  1. Fred, Pretty slick so far on the iPhone.
  2. If not 2♥ with me, 2NT, and the more I have thought about it, 2NT is starting to be more appealing. If pard shows up with a stiff club, then our hand downgrades some and we can bid hearts en passant to game. After 1S-2H, with the 2/1 p'ship that I have locally, we rebid 2S with any minimum hand - any bid pass the 2M point is showing extras. Now I rebid 2S, showing a more minimum hand in context. I still get to locate pard's second suit fit and or shape (my fear is if he's single suited with a three card heart fragment, since we own the AQ of trumps, that side suit may get us home at slam).
  3. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sqxhakjxxdacqjt9x]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You are South in 2nd seat, and East (RHO) at white fires 3♦ at you. What do you do?
  4. I pass. Bidding 2D when pard didn't open....nah.
  5. Update: We have received quite a few inquiries, but so far nothing that has panned out. We're still looking, and practicing too!
  6. Mike, Your last post, I have printed and put on my bulletin board here. Lots of meat to chew on. FWIW, 2♥ with me, since it's a five card suit headed to an honor.
  7. I'm not a fan of 4D here. Once you know practically the entire hand, your length in spades is going to be a problem. Additionally, the slow cards in clubs may get me to 3NT versus 5D here.
  8. This year alone I've had both ends of the spectrum, and I can tell you that the girl that asked me out, I am still very happily involved with. So, be bold and ask!
  9. I gotta admit the adventures are rather entertaining. Happy birthday from both Larry and I.
  10. I think this should be a weighted ruling of percentages, i.e. the three part kind.
  11. In GCC events, I am a fan of Lionel. Everywhere else in the world, Multi-Landy / Jassem /Woosley / Robinson (you get the idea).
  12. Vista is a resource hog, and there's still some lingering compatibility issues with hardware and software. The User Account Control on the surface makes sense, but it is very hard to administer and we often have the users disable it. Service Pack 1 makes it ok, but XP runs this Dell laptop (Latitude D630) much, much better.
  13. If I have an A and K, I'm going to game with any hand with a five card suit in it - the three controls will be helpful to partner. With 5-5's, any hand with two or three controls should go to game. If memory serves, you'll have something like a 5 in 6 chance of hitting some fit. If your hand is quackish, downgrade, even the 8 counts. I completely agree with hrothgar about having some discussions about bailing out of an auction; for me, 4 of a minor should be a stopping point if there's a complete misfit (and at times 3 of a major).

Uni was well worth the cash - very, very good food there.
  15. 2NT, and with some pards, 3NT just to make sure we get to game.
  16. Part of the reason why Larry and I use Turbo and denial cuebidding, is to prevent any Exclusion and Kickback accidents.
  17. My sister was born in Alaska, and my mother enjoyed receiving those checks yearly from the gov't due to the oil profits.
  18. I tend to play Exclusion only at the five level (unless hearts, then 4S can be that). Removes any ambigious overtones.
  19. I think she'll just return to finish the job she started as governor.
  20. I think Last Train is a big no-no - I'd even go so far to rule out RKCB out of fear of a messup. Additionally, GSF is not so good. KISS is the way to go.
  21. Josh, I agree, 10 or 9 of clubs isn't too bad here.
  22. Similar to Phil's concept, but 3S becomes both minors, 3NT becomes both majors, G/F. If I got a solid suit, opener should be thanking us!
  23. Club lead...I'm thinking very passively. This is likely the wrong lead.
