  1. transfer, but with 2 jacks or a queen more i'd pass for sure
  2. x on west, don't understand pass. torn between pass and 2h on east
  3. dbl than 5c doesn't that describe it?
  4. can't see what one can lose with x here
  5. that's not a good analogy. here's only one hand limited, in previous deal both were limited
  6. this isn't exactly my kind of 4c bid (prefer 4h). after 4c i'd bid 7h directly
  7. 5clubs for me 4cl was first instinct but i think it's hard for p to imagine all the beauty i have
  8. opening or passing in 1st both fine with me, now pass - double will often win but it's undisciplined
  9. sorry if i spoiled the fun, didn't see at first it's under B/I
  10. ruff one more h to prepare for trump coup if RHO is holding spade jack fourth
  11. pard could've played diamond at trick 2 with A10 or AJ 4th/5th. it's a tough play, but not impossible so i got one more reason to believe that declarer is blocked and that i should go passive with h.
  12. agree on this, but lead dQ
  13. on the conditions above, i'd surely finesse, afraid that i may screw up something that tired. however playing on dbl sq is somewhat attractive - requires a careful small spade from the hand at trick 2. if they return a spade they break dbl squeeze
  14. smells like a double squeeze or simple against 4h and cK left
  15. 4h is fine but i don't get passing the x esp. after pard bid 5h
  16. who needs 600 when you get 870? really, i find E's initial pass a bad decision and N's x and especially S's pass terrible decisions
  17. bad thing here is that it's dangerous to break the tempo - hypothetically declarer held small spade, winning defense could be spade back from p and that is unethical if tempo was broken i try to learn as much sound plays as i can for the situations where tempo is crucial (some of them are for ethical reasons and some for not making declarer's life easier) and differentiate them from positions over which i can ponder for a minute so i think it's sound to raise the ace here in tempo
  18. i encountered an interesting position recently. we play A=att, K=CT/UB for Q, Q=CT/UB for J, also J denies i held a strong hand with heart one-suiter and led HQ against 1NT opened and doubled, which was won by decl with ace. when my p was in hand he was unsure whether he should return heart (good if i had KQ10xxx), or side suit (good if i held AQJxxx) to avoid me getting endplayed. now, inferences could be drawn from declarer play and discards but anyway we came to the conclusion that it would be convenient that exception is made to "jack denies" when it is known that attacker is long&strong in the suit led, so that J shows AQJ
  19. too late, this is right in case part raised dK on the first round
  20. i guess i read the post too fast don't know how i managed to miscount trumps. with no endplay menace ducking is safe but you're right c10 is indeed the best play, and it's nice to see it at the table
  21. once i've read the article about similar topic. after computer simulation over large number of deals the conclusion was - if you are weaker than p, lead shorter major vs 3nt. i think it was written by luis argerich i've experienced numerous times when playing with weak players that their leads vs NT keep coming into my singletons when i'm the one who holds more cards. i find that annoying, so i try to make my pd happy by leading from short suit
