It was Sharon's Dad (Don Arden) that was managing Black Sabbath at the time of Ozzy's firing. It was immediately after Ozzy's departure that Sharon began dating Ozzy and then managing him. Her father was not impressed to the point that claims have been made that he had a contract put out on her. During Ozzy's first solo tour he actually had a dwarf that came out on stage that they called Ronnie and they performed a mock hanging of Ronnie at one point in the show. IIRC, Ronnie James Dio was only 5'4".

Entering specifically an ACBL tournament I believe which is not free unless you volunteer to be a sub and get selected and place well enough to earn "Masterpoints" . Having no BBO Bux I assume that is how I got mine B) This is incorrect. The symbols are based on BBO masterpoints - not ACBL masterpoints. BBO masterpoints are awarded for Robot Races, Robot Rewards and possibly a few other things.

I very much doubt I could do it even if I had a gun against my head. In the absense of the gun, I would not have the patience to give it my best effort. I am pretty sure that my best effort would have been better 20 years ago than it is now. When we first created Bridge Master (in 1992), we used Eric Rodwell as one of our guinea pigs. If I recall correctly, he got 25 of 30 hands from A-5 right on his first attempt. It took Eric the better part of a day to accomplish this - it seemed like he was trying hard. At the time I thought that this was a remarkable performance (and I still do). I suspect that the number of players who could score this well would be very small. If you click on "Masterpoints" under the "My BBO" section on the web client it will show you an explanation of what they mean. Basically it shows a range of how many BBO Masterpoints the player has won.

I'd like to hear if Fred thinks he could do it. :-)

Considering that I don't have much time to work on it, I'm pretty pleased with my club's site that I do. It costs me about $6 per month for hosting through Yahoo, and that includes the unique domain name. I got that deal from being grandfathered into a plan that no longer exists but I think you can get the same for under $10 per month. Also, you can get free web sites but there are three main problems with that 1) You can't get a unique URL (but you can get one seperately and then redirect it to your free site 2) Your site will have ads on it that you don't control 3) Your capacity for files will be very limited. Anyway, if you want some help I'd be happy to share anything I've done. Just use the contact us link on my site, it sends an e-mail to me.

The law that people are refering to when they say this is 74B4. The thing is though that it's only illegal if you're not claiming just to piss off your opponents. If you're not claiming for any other reason you're okay.

On further review....why adjust to 5♥ down 3? Shouldn't it be just down 2?

I think it's clear that W used the UI. For all W knows (without the UI) his partner could have a near zero count and S raised the 3♥ bid to 4♥ planning on making it and possibly more. If E did indeed have a zero count then W could be down 4 or 5 in 5♠. I'd definitely agree with the director's ruling.

I didn't find it all that awesome because I was cheering for the #3 seed.

Better yet Jilly, just adopt my philosophy (and I've said this out loud at the table many times) "There are no rules in bridge, only guidelines." Sometimes you need to 1NT with two doubletons or a singleton, sometimes you need to bid a 3 card suit when it "promises" 4. Sometimes you need to make a bid that's the smallest lie, and when I do that I just roll out the line from above. It's more honest than claiming "I had a club mixed in with my spades" or similar. :)

Go Brewer's Retail! ( I used to live in Ontario....lol) Seems he was not so good either when he was third for Russ. :rolleyes: But he made up for it with his shotmaking. It must have been some time ago that you lived here. Quite a few years ago they changed the name to "The Beer Store". This is quite handy as even when sloshed one can still figure out what they sell.

Glen is the man!!! (Not much of a sweeper though, skips are always sucky sweepers.) I actually buy beer from Glen regularly, he runs the beer store in my hometown.

Unforgiven and Fast Times at Ridgemont High (especially the dubbed PG version - I love hearing them say "Fuzzy nerd", cracks me up every time).

I'm thinking that the 5♠ bid was actually showing 3 aces but it's really immaterial to the topic at hand so it doesn't really matter.
