    53 cards

Teams game without TD. Closed room has played a board 4H+1. (Good play by declarer - North - to get the overtrick). Open room plays the board after closed room. Players pick up their card and before the bidding starts a kibitzer tells North (team B) that there is a card next to his chair. North picks up the card, and adds the card to his hand and the bidding starts. N-S bid to 4H. East leads and dummy comes up the table. North notices that there are 2 ♥A's (one in dummy and one in his hand) and tells the table. North has 14 card in his hand. 1) What is the correct ruling if TD is called at this moment. 2) Because there is no TD the players decide not to play the board. The result of the match without the canceled board is 12-18 for team B. But with 1 IMP more for team A the result would have been 13-17. Team A says that it would be very good possible (lets say this is 60% possible) that they would have kept 4H to 10 tricks and therefor with the canceled board it would have been 13-17. (I hope you can answer these questions without the actual hand and bidding)

    Experts

My own list (If I leave some really experts out then it is because there name is not fixed in my memory). - jlall - MikeH, FrancesHinden, Gwnn, Inquiry, Han, Rhm, Phil. Remarks: - for bidding problems I'm always happy when I took same bid as Justin. (and for play I'm often amazed by the psychology he indicates in his posts). - I'm not really sure if Inquiry is a bridge expert in real live, but I really liked some of his post initiatives (Squeezes, play/defend problems for beginners). He is an expert poster for me :) - I dislike: - - multiple - unrelated - hands in one post - - Bidding or hands that are not clear. Better use the hand diagram. - - Structure of Nige1's posts - I regret that Fred is not posting anymore. It would be a good check with Justin.
  3. Thanks for the answer. Remark: The reason for this post was another one where it was asked how to play trump for a slam in a 4-3 fit. I knew there were cases where finesse is better, but didn't know them by hard. This should now be more clear for me and other beginners :)
  4. If you have a 7-fit with partner containing AKQTx then you should only finesse with?: AKxxx - QT (If Jx would not help you). Is this complete or are there other combinations where finesse is better?

    Q9x

Q9x - ATxx What is best play of this combo for 3 tricks? Does it make a difference if you have: Q96 - AT72
  6. bidding: 1NT-2NT made 7 ticks. Declarer: "just made" RHO: "you made, but your partner did go 1 down."

    7H

Yes, I changed it after Fluffy's reply

A petty no-one is ranking them...we could start with Fred and Jlall :)
  9. Sorry, I didn't realize this.(Let's say that I'm the worst advanced that there is...Then I'm still allowed to read A/E?) BTW: These false cards I find interesting and I almost don't know any of them. I'll try to find if there exists a post in the forums (or internet) that lists the most important ones, so I don't make this mistake again.
  10. Which regular posters of very good experts? What is the top 5 ranking of regular posters for their Bridge expertise? => to have an idea when: - I have limited time which posts I should read first - When their are contradicting opinions on bidding or play, which to take most seriously. (not that all opinions are not important ;) )
  11. I don't see why RHO would ever play the K if you lead low from dummy. Maybe not cover if you lead the Q, but that also seems unlikely to me.

    7H

I changed North trumps, they weren't that good.

[hv=pc=n&s=skt32ha32dackjt92&n=saj54hkq7654d32ca]133|200[/hv] I was presented this hand at the bar. I don't know the bidding, but assume that opps didn't bid and South is playing 7♥. And you get a ♥ lead. What is the best play? I wonder what is most likely?: - ♣ 4-3 or - ♣Q 2nd/3th OR ♣Q/♠Q in same hand Edit: I changed North trumps from KQJxxx to KQxxxx Edit: Trumps will be 3-1
  14. [hv=pc=n&s=sq64hq987643dk8c7&w=skt2hajdaj653cak3&n=saj953hk5dq4ct964&e=s87ht2dt972cqj852&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=2nppp]399|300|MP's[/hv] I passed, but wondered afterwards if it wasn't better to bid. We have a 7c♥ and points are probably 20-20. 2NT made +2 when partner did lead a ♣ for a score of 6/14. 3♥ gets 100%. (This comes from a Jack Tournament)
  15. [hv=pc=n&s=sq64hq987643dk8c7&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=2npp]133|200|Matchpoints[/hv] Pass or 3♥ and is this obvious? Same at IMP's?

Can you explain this? Why did opener cue 4H and 5H when he has a ♦-control and already showed 3cH? Why is responder cueing C twice with only Kxx?
  17. How is this working? What is the next round and who is placed for it?
  18. Nigel, I think it is clearer to have 1 hand per post. Koen
  19. 2♣ is what I have. Rem: I still play Inv Min here: - 2♠=Inv+ with ♣-support; - 3♣=6-9 with ♣-support - 2NT=0-5 with ♣-support - 2♣=Xfer ♦ I would still bid 3♣ in my system. It is not likely that partner only has 2c♣

    D-Fit

When I bid 4NT I thought that 6♦ would possibly go down when partner was bidding 2 KC's. So I was happy that he did not have that and passed 5♦ without thinking. :( Then afterwards I was trying to be more clever and thought that ♦Q ask with 5♥ was maybe the best bid. Partner had: Axxx=J=AKxxxx=xx
  21. 4NT is quantitative. I would start with 4♦. - And bid 4NT over 4♥ (RKC for ♥) - And bid 4NT over 4♠ (RKC for ♦) - And bid 6♥ over 4NT
  22. IMP's/teams [hv=pc=n&s=sqt2hktdj8432ck32&n=s43hj9832daqca654&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=pp1hp1nppp]266|200[/hv] LHO leads a small ♠ (4th best) and RHO takes the ♠K and returns a small ♠. From the ♠-play you know that ♠ are 4-4 with the Opps. - It is best to play the ♠T on the 2nd trick? - Opps had ♠Jxxx versus ♠AKxx and win the first 4 ♠ tricks: - - What do you discard from dummy and you hand and what is you plan? Note: There is no clue in this hand. It wasn't clear at all for me what to discard and on what to play. I'm posting this to see what experts think about it & what the thinking process should be on this hand.

IMP's/Teams [hv=pc=n&s=sjhakq2dqt32ca432&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1d2c3c(C-fit%3B%20Inv+)p3h(extra%3B%20stopper%20for%203NT)3s4sp4n(RKC)p5d(3/0%20of%205)p]133|200[/hv] North's 4♠ is 1st/2nd round control in ♠ and denies a ♣-control. North could have bid 4♦ RKC if he wanted to. - Do you agree with your bidding so far?: - - Not sure if 4NT is ok with this hand. - - If partner would have given 2 Aces then we could well go down in 6♦ after a ♣-lead? - What do you call now?
  24. Why is that?Is there a difference in overcalling 2♦ and 2♥ Or is?: AQJTxx / xx / Kx / KQx 2♠ over 2♦ & 3♠ over 2♥
