  1. 5S?? i'm considering grand here. if i was sure 6D was a cue i'd bid 6D
  2. really uncommon. if 2s is plain t/o then this must be H+m two-suiter if 2s is already 2-suiter then this is long closed suit and something on the side, asking for stopper although from our hand looks like that's not the case
  3. at mp or imp nv i'd pass in a split of a second
  4. against a random player i'll always play that he's more likely to double with 12 than with 10 and shape
  5. n has a t/o double - good defence and a suit which can be bid on any level without fear
  6. Won't partner bid 2S with some 42(43) hands? I prefer not to play negative doubles after 1H-(2C) so that may influence my thinking. But, I would bid 2H. i think priority is 2 hearts rather than 4 spades. i would double on literally every hand except on 65-ers (and some dull 55-ers) and very long&very strong hearts. i'd pass only with 4+clubs of course this approach will bring me to rough spots from time to time, although frankly i can't remember when the last problem occurred. also, people around here are used to overcall on 2nd level with bad suits, like somebody taught them the only requirement is 10+hcp
  7. first is clearly nf as it was pointed out; 2nd is nf only because of initial pass imo
  8. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=s10hakq108xxdxxcaqx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] after rho opens 1♦ (4 cards) what's your action?
  9. 2d is a normal bidding action which will occur at any level of play, but is somewhat rare tho i think it's healthy to play it as pen
  10. double is just fine and the comment about it is annoying
  11. 2h oops forgot i can pass too. at teams definitely 2h, at mps i would probably pass. would be nice to know if pard can have 3 hearts
  12. IMPs, them NV, I guess I don't see the point. aces, spaces... and then pard is in the terrible position after direct 5c
  13. playing 3nt as a constructive transfer to 4s helps. cherdano condemned 4-th level bids after that as exclusion, but i would us'em with pleasure here. playing no special methods, pass
  14. at a glance i think Ah - Jh is superior by far but i might be missing something

    ??

i'd take x as cards and relatively balanced distribution and pass
  16. I would bid 4♠ playing IMPs, cross-IMPs, butler, MPs, BAM, at any colors, in a weak or strong field, against good or bad opponents, in a long or short match, no matter how long either of my opponents thought about their bids, regardless of the weather outside. i couldn't think of a good player who wouldn't make a sour face when introduced to this hand
  17. really tough, playing butler i'd bid 4s playing teams it would depend on the state of the match and anticipation of what could happen at the other table (although this can backfire)
  18. i'll go further - staying on the lead at trick 4 presents an agony for a thinking south who would bang his head with questions "why didn't he ruff?" and "why did he lead from empty ace instead of singleton".
