1♠-2♣ 2♦-2♠: This would be invite with 3c♠. With 2c♠ you tend to bid 2NT. More difficult is: 1♠-2♣ 2♠-? : 3♠ would still be slam invite. With 3c♠ and invite we bid 4♠. With 2c♠ we bid 2NT or 4♠. (We make it ourselves more difficult by playing this 2♠ forcing). This 2nd sequence can be more difficult, but still we find the general agreement very useful that after 2/1 support on 3-level is slam invite.

I would forget about this hand, but change this. I don't play 2/1 GF but after 2/1 bid then any support (with or without jump) to level 3 is slam interest. That makes the bidding easier.

The impossible auction, and a bitch
kgr replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I play T-Walsh and if opps intervene on 1-level we play similar as T-Walsh (using DBL and RDBL as transfer) and similar follow-up. 1m-(1♥)-? - DBL: 4+♠ - 1♠= 6+HCP, 3-♠ (This can be with 6HCP, no ♥ stopper. We prefer to do our bids asap) - 1NT= 6-9HCP, stop ♥ -
In my opinion Focus is the most important for most bridgers to improve their game. With focus I mean: not being lazy, doing everything you can to play as good as possible. Most bridgers are too lazy at the table, they don't do their very best. I intended to do my best to know the exact distribution (like 5=3=3=2) of partner on every hand as soon as possible, using all available information (and when that works to know distribution of all players). That would make me a better player, but up till know I didn't manage to do this (only on some obvious hands). At least when the hand is finished I should know the exact distribution, even if I had 0 HCP, but I don't. Too lazy :( And it is not only distribution, also first card played by partner, first discard, details about small cards, .... It doesn't help to win most of the time at the club where I play. The short term award of more effort is almost zero, although I realize it would make me somehow a better player in the long term. (Zia wrote in a book that he played rubber bridge for more money than he could afford)

I think it is clear for East to play SQ iso SA at 1st trick? (It does help here)

Transfer responses over our 1m opening?
kgr replied to el mister's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Our response over the transfer is rather standard. With 5cH and invitational we start with DBL and hope to show it afterwards (e.g. DBL...2H). (for simplicity we always play 2NT as Good/bad, therefore 2D with 5cH and invitational would also cause issues. -
Rather Too much for 2♥ than not enough (1♥ of partner can be a bit stronger because DBL was in balancing position)

Transfer responses over our 1m opening?
kgr replied to el mister's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
We play transfer responses (including DBL and RDBL) if opps intervene below 1NT and we react similar as with T-Walsh. And we do that for our bids below 1NT. The advantage is that it is similar to T-walsh. And we also prefer to bid asap. E.g with 6HCP and no stop we can bid 1S. 1D-(DBL)-? RDBL=H, 1H=S, 1S=can be 1NT without stop or prefer NT bid in other hand, 1NT natural We also play transfer to in between bids, but I would consider this something else (and more difficult) 1C-(1S)-? - 1NT=Nat - 2C=5+D; weak or strong - 2D=5+H; weak or strong - 2H=5cH; 4+C, weak - 2S=C-fit, Inv+ - 2NT=natural - 3C=C-fit; 6-9 - 3D=6cD invite - 3H=6cH invite - 3S=splinter - 3NT=to play -
Thanks Thorvald. Note: I think that Gib also gives count most of the time when discarding

I wonder what is known about the Robots and what is still changed: - Are there two versions of Robots? Argine and Gib? and when is Argine used? - Is bidding and play of Gib still changed? Who is doing this? - What details are known about the Gib play? -- Does Gib play High encourage on my lead? -- Gib gives parity when discarding? (I think it does most of the time) -- Lead 4th?
-
I was too optimistic on this hand. But strange that GIB (North) bids 1st control in ♥ https://tinyurl.com/26xenfzq

East was 3=1=5=4 and West 6=1=2=4 ?

kgr replied to Cyberyeti's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I have the agreement with my partner that 2NT Lebensohl is Weak and we didn't add the requirement for 3-level call to have a good suit. Are you doing this for both (2S)-DBL-(P)-? and (2S)-P-(P)-DBL-(P)-? What do you bid with 4-card and not very weak or strong? e.g. with: xx=AQxx=Qxxx=xxx or xx=Qxx=Qxxx=AQxx -

Inverted Minors and the 2NT conundrum...

For me: 2NT 18-19 3NT to play 3m minimum (we play short club. After 2C then the minimum balanced goes via 2D...2NT) -
