After mini NT (9-12): 1. Without intervention: 2CL: weak stayman 2DI: GF, nat or weak transfer in 5+HE 2HE: GF, nat or weak transfer in 5+SP 2SP: GF, nat or weak transfer in 5+CL 2NT: GF, stayman 3CL: GF, nat or weak transfer in DI ... any other bids above, say nat pre-empts 2. After DBL from opp RDBL: strong, will dbl them Pass: 3-4 CL, weak 2CL: 0-2 or 5+CL 2DI and above, nat, weak Note: after 1NT-(dbl)-2CL-(dbl), Pass-Pass-RDBL=SOS, 2-CL Misho -
Opening any NT with long suit you MUST have at least one 3 major (1) or if you open with 5 major you MUST have 3 cards (2) in other major. Need, if you partner have both majors (1) or 5+ cards in other major (2). Misho

I dont like any natural 1/2NT opening, but I played with JeiJei 1NT opening as follow: 1. 1/2 position: not vul: 9-11 vul:15-17 2. 3/4 - 14-16 Note: After 9-11 ( or 10-12 ) you need different responses and different bids after opp intervention! Misho -
Misho sometimes you are just too friendly :-) How can you thank your pd for bidding first 1 spade and then 4 spades on board 2. If he was in a tactical manouver for whatever reason then no problem but if he really pretended to have those bids something is really wrong.... :-) Besides my 6c and then all pass answers I do think I ought to have a conversation with pd after the session, we can't have two lunatics on the same table. Hi Luis. At 2 board partner by bidding send me massage: "I have too much distribution and nothing for defence". I normally believe "to death" to my partner or just dont play with him. I expect from him same - not to think for me as lunatic, but searching reason for my unusual bids ::). About 6CL - depend from opponents ofcourse, against beginners i will bid simple 6CL too ;D. 1. We have slam, possible grand. They have cheap sacrifice, even against game. If i bid directly 6CL is sure they wil bid 6SP. My bid is 5CL. After expected 5SP - 6CL. If they are so good to bid 6SP, then: if i am next to 6SP bid, i will Pass - forcing pass for 7, if partner have A; if partner is next to 6SP and passed, i will bid 7 ( without A he must dbl, his pass is forcing too with A ); if he dbl them, i will bid 6NT, over 7SP - dbl. 2. 5SP. Thanks to parner, he make my decision easy. If he jump in SP early i will not be sure to do that, because i will expect some hcp in his hand and they can be down on 5HE. 3. Lets count distribution of deal first: Opener have 5+SP and 5+DI. Responder with 4SP show VERY good support in DI, 5+ cards at least, 2 cards in SP ( didnt give fit directly ). Responder havent singleton/void in HE, because can bid 4HE showing same hand, but with shortness in HE. But he think about 5DI as possible contract, so he have 3-4 cards in HE, expecting opener to have singleton/void in HE. Next hcp. Opener: 13-15hcp, partner 13-15hcp, in my hand 8hcp, so opp responder have 2-6hcp. To think about 5DI he have A in DI ( or in SP, but with less chance ). I think he like 4SP bid instead of 4DI because he have J in SP and may be 10. xxx AKJ10xx - KQxx AKxxx J10 x xxxx KQJxx Axxxx Jx xx Qxx Qx 10xx Axxxx Conclusion: Pass 4. Pass, i like my partner ::). 5. Pass, i like my partner ::). Misho

Misho's Offer part 2...Precision
mishovnbg replied to Laird's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Hi Peter, i will answer, but risk of usage is yours ;D 1. About bluffs. FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT RESPONDER IS COMMANDER, else bluffs will cost you lot of loss imp/MP, if not worse - money :'(. This mean ANY game bid from responder is sign off, despite previous bids. It is not so bad as you can think, because often responder have enough information below 3NT to decide best contract. Hard to imagine how many different bluffs i made, but will try to describe some of them. 1.1. 1SP response to 1HE opening is near standard for me without SP when i have great fit in HE. Raise to 4SP from opener is near never happen and over raise to 3 my 3NT or 4HE is for sign off. 1.2. 1NT response with near 0 hacp in favorite vul. I will pass any response, jump one will be with good distribution. 1.3. False 2/1 in minor to play 3NT later. My partner will raise to 4 minor only with wild distribution - almost never. If he do, i will return to major with 2 cards for sign off. 1.4. False raise with 2 cards to 2 level. I prefer to do same with hand suitable for suit contract, because bitter experiencem :o. 1.5. False game try after major raise - easy and safe - try it. At bulgarian tournament i do opposite - rebluff, because most of players expect i to bluff, lol. 1.6. 3NT - "To play" with suit for pre-empt in favorite vul. Uff........ May be enough? Remember, partner MUST know RESPONDER IS COMANNDER!!!!! 2. Reverses after limited opening. I will give you several examples instead of describing. 2.1. 1DI-1HE, 2SP: 13-15hcp, at least 6D-4SP, hcp are in long suits 2.2. 1DI-1HE/SP, 2NT: 13-15hcp, 6+DI, 6 direct tricks on NT 2.3. 1HE-1SP, 3CL: 13-15hcp, 5+-5+ hcp in long suits 2.4. 1SP-2CL, 3DI: 13-15hcp, 5+-5+ hcp in long suits Misho -
Misho's Offer part 2...Precision
mishovnbg replied to Laird's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Hi friends, all comments and questions are welcome :). [glow=blue,2,300]Precision club[/glow] Unlike SAYC, Polish club, French five major ... where most of bids and gadgets are standardized, precision club have lot of variants. I will try to explain in this post the reason of same great diversity. For experienced/advanced players - please read Ron's (The_Hog) post in this topic - i agree with all that he wrote there. General idea of Precision club is VERY limited openings(11-15hcp). The result is opening with 1CL with all other strong hands. It is possible to open 1DI or even Strong pass instead of 1CL and will not change general idea. Why do you need limited openings, if you can play well with 12-21 opening? For fun ofcourse too ;D. But VERY important is same opening made you "commander" of deal. ( I strongly recommend you to read Robson/Segal book "Partnersip bidding" about wining strategy of such bidding in competition ). "Commander" can make GREAT tactical and bluff bids, like: strong "preempt" raise to 4 level, waiting opponents to bid for dbl them; crazy "preempt" without fear from strong opener; bluffing in suit and close to game; ... If you dont like tactical and bluff bids - DONT play Precision club!!! If you cant use potential of limited openings and receive all negatives from 1CL hcp opening - you will lose much more often, than playing simple SAYC. Basic Precision ( C.Wei version ): 1CL: 16+hcp, any 1DI: 11-15 hcp, 2+DI, without 5 major, weak NT, 6+CL, 5+CL-4 major 1HE/SP: 11-15hcp, 5+HE/SP 1NT: 13-15hcp, bal 2CL: 11-15hcp, 5+CL-4 major or 6+CL 2DI: 11-15hcp, 4414, 4405, 4-3-1-5/3415 with bad CL, singleton or void DI 2HE/SP: weak 2 2NT: 22-23hcp, bal Notes: - Strong jump shifts to 1DI/HE/SP opening: 16+hcp, slam interest - 1DI-2DI response is natural 2/1 forcing 1 round - 1CL-1DI response except normal negative 0-7hcp may include "impossible negative": 8+hcp, 4441 any singleton Advantages: 1CL opening allow low level auction and lead to easy bidding of games and enough space to investigate slams. Limited 11-15 opening often lead to quick arrival to game, hard for defence due to lack of information. Reverses of limited opener is distributional only and is possible to reach games and slams with few hcp, based on good placement of it. Disadvantages: 1CL is often target of special defence like multi bids, bluffs and crazy preempts. This lead to unpredictable result for both sides, but more often lose 1CL opener, because he have statistical game on his line. 1DI with 2-3 cards sometimes lead to bad contracts in DI. 2CL opening lose much bidding space and missing game in major is possible, if responder dont have enough hcp to bid. [glow=blue,2,300]Versions - HCP limits[/glow] Generally 2 types: 1. Change 1NT to 15-17(14-16)hcp. 1DI opening include 11-14 hcp, bal. Main idea is to make 1CL opening stronger, easy to rebid in competition too. Some of versions extend limit of 1DI opening ( sometimes 1HE/1SP too ) to 17hcp. Some of them open 1DI even with void. Example of same version is "Power Precision" - Sontag and Weischel. Most popular in Bulgaria is similar version with 2DI multi and 2HE/SP dutch. Result -> 1CL opening is better, but 1DI opening is worse. Instead of 1 bad opening - 1CL you have already 2 - 1CL and 1DI. 2. Change limits from 11-15 to (8)9-14(15). Reason is to open more often, giving information to partner early and increase chances for him to make right decision. Example of same version is "MOSCITO", can ask Ron (The_Hog) or Richard (hrothgar) about. Result -> 1CL remain vulnerable; extend of limits decrease possibility of quick arrival and tactical bids. [glow=blue,2,300]Versions - Opening suits[/glow] 1. Change 1DI to natural 4+ card ( Goren Precision). Include nicely DI suit in battle. Result -> With often 11-12hcp, bal you cant open. 2. Change 2DI to 2HE. For opponents are more difficulte to compete or dbl, because 2HE often can be passed unlike 2DI. 2DI is free for multi ( weak 2 in any major ), Wilkosz ( weak 5+-5+ with at least 1 major ), Ekren ( weak 4+-4+ )... 2SP ( with multi 2DI ) can be used for any good pre-empt to 3 level, while direct pre-empts can be bad... One of best bulgarian experts - Boian ( he often play in BBO - nick PPilot ) play similar with 9-14hcp limits and 1DI 4+ cards. Result -> May be best version of Precision and relative easy to play. 3. Change 1DI to 0 or 1+ cards. Reason is to free 2DI bid, because it rare happen. Result -> 1DI bid include lot of variants, with 5+CL bad suit too, come very often and is very hard for bidding. 4. Change 1 major opening to 4+ cards ( MOSCITO ). Reason is 4 cards in major come more often than 5. You can find 4-4 major fit quickly unlike natural system. Opponents must overcall at 2 level unlike after natural 1CL/1DI. Result -> You lose quick raise with 3 cards of 5 major opening. Your partner also must bid at 2 level. Sometimes cant stop at good 1NT contract. [glow=blue,2,300]Versions - Responses and rebids[/glow] 1. Relay responses to limited openings or to responses of 1CL opening. Reason is that opener ( responder to 1CL ) already show some distribution and hcp limit and is more easy, if he continue to show, while responder just ask for it. By absolute information sometimes is possible to reach game or slam, hard or impossible to bid by natural bidding. Relay response also leave lot of responses free for limited bids, best for MP tourney. Lack of information about hand of player, who ask by relays, make difficulte lead. Result -> If you are computer, best way is to play by relays ;D. Often counting steps answers to realys ( with fingers under the table :'( ) is so tiresome... In contrast to natural bidding ANY LITTLE MISTAKE normally lead to GREAT LOSS. Relays for game contract can lose chance for chocie of game - distribution and hcp limit is not enough, important also is pacement of H in suits. Dummy can be player who ask by relays and defence will be in same case on double dummy. 2. Transfer responses to 1CL opening. Most of time is better to play strong hand as after 1NT (15-18) opening. Also trsansfers allow nice relay ;) step in transfer suit. You can ask Dwayne Hoffman here in forum about Keylime precision. Result -> Best way for answers to strong hand. 3. Control responses to 1CL opening ( Blue club ). Reason is number of H controls ( A and K ) often limit contract to game or sure slam. Result -> 1CL opening already lose tempo, because not show any distribution. If responder also not show it, bidding is worse than natural system. Such response is also VERY vulnerable to pre-empt. 4. Asking bids from 1CL opening ( Super precision ). For strong hand is more easy to decide final contract by asking what it need for. Result -> Bidding space is not enough for distribution, amount and placemant of H - not a perfect world ::). Misho -
Hi friends, all comments and questions are welcome ::). [glow=red,2,300]Polish club[/glow] I will begin with this system, because many polish players come to play at BBO. Generally Polish club is like SAYC full - normal natural system. Openings ( new version - WJ2000 ). 1CL: 3 way: -weak NT: (11)12-14(15) -5(4)+CL, natural with 15+hcp -18+hcp, any 1DI: (11)-17(18)hcp, 5(4)+DI, unbalanced 1HE/SP: (11)-17(18)hcp, 5+HE/SP 1NT: 15-17hcp, balanced 2CL: 10-14hcp, 5+CL-4 major or 6+CL 2DI(Wilkosz): 6-11 hcp, 5+major-5+ any other suit, include other major 2HE/2SP: normal weak 2 2NT: 6-11hcp, 5+CL-5+DI Main idea of system is to bid 1CL with weak NT hands, even with 2 cards in CL. Reason of it is over 1CL opening you have easy negative bid - 1DI (not very usefull for other purposes), unlike after 1DI opening. You will not risk more opening 1CL/DI with 18-19 hcp and balanced hand to play at 3-2(3) fit too, because over 1CL opening your parner will bid at least 1DI negative. You also will play 1NT instead of 2NT with 20-21 hcp if your partner have 0-2 hcp. Example: 1CL-1DI 1NT: 18-21 hcp, bal Opening with weak 1 NT block opponent bidding, but block your partner bids too and also is risky for penalty dbl. Opening with 1CL with same hands allow you to play 1HE/SP contract if your partner is weak, unlike 1NT opening ( in vul same difference is wining ). Example: 1CL-1DI 1HE/SP: 12-14hcp, bal, 4(3)+HE/SP Answers - like SAYC full with inverted minor raises. Exception: 1HE/SP - 2NT: limit or better raise in major with at least 3 fit (like Jordan 2NT after dbl). Rebids: - like SAYC full, but jump reverse is distributional, because of opening limit of 17 hcp maximum. Exception: 1HE/SP-2CL/DI/HE, 2 HE/SP: 14-hcp, dont prommise 6 in major!!!. Yes, rebid 2 in major show minimum only and dont show distribution or 6 major. Same way play natural systems bulgarian, french... may be all european, i am not sure. All other rebids show some kind of maximum, include 2NT rebid and minor raise. One special rebid after 1CL opening and any 1 answer - 2DI odwrotka - show strong hand ( 3+ fit in responder major if exist) and ask partner for strength and length in answered major by steps. Normal answers: 1 step: 9-hcp, 4 major 2 step: 10+hcp, 4 major 3 step: 9-hcp, 5 major 4 step: 10+hcp, 5 major .... Example: 1CL-1HE, 2DI(odwrotka)-?: 2HE: 9-hcp, 4HE 2SP: 10+hcp, 4HE 2NT: 9-hcp, 5HE 3CL: 10+hcp, 5HE .... 1DI special response to 1CL opening show 3 way bid: - 0-6hcp, any -> rebid pass or non jump bid with 4-6 HCP Example: 1CL-DI, 1SP-2CL: 4-11 hcp, 5+CL, not invite game -7-11hcp, unbalanced without a 4+ major -> rebid 2 CL/DI natural with 8-hcp, 3CL/DI natural with 9-11 hcp and artifical jump rebid of 2SP 8-11 hcp with 5+-4+ in minors. Example: 1CL-DI, 1SP-3CL: 9-11hcp, 6+CL, invite game, but need serious fill in CL. -17+hcp,bal, without a 4+ major -> rebid 2NT Example: 1CL-DI, 1SP-2NT: 17+hcp,bal, without a 4+ major , slam interest Advantages: 1. 1CL opening ( some of it i was described obove ) - with strong hands is much better to bid than after 2CL opening, because your partner already give you some information by answer and you are still at low level. 2. Relative limited openings (12-17) - lack of 3 zone of HCP(18-21) make possible to bid jump reverses ONLY with clear distribution like 5-5 or 6-4 and allow to reach distributional games and slams. - Free for tactical and bluff bids, because opener will raise to 4 only wit very wild distribution. - More easy to handle opponents intervention and pre-empts, because limited openings give you more chances to make right decision. 3. Natural 1DI opening, normally with 5 cards and unbalanced hand include this suit nicely in battle. 4. Precision 2CL have same effect like 1DI. 5. 2DI+2NT structure cover all 2 suited hands. Disadvantages and defence: 1. 1CL opening include lot of hands and cannot be precise after opponent intervention. You can use against it one of many overcall stuctures invented against 1CL precision opening and undisciplined pre-empts. Difference is that you cant ( or at least not good ) bid simple overcalls only to disturb 1CL opening, your bids must have constructive meaning too, because most often 1CL show weak NT and game still may be in your line. Complex overcall structure can include both distrib only and constructive overcalls(Bocchi-Duboin). 2. 2DI Wikosza are like 2DI multi and you can use aginst it same defence. Main disadvantage of this opening is unlike 2DI multi responder must bid his BETTER major and can miss game with unexpected fit in major. Thats all bridge folks :). I havent a claim on absolute truth, if it exist. I just try to help, friends. Misho

I am romantic dreamer and believe that Utopia can exist it the future. Somebody said that democracy is not good form of governance, but people not invent better yet ::). Do you know normal country without police, court, jail ... No? What to do, human nature, law of evolution... :-. You cant prevent some of people from crime and only real way that exist is fear form punishment. Not good way of course, because crime still exist, but only way. Education can help only to people willing to be educated :-. Law and punishment are need in BBO too, how in any human community. I dont think is right somebody to enjoy cheating me, or may be it is right and i must start to cheating others? Law of jungle = law of BBO?! I hope Fred will publish general CLEAR RULES and CLEAR PENALTIES as soon as possible. I read existing rules of course, by the way i think very few of BBO members read them ??? Misho

Dear Luis, i ofcourse agree that knoledge can help. As i wrote i play very difficulte system and also study it with my partner. But great game Bridge is based on much guessing too, unlike chess. And is sure that winers except good players are also very good guessers. Thank you for wishes i hope it will be as you wrote. I wish you your hard work to be sucsessfull and often to know, instead of guess. Misho

Most important idea in R/S book in my opinion is not j/nj fit shifts, variable preempts ... and other entertaining stuff. Base is who succeed first to made his partner "commander" of deal probably will win it. Methods of R/S is only one way to do it and no need to be believer of god "R/S" or god "LTTC". Wining Bridge is Bridge of right decisions - technical knowledge can help, but can not replace it. You must help to partner for his decision as early as possible and you must play system of bidding ( marking too ) that allow him to do it. Take out double with any hand: strong, weak, balanced, distributional, 2 way ... work well only in "low and slow" auctions. For example how he can make right decision after often meet (1major)-dbl-(3major) auction, if he havent "clear" hand? Answer is that he must simple guess with 2-3 cards in opp fit. Partner can have balanced hand with more hcp and in this case is better to dbl opp or play 3NT, but he can also have distributional hand and in same case is better to play own contract. Ofcourse, if you are good "shooter", like me or Ben, then no problems :). Competitive system of bidding must show DISTRIBUTION FIRST and leave hcp to be shown to your partner by opp bids. This give him much more chances to make wining decision instead of dbl with wild distribution like 5440 or 6520 ( i still remember that dbl friend ::( ). My prefered system of overcalls: DBL: normal take out, may be little stronger, without wild distribution. 1NT: 4+ card in major - 5+ or 4441/5440 cue bid and 2NT: 2 suiters with opening+ (rule of 18) hand. 3 level cue bid: strong 1 suited hand without stop in opp suit or with slam interes. Jump suit: general weak, but depend of opp opening hcp and passed partner. Misho

You should be a good guesser, I prefer to know than to guess :-) I think that, if you prefer to know, than to guess, may be better for you to play chess, Luis. Playing Bridge you must guess almost every board. To know partner's system doesnt mean to play with him "2/1 with agreed gadgets". But you must know, for example, can he open weak 2 in not vul with 5 cards and 5332 distribution; if he dbl for penalty, it is for -1 or -2 .... As my partner Marian (Marit) said: " System is not what we wrote on paper partner ( we play very artifical system with transfers and relays even in competition ). System partner, is what we talk with you, while drinking several cisterns of beer 8) " Misho
-
DBL: 2 way mean at this level - bal or 1 suited minor hand without stop for 3NT. I dont like to bid over 3NT when it is still possible contract. Misho
-
I will not dbl with nice 2 suits and never with void. Over preempts i play 4CL/4DI as 2 suiter and in example i will bid 4CL. With 2A and 4 fit my p probably will bid 4HE as invit for slam and after 4NT RKCB we will play 6SP ( for 7 i must bid 5CL as new ask for Q/dubleton CL, but p can understand it as try of better slam ) Misho

Playing BBO standart (SAYC) or BBO 2/1 you no need to alert your bids, because anybody can read about in BBO library and it is standart system for BBO. Any other system or additional agreements must be alerted. Polish players can think what they like, but MUST follow rules of BBO. Additional job for volunteer director is not welcome, i know... Even you know opponent's system ( i personally played polish club ( WJ, NS ) about year ) you cannot know version/additions of it. Your words Luis remember me beautyfull times when i was ardent and naive young man 8). To win you dont need to know many systems, you need to know only partner's system ;D. About opponent's system you can just ask, including possible other bids. Transformation of player into a walking/living encydopedia can lead only to madhouse. I think that advanced/expert polish player know that he must alert 1CL opening, but we can just ask polish yellow about... Misho

1. You can get any result, include winer of tournament from "my hands". Mark by draging mouse, copy, go in Excel and paste there. Do same with your results. Now you can compare it. For details of particular board you must go again in "my hands". 2. One of reasons to win is not giving alert and information from most of polish players. I wrote about to Uday, but he had different point of view about "not serious yet BBO tournaments" ??? . 3. Polish club is much better then any natural system like 2/1, french standart ... Poles improve their system many years and have great experience with it. They also made most of inventions in bridge bidding in past century. Leading pairs in "scientific" bidding in the world like Bocchi-Duboin, Rumen-Kalin... play in vul openings similar to Polish club... If you like we can discuss sbout advantages/disadvantages of bidding systems. Misho

I really dont like 2SP bid Ben with only 4 cards. Additionally not usefull QHE and JDI for own contract. What do you think your partner will bid with same hand but 1SP less and 1 more card in other suit? I think again 7SP, now very bad contract. If you believe to god Law and trust to your partner best bid in my opinion is dbl as fit response, because for good partner is clear that you havent more then several hcp, so you cant bid without SP fit. Misho

Good/bad play of 3NT:)
mishovnbg replied to mishovnbg's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Hi luis, you are not intermediate/beginner i think, but will explain why you made mistake here. Bridge is not simple at BBO forum, what to say about life Bridge... 1. Even you give encourage signal on lead, on std marking is very simple to give second, not lowest card, from declarer, so you cannot understand your p signals. 2. If yor partner have second CL, he will give you also 8, std marking, so you also dont know have declarer KJx or KJ alone in CL. If he have KJ alone in CL and havent Q DI you make terrible mistake, "ducking and looking for p signals", will be too late ;D. 3. Ducking DI lead cannot help because opp ofcourse will put his/her high card in DI and change lead, you can easy answer where :D. 4. Playing SP to Q is little better but will most of time fail in this concrete hand, because you miss J1098 in SP and probably opp will put as second one of these cards and repeat he know what to return. If you put Q SP, you probably will receive continue lead in DI, but it will NOT HELP YOU. After you take Q DI and play clubs, will be easy now to duck CL enough times to receive TWO discards from p to be CLEAR where to play. For beginner/intermediate players only, if opp play std marking: Note you must give that card as declarer, which you give to lead as partner of opp. Example in 1 - you give from Q63 -> 6, because you like opp to continue play DI Misho -

Good/bad play of 3NT:)
mishovnbg replied to mishovnbg's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Advices for beginner/intermediate players: Remember that opp CANT see yuor cards, even experts B). To make opp defence difficulte: 1. Show as less as possible honour cards from your hand. For example in my post you must take A/K DI, not QDI! 2. When you have 2 or more H in hand put high one, not low. In my post, after A/K DI, if you play low CL from dummy, you must put K CL, NOT J CL. Now i will show you Eeast hand and you can say will East can make right decision on second! trick. East hand: Kxx, Q109x, J10xx, A10x Note: Opp use standart marking. On lead DI p give you low DI. On club he give 8 CL and one small card missing. Misho -
1. You hold: KQJx,xxx,Jxx,xxx. You open, unfav. vul. Bidding system: 2/1 Bids: pass-pass-1DI-(3CL) pass-pass-4CL-pass 4SP-pass-5DI-pass ? 2. You hold: KJx,AKQ109,Kx,Jxx Bidding system: Precision. You open, love all. 1CL(16+hcp)-pass-2CL(8+hcp,5+CL)-(2DI), 2HE -pass-2SP -pass, 3CL -pass-3HE -pass, 3SP -pass-4CL -pass, 4HE -pass-5DI -pass, ? Misho

Transfers after 1 major dbl are standart in my club in Varna. Disadvantage of any transfer is clear - you give opp 1 free bid. For example opp can dbl transfer to show suit and bid in transfer for take out. This is also main reason why transfer preempts are not so good. Misho

Alerting is need at table Uday, else no fair Bridge. Will be too late to begin punish for not alerted or bad explained bids when tournaments become "serious". Try to play against me and my partner, if we not alert and explain our bids. Believe me, will be not fun for you to play, result is not interesting. Misho
