  1. In Norway: 2-3 players. I believe they still play it when partnering each other.
  2. The 1♦,1♥ and 1♠ openings in Roman Club have the same wide range as in 2/1.
  3. If playing Roman Club: Yes If playing Blue Club: No
  4. From an old book* on the Goren system (and the first bridge book I ever read): * Jens Boeck, Moderne BRIDGE (Danish orignal: BRIDGE MED QUIZ).
  5. I'll try to illustrate with the hands from the how do you bid this? thread: [hv=pc=n&s=sqj9haj2dakq652c8&n=sak3h8dt9cakq9754&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=p?]266|200[/hv] With the new -wood and a bit of wishful thinking, maybe: nullve(S)-nullve(N) 1♦(1)-2♣(2) 2♦(3)-2N(4) 3♣(5)-3♦(6) 3♥(7)-3N(8) 4♣(9)-4♥(10) 4♠(11)-4N(12) 5♣(13)-5♦(14) 5♥(15)-5N(16) 7N(17)-P (1) "10+, NAT(ish) unBAL" or "20-22 BAL" (2) "unBAL GF with primary C" (3) relay (4) "16-18, either (3)4+H5+C or 1-suited" (5) relay (6) 1-suited (7) relay with slam interest and willingness to bypass 3N (8) S length "special", not 3226 (9) relay (10) "15-17", 7C3S(21), simultaneously acting as the -wood (11) even # of key cards (but only Opener knows what the trump suit is at this point) (12) trump Q ask (not knowing what the trump suit is) (13) C is trumps, no trump Q (14) grand slam interest (ergo remaining key cards + trump Q), not 3217 (ergo 3127) (15) ♠K ask (16) ♠K, no ♠J (17) contract Added, 17 May (= Norway's birthday! ) 2021:
  6. Thanks. 7. Idea: A kind of (parity) key card investigation tool where * the trump suit is not yet agreed on; * Teller is the one to choose the trump suit. Typical situation where it could be used in my system: * There are two potential trump suits from Asker's perspective * 4♥ asks * The highest (normal) response to 4♥ is 5 of the highest ranking potential trump suit So for example if the potential trump suits are the roundeds, then the (normal) responses are 4♠, 4N, 5♣, 5♦ and 5♥ and the larger structure could be something like 4♠ = even KC ...4N = TQ ask ......5♣ = no TQ(♣) ......5♦ = TQ(♣) ......5♥ = no TQ(♥) ......5♠+ = TQ(♥) ...(...) 4N = odd KC(♣), no TQ(♣) 5♣ = odd KC(♣), TQ(♣) 5♦ = odd KC(♥), no TQ(♥) 5♥ = odd KC(♥), TQ(♥) (...)
  8. Then West was an advanced robot. Can you post the Handviewer link here? I want to replay the hand against basic robots, but then i need to know exactly how the play went at your table.
  9. Possible "Norwegian" 2/1 auction similar to the one mikeh suggested: 1♦(1)-2♣(2) 2♦(3)-4♣(4) 4♦(5)-4N(6) 5♥(7)-5N(8) 7N(11)-P (1) NAT (e.g. 5542-style) (2) NAT, "GF unless rebid" (3) 5+D3-C. Not 4(+) M unless MIN. (4) sets C as trumps (without promising a solid suit in mikeh's sense), slammish (5) cue (6) RKC (9) 2 (or 5) key cards, no trump Q (10) specific king ask, grand slam interest (11) contract
  10. What kind of daylong tournament was this? Zenith Daylong Reward (MP) maybe?
  11. From WBT OCBL Open League - QF 2/2: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|Hcasp,hmg2,HCDK,kinder1|md|4SAJT96HJ873D5C743,S5432HQ4D4CKQJT92,SHAKT65DT9876CA85,SKQ87H92DAKQJ32C6|sv|o|rh||ah|Board%2014|mb|1D!|an|4+%20at%20least%20smei%20unbalanced|mb|1S|mb|P|mb|1N|mb|P|mb|P|mb|2C|mb|D|an|Penalty%20sugg.|mb|2D|mb|P|mb|P|mb|D|mb|P|mb|P|mb|3C|mb|D|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|pc|HA|pc|H2|pc|H8|pc|H4|pc|C5|pc|C6|pc|C7|pc|CK|pc|CJ|pc|CA|pc|S7|pc|C4|pc|H6|pc|H9|pc|HJ|pc|HQ|pc|CQ|pc|C8|pc|S8|pc|C3|pc|CT|pc|DT|pc|D2|mc|11|]450|300[/hv] I haven't played through the video yet to see how the play went at the table. You can either press the 'GIB' button to find out why I posted the deal or you can treat it as a double dummy opening lead problem where the task is to defeat the contract by one trick.
  12. 4♥ could not be taken as a retransfer to spades?
  13. Try the following: 1. Finish the deal in some way. (The easiest way is to pass for the remainder of the auction, pick an opening lead at random and then claim a (possibly absurd) number of tricks.) 2. Make sure the History tag is open and that My Table is selected. The deal you just played will then be visible in the lower right corner of your screen. 3. Select Export, then Upload deal to table, from the deal menu. 4. Start bidding. 5. At any time (you don't even have to finish the auction), select the finished deal you want to replay. (They will of course all be identical except for the bidding and play.) 6. Repeat 3.,4. and 5. ad nauseam. Works for me.
  14. I do this all the time and I'm not a Prime member.
  15. In this thread I suggested taking all INV hands out of the Welland-Auken two-over-one responses (freeing up 2♥ in the process) and use a Zelandakh-style INV+ 1N relay instead. I still think that would be a significant improvement.
  16. That would have worked against basic robots, at least: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|nullve,~~M5175lv7,~~M4109rt6,~~M2285uvh|md|3SK853H874D62CT543,ST42HKT632DK95CJ9,SQJ76H95DQJT3CQ82,SA9HAQJDA874CAK76|sv|e|rh||ah|Board%209|mb|P|mb|2C|an|Strong%20two%20club%20--%2019+%20HCP;%2023+%20total%20points;%20forcing%20to%202N%20|mb|D|an|6+%20HCP;%20rebiddable%20!C;%20!CKQ|mb|2D|an|2D%20bid%20waiting%20--%20forcing%20to%202N%20|mb|P|mb|2N|an|Balanced%20minimum%20--%202-5%20!C;%202-5%20!D;%202-5%20!H;%202-5%20!S;%2022-24%20HCP;%2023+%20total%20points%20|mb|P|mb|3D!|an|Jacoby%20transfer%20--%205+%20!H%20|mb|P|mb|3H|an|Transfer%20completed%20to%20H%20--%202-5%20!C;%202-5%20!D;%202-5%20!H;%202-5%20!S;%2022-24%20HCP;%2023+%20total%20points%20|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|]450|300[/hv] Naybe not so much: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|nullve,~~M5175lv7,~~M4109rt6,~~M2285uvh|md|3SK853H874D62CT543,ST42HKT632DK95CJ9,SQJ76H95DQJT3CQ82,SA9HAQJDA874CAK76|sv|e|rh||ah|Board%209|mb|P|mb|2C|an|Strong%20two%20club%20--%2019+%20HCP;%2023+%20total%20points;%20forcing%20to%202N%20|mb|3D|an|Preempt%20--%207+%20!D;%205-9%20HCP;%20!DQ;%206+%20total%20points|mb|3N|an|5-%20!H;%205-%20!S;%206-13%20HCP;%20likely%20stop%20in%20!D%20|mb|4D|an|2+%20!D;%2011-%20HCP;%2012-%20total%20points%20|mb|D|an|19+%20HCP;%20biddable%20!D;%2023+%20total%20points%20|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|pc|CJ|]450|300[/hv] What I did may look like sabotage, but I was only exploiting the fact that if the bidding goes P-(1any/2♣)-4N then the robots will always* pass: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|nullve,~Mwest,~Mnorth,~Meast|md|3SK853H874D62CT543,ST42HKT632DK95CJ9,SQJ76H95DQJT3CQ82,SA9HAQJDA874CAK76|sv|e|rh||ah|Board%209|mb|P|mb|2C|an|Strong%20two%20club%20--%2019+%20HCP;%2023+%20total%20points;%20forcing%20to%202N|mb|4N|an|%20|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|pc|H3|pc|H5|pc|HA|pc|H4|pc|HQ|pc|H7|pc|H6|pc|H9|pc|CK|pc|C5|pc|CJ|pc|C2|pc|HJ|pc|H8|pc|HK|pc|S6|pc|HT|pc|S7|pc|D8|pc|D2|pc|H2|pc|D3|pc|D4|pc|D6|pc|C9|pc|CQ|pc|CA|pc|C3|pc|C6|pc|C4|pc|D5|pc|C8|pc|SQ|pc|SA|pc|S3|pc|S4|pc|S9|pc|S5|pc|S2|pc|SJ|pc|DQ|pc|DA|pc|S8|pc|D9|pc|D7|pc|CT|pc|DK|pc|DT|pc|ST|pc|DJ|pc|C7|pc|SK|]450|300[/hv] * At least I haven't come across a counter-example.
  17. Then North's raise to only 2♥ makes sense. I think most posters here have assumed 5c majors.
  18. 4♣ is undefined in standard Smolen (isn't it?) and yet you are both sure that this is the only reasonable interpretation? What if someone bid 4♣ (instead of accepting the Smolen transfer with 3♠) on Qxx AJx xx AKJxx in the hope that Responder would become declarer in a spade contract? Would that be irrational?
  19. From yesterday's Pacific Daylong Reward (MP): [hv=pc=n&s=sk853h874d62ct543&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=p2c?]133|200[/hv] Hint:
  20. I think that is what they (used to) play. Here is a detailed CC from 2016: http://www.clairebridge.com/textes/systemes_budapest_2016/GEROT_Auken-Welland.pdf See note 19 about occasionally opening 1M with a balanced hand. I suppose that if they open 1♠ with 11-13/17-19 hcp and 53(32) they will always rebid 2♦("3+ H") over 1♠-2♣. But with 11-13/17-19 hcp and 5233? Pretend to be 5S4+m? Always open 1♣?
  21. Yes, but see Edit of my previous post.
