  1. This is a tough decision here. If pard finds a dbl, I am certainly not defending 4SX with this hand, but I'd have to really wonder about partner, and myself (I bid 5C now, I'm 4th seat, bound to go plus). With Larry at least, he'd OPEN more often than not to save me from this plight.
  2. 1♥ for me; the majors is where it's at!
  3. 3♦. Looks like opps are major-centric.
  4. 2♥, loud and proud. Double is atrocious here.
  5. I followup with 6NT. Pard should be showing semi-solid to solid diamonds. I am not going to tho bank on pard holding A♣, and AKQ♦. Pard should convert to 7 if he has this hand.
  6. Gnasher, Once never knows these days the acumen of bridge players. I personally play 4♣ as a good playing hand not preemptive in this seat. And, then again, most players haven't discussed defending the multi in 4th seat much.
  7. At the table, I'd probably play along the concept of symmetry, and finesse the heart, regardless of what the actual math tells me otherwise.
  8. Another reason for 3NT - Let's say, West is on a 5422 hand, and as East, you're holding these major suit holdings: Jx Qx (and derivatives thereof) Now, there's even more reason to avoid 5m and get into your slow playing 3NT where you may need to run the opening lead around into these holdings.
  9. 3♥, clearcut. The 3♣ rebid is practically forcing to game for many (with me, only 3 ♦ rebid now is not GF). West 100%.
  10. I like 4♦ much more than I do 2NT. Consider LHO coming in with a four level minor preempt over 2NT. Now you might steer them into a cheap game/sac, even at these negative colors.
  11. Smack it around with an around the world and back snap.
  12. Feels very wrong to double here. I can't logically explain it, but I'm going with my gut. I bid 4NT, to protect teammates. I've seen a hand from one of my readings where this ended up hitting paydirt since the preemptor was walking the dog.
  13. Against weakish opps, I do lead a trump. Against decent opps, I consult "a higher power".
  14. I like 3D after 2S myself. That helps matters significantly. The opening will enjoy knowing the KQxx is opposite a working card/value.
  15. I gotta admit....I am completely lost in the opening jargon. LOL
  16. For me it is a matter of timing and logistics. It's in the middle of my cricket season here, which combined with school and such, did not allow me to spend the time. Additionally, Philly is so close to me, that I decided to participate in that instead. I also think that the time of year is very disadvantageous.
  17. I think the guidelines are both comprehensive and provide enough latitude for commentators to be themselves during the session. I like them a lot.
  18. I'll be happy to avoid slam once I hear 2NT. 2NT doesn't help me very much in getting the full value of my hand. 4♥ is plenty here.
  19. I am much more a fan of the 7x7 format than the 6x8 format, but I would personally angle towards the 8x7 format.
  20. Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat beer for me...along with Zicam.
  21. Either E is playing a deep game with us, or pard is really that dead broke. I choose option 1.
  22. This is a bad ruling. No agreement is that, no agreement. 930 should stand, and the TD needing further education.
  23. Requires both a prealert and alert in the auction. Larry and I have preprinted placards that address the prealert, and alert during our bidding.
  24. Consider Turbo and denial cuebids. Much easier to avoid the 5 level that way. There's exactly two sequences in C-cubed that is RKC.
