors, working shortnesses). The math is simple. When you have a working singleton (against empty 3-4card) and 20 HCP, youre now in contest of 10 out of 12 tricks in a 30-HCP deck, which has some odds for success with as little as 22 HCP (if you're missing i.e. K, K, Q in the remaining suits. With two working singletons, you're battling for 10 out of 11 tricks in a 20HCP deck, which should be enough lacking an ace or two queens or whatever :).
  10. Bavime se o situaci, kdy partner tehle ruky pasoval zahajeni 1♦. To muzes slam minout jen velmi tezko.
  11. I would transfer in most cases, but I can imagine hands that are better off in 1NT - the two cases being: 1) no points outside the spade suit, mid-range (4-6 HCP). Here there is a possibility that partner will be able to pull home 4-5 spade tricks if he has the fit. Imagine AQxxx. Against Kxx this sounds nice, against xx still 1.5 tricks. In spade contract, the first option rarely scores less, but the second (small doubleton) might create extra tricks for defense (whereas in NT, if spades don't work, I could still try another suit.) 2) bad values (10 to Q) all outside spades. I can let my partner live with "I always transfer" and treat these rare hands as judgement calls against the system.
  12. If hearts break 3-2, this is very easy - cash two top hearts and switch to spades, small to king first, then second to ace. This way, with spades 4-1 onside, the last trump will ruff my spade winner but I can still catch the jack, with spades 4-1 offside I will still have two entries so I can cash the spade (let it be ruffed) and still take the club return on table, ruff the spade jack, ruff another diamond and discard the last club on the spade... If hearts are 4-1, there's no way for spade contract to score any better than 11 tricks.
  13. Neda .
  14. Nahodou, 3NT je dooost dobrej rebid :-), zvlast kdyz po tom reopen kontru souperu ukazes tvrdy nervy a necuknes do kuli . Taky tu trefu nevynesli, Fraba ukazal 10 stychu a souperi se pak dost dlouho nemohli dohodnout, esli za to moh ten reopen nebo ten, co nevynes trefu :)
Pokud vase rozhodnuti zalezi na stavu mansi ci hodnoceni, rozliste to. 1) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 2) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 3) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 4) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 5) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 6) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv] 7) [hv=s=skjxxxhxxxdxxcjxx]133|100|[/hv]
  18. apart from the actual point ranges, I would agree on each of them. I prefer sound responses, so with 5-4, I would sometimes do the GF jump with 18+ (and the nonforce therefore 12-17 or bad 18). Also, with strong 5422 and values in doubletons, I'd prefer a NT rebid, especially if you have the spade suit well stopped. 4♣ definitely splinter with 4card support (and trumps that CAN be spared for ruffing, i.e. not AKQx B)) 5♣ EKC makes sense, but you'd need a monster hand for this, because partner might have a ton of club values, meaning you're already way over the last makeable contract. I would imagine 2-5-6-0 shape or 3-4-6-0 shape. I don't think partner's pass makes a difference.
  19. Definitely... the 2M response says roughly 6-9 HCP, so with a balanced hand and 5card to develop, 3NT might be a good contract. Responder with ruffing power and sharp values would go to major game, with bad shape and good points bid 3NT, otherwise decide by scoring (I would prefer 3M at IMP scoring, definitely). In the long run, you'll find out that it pays off to use 2NT as one or another type of help-suit game exploration, based on the fact that 15-17 hands with 5M are way too infrequent to give up a good sophisticated way to explore possible games on marginal point counts.
  20. Yes, don't put your email address in your BBO profile. B) Well, the problem is, many of us would LIKE to have our email address in our profile, so that legitimate bridge friends can find it, without it being exposed to automated capture for spam purposes. There must be some way to put it into the cache, perhaps by disguising the @ or some such thing that would make it unusable by spammers but still show normally in our profiles. I think that it's a bad idea to have your e-mail address ANYWHERE public if you don't like spam and you happen to have a crappy provider that can't protect you from most spam. If you really want your e-mail to be accessible to your bridge friends, don't you think they can just drop you a message on BBO asking for that e-mail? Furthermore, if anybody actually IS retrieving data from BBO members' profiles, he is NOT using some generic tool that will get easily confused by disguising @ etc. While there is a very remote possibility that the BBO server has been attacked even without the admins knowing it, I would bet on client-side breach or packet sniffing along the way. In any case, the person extracting the emails must have taken steps to get specific information from specific places. I imagine somebody created an account on BBO with the sole purpose of logging in and getting the profiles of all logged members. If the BBO changes the format it stores the emails in, that person will simply modify the tool to extract those emails. Well, on the other hand, it certainly would not hurt if the e-mails weren't stored in plaintext in files on the user's harddisk, as most worm viruses extract e-mails from infected computers and it's really no big deal for them to just sniff every accessed file... But, in short, I suggest that you keep your e-mail to yourself and give it on demand, that you use a separate e-mail for any web registrations and stuff, and you get a decent provider that can filter at least the known spam :)
  21. Since I play 1♠ as definitely forcing, I would prefer this bid to GF if partner tends to open lightly. What could I hear as a rebid? 1NT - bid 4♥ afterwards and hope that my spade bid causes opps to misdefend :) 2♣ - now bid only 3♥ (showing a good limit raise), because the hands don't work well together. 2♦ - Now things look better, 3♣ GF will not hurt. I can learn about club wastage in partner's hand. 2♥ - easy 4♥ here. Any other bid is no problem.... If I decide to bid 2♦ as the first response, I'm robbing myself of a few extra possibilities to either explore the slam or avoid a bad game. Imagine partner with 3514 distribution and measly 12 HCP... The only risk of 1SP response is missing a slam when partner has KJx in diamonds and early spade stopper - not showing long diamonds might then be fatal.
To uz bych fakt radsi zkusil nacpat partnera do peti kar.
