  1. :) im another who always allows undos whether in bidding or in play. if i decide someone is abusing this i simply mark them and dont play with or against them again. i know personally with some laptops with the little finger pads i simply cannot seem to always click at the right time. with a mouse i have no trouble. to me bridge is always a friendly game. when it becomes otherwise i done want to play. i am fortunate that i am able to play in some pretty strong games ultimately it is just a game folks. some of you seem to want to win at any costs. you always think someone is trying to cheat you. it must really be horrible to be like that. im amazed that you enjoy it at all. just my opinion B)
  2. B) same as whereeagles on first 2but ill bid just 1h on the 3rd. i like this type hand and if pard raises i have no reason to show them my second suit. otherwise i will bid it when i can, even at the 5 or 6 level. :P
  3. i never played it that way(with the minor) but i have played with some people the an opening 3c or 3d was a running suit asking pard to take the best action. tom
  4. :) im certainly the antithesis of a bidding expert, but i have played multi for years. the most common multi i see is wk in a major or bal either 20-22 or 23-24. many debates over which strong nt to bid here. i have also played multi with a 3 way meaning(several possibilities here), i liked showing the acol 2major as the 3rd. but alerting is so time consuming with some players that i gave that up. i like to play 2nt as 5/5 plus minors any strength. i think you can actually play that in acbl land but prob not any strength. i have played the 2h, 2s as 5/4 or 5/5 usually 7-11 pts. 5 in the major and 4/5 in either a minor or in other suit if opening 2s. 2nt asks the other suit here. there is a lot in the web written about multi. i usually dont find that the turkish players perse play it much differently than most other europeans, but individuals may. its always wise to ask partner how he usually plays it or simply tell him the way you want to play it. most are thoroughly familiar with it. good luck tom B)
  5. i led the 8 of hearts. turns out its the only lead that beats 6n. i think just luck, but opp had to type in "interesting lead". i get a little upset about comments like that. when i think opps have balanced hands i almost always lead passively. im not going to lead the opening bid suit (clubs). im not going to lead a diamond(ive done this and had it run to the or q in declarers hand . im not going to lead a spade because of the 9 of spades. thanx for the comments all :)
  6. you hold S--9742 H--853 D--K8XX C--JX BIDDING GOES LHO 1C P 6NT(CONSIDERABLE THOUGHT) WHATS YOUR LEAD???? :P
  7. :) i think keylime's post is the best he has ever made. and i dont think his point is that you cant play all those conventions, just that most are not played correctly because people playing them are not really good bridge players. :)
  8. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sa8xxhq109xd9xxcax&w=sxhxxxdkxxxcj9xxx&e=skjxhaxxdaqxxxxcq&s=sq109xxhkjxdck10xxx]399|300|Scoring: XIMP[/hv] bidding east south west north 1D X 2D 3D P 3S p p 4D 4S 5D x p 5S p p x ppp diamond opening lead*************** not sure if ive remembered the bidding exactly but something like this. i was kibbing this game and declarer actually went down a couple. some said he cannot make this, but i think its cold (double dummy anyhow) what do you think?
  9. :P i would bid 4s without the a of diamonds. so ill xx now. im not worried about competing to the 5 level with this hand. if im lucky ill get doubled in 4s which should be a lock(prob 5 is). i dont think slam is there but why am i in a hurry with this hand?
  10. :) I LIKE CAPS. IM OLD ENOUGH THAT ITS NOT SHOUTING TO ME. I SUGGEST EAR PLUGS. I NEGLECTED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE 10 OF DIAMONDS IN DUMMY. PARTNER HAD A SINGLETON K OF DIAMONDS.
  11. B) AT THIS POINT BOTH OF YOU ARE SETTING THE HAND, BUT NOT NECESSARILY FOR THE REASONS STATED. THERES MORE TO IT. TOM :( AND I MANAGED TO OVERANALYSE IT AND LET HIM MAKE IT. CAN YOU SEE WHAT I DID"???
  12. [hv=d=e&v=b&w=sxxhkj10xd10xxcjxxx&s=sq10hxxda9xxxxc9xx]266|200|Scoring: XIMP bidding goes E S W N 1s p 1n 2h 4s ppp[/hv] you are south. you lead 5 of hearts (starting hi lo(standard signals) partner wins the q of hearts. partner then shifts to the k of diamonds. east plays the j of diamond plan the defense which 4 tricks do you hope to win??????????? :)
  13. :P george is 100% right. in a pickup game it simply does not matter what the rules are. it is simple, common and univeral courtesy to explain. if you dont want to explain then dont play. i think it is extraordinary that anyone can either condone or tolerate rudeness just because "that is the rules"
  14. B) amazing how many consider this a weak hand. for the record i opened 1s, rho bid 2d, part bid 2s, lho passed and i bid 4s ppp. making 4 could have been a complete misfit. so what. it would not be the first time. i see this as a pretty powerful hand. when i see openings on 4333 etc with 10 or 11 i am amazed that some would not open this hand. as for the acbl ruling against you for opening this lolllllll what a joke :D
  15. [hv=s=s108xxxxhaqxxxxdkc]133|100|[/hv] JUST CURIOUS. YOU PICK UP THIS HAND IN A TEAM MATCH, FIRST POSITION NV VS NV. DO YOU OPEN? PASS TO COME IN LATER??? DOES BIDDING SYSTEM MATTER ????
  16. :) super story luis. i enjoy playing in europe just because of all the great conventions that i cannot play here in the us. at an acbl tourney you would have the director called every hand. thats why i dont play acbl tourneys. the rules are ridiculous. ;)
  17. ;) i try to always open 1nt with a 5 card maj. i like 3c as puppet. but you do miss some good 2h and 2s partials. and since i play with a lot of different partners i frequently dont have a partner who likes this approach. but i have had pretty decent results with it. tc
  18. ;) my apoligies tim. i had ax of spades and void in hearts. got it mixed up on the post. i had not noticed. i think 3d is a better bid. i bid 3c thinking pard might mistake 3d for stayman. as you can tell i was not really sure.
  19. [hv=d=n&s=sq9xxhakxxdqxckqj]133|100|[/hv] (PARTNERS HAND) I PLAY THAT X OF AN ARTIFICIAL OVERCALL OF 1NT SAYS I CAN X FOR PENALTY AT LEAST ONE OF THEIR SUITS. I ACTUALLY LIKE THE 5N BID AND CONSIDERED THAT. I DO WANT TO BE IN SLAM WITH THIS HAND. I DONT THINK PARTNER SHOULD PASS BUT I DONT GET MAD ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS. I JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAS A TREATMENT TO HANDLE THIS. WITH PARTNERS HAND I WOULD BID 3NT IN A SPLIT SECOND. THEN WHEN HE HEARS ME BID 5D HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING INTELLIGENT. AT LEAST THIS WAS MY REASONING.
  20. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=shaxda109xxxca109xx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] IN A CLOSE TEAM MATCH, PARTNER OPENS 1NT IN FIRST POSITION, RHO OVERCALLS 2D (ALERTED AS CAPP) . WE HAD NOT DISCUSSED LEBENSOHL. I CHOSE TO BID 3C THINKING THIS WAS FORCING. PASS PASS PASS OF COURSE AND 6 IS COLD IN CLUBS AND FAIRLY COLD IN DIAMONDS. WHAT SHOULD I HAVE BID???? ANY THOUGHTS
  21. :) so far only mcphee has suggested 3s over 2c. the whole point of this is that you want to find out if pard has any spades at all. forget 2h you have 8cards and if part has 2 slam is a virtual certainly. 3s would occur to all if you had 6 cards and akqjxx or kqj10xx. over 3 s what do you play as responses from pard, what does 3nt show, 4c, 4s etc how about 4d??? when you bid 3s you expect part to know that your suit can play opposite a void or singleton but you need to know this. on opening certainly this hand qualifies for opening 2c but it makes it harder to find out about the hand. it is prob never going to be passed out cause there are 2 many high cards out in the other hands. and almostly equally if opps compete vigorously in the minors you want to be able to bid 4s or 5s on your own and hope you get doubled.
  22. [hv=s=sakxxxxxxhakxxdcx]133|100|[/hv] all red, you get this hand in first position in a close team match. how do you bid it?? if you open 1s pard bids prob bids 2c if you open 2c pard prob bids 3c give me your reasons for your bids please :P
  23. :D i also mark them as enemy with an appropriate note. you have to do something. i play mostly team games and we take people at their word that they are expert and will stay for the match if possible. if they are not or dont, then i mark them and tell the team organizer not to pick these people if they ask. it does not make me happy to do this, but i think there is no option. :P
  24. :) i love to kib, but mostly i look for the world class players whose names i have seen for years. it would not decrease enjoyment to only be able to kib 1 hand or 1 hand and dummy. in fact, i think i would like to be able to do that. on slowness i think it is hard to say. i am very quick(sometimes too quick) but 1 of my favorite partners is so slow both in bidding and play that it almost drives me to distraction. but i see many world class players who are super slow also. this is not cheating. since i mostly play in team games with a huge variety of partners and opps i dont think i see much cheating. pk
  25. :D i always grant undos. i seem to only misclick when playing in a game where undos are not allowed ( . i tend to watch opponents that may be trying to disclose the location of a card by asking for an undo. if i think thats their purpose i mark them as an enemy and dont play with them again. i hardly ever misclick on bidding but seem to do it in play on occasion( ;) )
