  1. Playing bridge lose ho did last mistake. Last mistake is 4♠, do this is losing overbid. Why? Because 3♠ is not inv raise, N can bid 3♥ cue with that hand. Was 3♠ right bid? Yes, despite few hcp, because they are perfect for ♠ contract: fill in ♠ and side A. It is true that A will be better to be in side suit and will be nice to have some distribution, but life is not perfect... Distribution can have your partner... It is true also, how posted Ben, that from reopen position p count some hcp in your hand, but not such perfect hcp... And if from reopen position he have 2 suiter, most of pairs difficulte menage such hands (look meta overcals here in forum) Misho
  2. 4♦ competitive bid. I didn't expect opps to pass, probably they will bid 4♥, where I can bid 5♣. Having 7-4 is not good idea to bid your second suit directly, because lack of entries. Misho
  3. Hi Luke! Why 1/1 NF? -> Because with weak range of NT you will pass (yes, even with doubleton) and 1NT rebid show stronger range of NT. This way rebid show unbalanced hand (1♠ rebid contain also stronger range of NT with 4♠). What to bid after 1♦ opening? ->Good continuation doesn't exist. Like after 1NT opening you can play many schemes, all of them bad. Depending of what you most like to sacrifice, you can choose one or invent next bad one :D. Misho
  4. Hi Tiger! Read about "Meta overcalls" here in forum. I will answer by examples: 1. 1♣ - (3♠) - ? dbl: ♣ or ♦ or bal without ♠ stopper 3NT: to play 4♣: RF, ♣+♥ 4♦: RF, ♦+♥ 4♥: to play 4♠: slam try, 5+♥, unbalanced 4NT: slam try, ♣+♦ 2. 1♣ - (p) - 1♦{negative} - (3♠) ? dbl: ♣ or ♦ or bal hand without ♠ stopper 3NT: to play 4♣: RF, ♣+♥ 4♦: RF, ♦+♥ 4♥: to play 4♠: slam try, 5+♥, unbalanced 4NT: slam try, ♣+♦ 3. 1♣ - (p) - 1♥{8+, 5+♥} - (3♠) ? pass: penalty or take out dbl: Garozzo 2/3 double - 2/3 cards in ♠, deny ♥ support 3NT: to play 4♣/♦: suit(values) + ♥ fit 4♥: to play 4♠: slam try, ♣+♦, ♠ control(shortness) 4NT: slam try, ♣+♦, deny ♠ control Misho
  5. Yes Ben, mistake in example, sorry, I will correct it, thank you! Misho
  6. I had a long discussion of greatest bulgarian bridge theorist uncle Bill. Some of ideas are mine, but general direction was given by him. Method "BM2SC" of continuation after 2 suiters: With RHO silent: Direct bids in shown suits are negative(competitive), jump fits are preemtive(or mixed). Unbidded suit without jump is natural and NF but inv, not sign off. Unbidded suit with jump below/above game show solid suit, GF with slam interest, jump at game denied slam interest. 2NT(or 4NT without jump after leaping michaels): any inv hand or strong hand with lower suit(m) fit or strong hand with unbid suit. P describe his hand by paradox bids (skipped bid means higher play at skipped suit). 3NT: to play (or preemtive raise without any defense if you play R/S method). Cue bid: -if 2NT(4NT) is available: limit+ raise of higher suit (M). -f 2NT(4NT) is not available: : limit+ raise of any suit, paradox responses RHO bid: like silent RHO, except: Pass after opps dbl: equal negative choice or strong hand for penalty double later. 2NT: inv+ raise lower suit(m) or strong hand with unbid suit. DBL/RDBL: -if 2NT(4NT) is available: limit+ raise of higher suit (M). -if 2NT(4NT) is not available: : limit+ raise of any suit, paradox responses Cue bid: slam interest, any hand, paradox responses Examples: (1♦) - 2♦ - p - ? 2♥/♠: negative 3/4♥/♠: preemptive 2NT: any inv, paradox continuations 3♣: nat, NF, inv 3♦: fit ♠, limit raise+ 3NT: to play (or R/S weak preempt) 4♣: solid or semi solid 6+♣, slam interest 4♦: fit, slam interest, any M, paradox continuations (1♦) - 2♦ - (DBL) - ? Pass: equal choice or strong missfit RDBL: fit ♠, inv+ 2NT: fit ♥, inv+ (1♦) - 2♦ - (3♦) - ? DBL: inv+, any, paradox responses (1♠) - 2NT - (p) - ? 3♣/♦: negative choice 4/5♣/♦: preemptive 3♥: nat, NF, inv 3♠: inv+, any, paradox continuations 3NT: to play (or R/S weak preempt) 4♥: to play, limit 4♠: fit, slam interest, paradox continuations (1♠) - 2NT - (DBL) - ? Pass: equal choice or strong missfit RDBL: inv+, any 3♠: slam interest, any, paradox continuations (1♠) - 2NT - (3♠) - ? DBL: inv+, any, paradox continuations 4♠: slam interest, any, paradox continuations (1♠) - p - (1NT) - 2♦{5+♦-4+♥} (p) - ? pass/2♥: negative 3/4♦/♥: preemptive 2♠: fit ♥, inv+ 2NT: fit ♦, inv+ 3♣: nat, NF, inv 3♠: slam interest, any, paradox continuations 3NT: (or R/S weak preempt) (1♠) - p - (1NT) - 2♦{5+♦-4+♥} (DBL) - ? RDBL: 3 fit ♥, inv+ 2♠: 4+ fit ♥, inv+ 2NT: fit ♦, inv+ (1♠) - p - (1NT) - 2♦{5+♦-4+♥} (2♠) - ? DBL: fit ♥, inv+ 2NT: fit ♦, inv+ P.S. Ben, on 2 suiters 2NT must have opposite meaning (minor fit instead of major fit) because level and right sided NT contracts. On 1 suited overcalls still normal meaning of 2NT: on major constructive, on minor preemtive/gf. Misho
  7. Wonderful exhaustive theory of endplay from Slothy, what a clever man! I need to add only for those who feel instead of think at table :P . Emotional endplay definition: You go to toilet(elimination), use it(tenaces) and stay there(squeese) while opps who need it(endplay) do their job outside(benefit). :) Misho
  8. Pass, form 3th position my py expect me to pass with almost any hand. Misho
  9. 1. DBL: ♦ or ♠ with ♥ semi fit or strong. Rebid of 4♥ on expected 4♦ will show to my p that I will bid 4♠ but have ♥ semi fit too. DBL is passable because my bid of 4 level, but normally my p will pull my dbl. 2. Nothing strange, you p have ♦ support as well as 4♠. Passing on 3♥ is not good bid, because limited by previous free negative 2♦ bid hand. Need to bid 3♠ and you will not have problem of final decision. As long as you decide to not bid 3♠ you must also pass 4♣ to continue already taken direction. Worse p are these who change their mind all time during the bidding... Misho P.S. Ben, you can't dbl 2♣, because it will be penalty dbl if p's dbl on 1NT was take out...
  10. Use response structure of Fantoni-Nunes system - 1/1 = 0-9HCP, NF. Because of your limited openings you can pass also in some cases, instead of bid for example 1NT after 1♦ opening. Forcing response with 10+hcp on 1♣ will be 1NT, on 1♦ - 2♣. Misho
  11. Happy birthday golden one! ;) I wish you to keep your spirit and feeling of life as fresh as they are now trought the years. And allow nature to do her job to your face and you will be proud owner of new magnificent adornment B) . your friend Misho
  12. Hi Tiger! 1. Bids: 1♠-2♥ 2♠-3♥ 4♣-4♦ 4♥-4NT 5♥-6♥ 2. No ;) Misho
  13. Thank you very much all friends, I missed this post too, sorry. I am very happy man to have such great friends :) . Kiss you all (platonic for men :P ). Don't worry, be happy, cup is half full :) Misho
  14. This is from my NTC version of precision: 1♣-(p)-? 1♦: 0-4 or 5-7 without 4M 1♥: 5+, 4+♠ 1♠: 5+, 4+♥ 1NT: 5+, 4+♥-4+♠ 2♣: 8+, bal or bad hand with minors 2♦: 0-4, 6+♥ or 8+, 5+♥ unbalanced 2♥: 0-4, 6+♠ or 8+, 5+♠ unbalanced 2♠: 8+, 5+♣ unbalanced, on 2NT relay like above bids with ♦ 2NT: 8+, 5+♣-5+♦ 3♣: 8+, 6+♦ 3♦: 8+, 6+♦-4+♣ 3♥: 8+, singleton/void♥, 5+♦-4+♣-3♠ 3♠: 8+, singleton/void♠, 5+♦-4+♣-3♥ 3NT,4♣,4♦,4♥: transfer for solid suit Note: Depend of strength of 1♣ opening, responses can be corrected Intervention: RHO after semipositive+: Garozzo 2/3 double, pass is for penalty or take out RHO after negative: std overcall structure, dbl is 2 zone of bal hand or opps suit with 2+ zone, pass is 1 zone of bal hand or trap pass with same zone LHO nat or nebulous bid: std overcall stucture with semipositive hand; dbl include 8+ with bal or semi bal hand(optional); cue bid show 8+ with shortness in overcall LHO 2 suited bid: UVU LHO alternative bid: use 1 suted hand as base of bidding. Misho
  15. Hi whereagles! About our method "Equality" of transfer bids in competition you can read here: http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...indpost&p=18392 http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...indpost&p=18420 http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...indpost&p=18417 http://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...indpost&p=18419 http://forums.bridgebase.com/ind...indpost&p=30735 http://forums.bridgebase.com/ind...indpost&p=39502 Will be very nice if you can write there your opinion, as well as anybody too. We with Ben are somehow tired of dialogue way of posting there... I am still wondering why such posters like Ron, Luis, Richard... didn't wrote there... PS Ben, read general definition of our method, it was updated by me. Misho
  16. (1♠) - 2♣ - (p) - 2♦{5+♥} (p) - 3♣{max, good ♣} - (p) - 3♦{GF, stopper+♦} (p) - 3♥{Tx♥} - {p) - 3♠{♠ stopper ask} (dbl) - rdbl{1 control ♠} - (p) - 4♣{fit, slam interest} (p) - 4♥{A/K♥, agree for slam} (p) - 5C{odd KC, deny ♠ control} (p) - 5♦{false control, KC enough for grand} - (p) - 5NT{Q♣ but nothing more} 6♣{without Q ♥ 7♣ is not good contract} - all pass Because of bold bids I hope opps to lead ♠ and I to make 6♣ with expected 4-1♥ and 3-1♣. If I bid and make 6♣ will be wining contract at any tournament, I just don't need 7 in competition, where 90% of field will play simple game. Misho
  17. Hi Luis, depend of agreements, but is much better if 2♥ deny semi fit, because in missfit is more difficult for opps to double us with less bidding from us. Misho
  18. Me too  . If 5♠ bid is from my RHO, I am forcing pass. If 5♠ from LHO and forcing pass from my p, then 5NT(pick up slam). If 5♠ from LHO and dbl from my p, I am pass. Misho
  19. 1NT with weak hand and fit is right way. Misho
  20. 1♦. I prefer partnership style of play and like to include ♦ suit in battle. Most of time will be some kind of intervention after my 1NT and I will need to make final guess, which is losing position normally. In addition ♦ suit as source of tricks can help for 3NT with low values. Misho
  21. NTC allow you to show any AKQxxx+ suit as responder... Look: http://www.geocities.com/daniel_neill_2000/sys/index.html for NTC system  Misho
  22. 5♥ - more than enough  Misho
  23. dbl: ♣ or ♦ or 5+♥ with semi support ♠ or strong bal(1NT can be psyche or comic) 2♣: 4+♣-4+♥ 2♦: 4+♦-4+♥ 2♥: 5+♥ 2♠: ♠ raise 2NT: inv+ ♠ raise In example 2♣ Misho
