  1. Having S four Aces N has Kings. Probably the answer is in 5♥(=2keys w/o Q) at RKB but 1 key there is ♠ K the other is by mine variant :2 keys w/o or 1key + void.
  2. That is what has to be wanted : infact this hand is flat it being the other three hands unbalanced (en passant) and its values is 12 points then apt for 4♥ bid (wheras 3♠ is more weak) having fourthemore also an Ace (almost).
  3. The base principle is to describe your hand at best avoiding to hide anything(=shape, HCP or other) to allow max partner cooperation (to escape bidding problems). Why do you choised 3♠ instead 4♥ that seems to me more indicative ? If bidding go high E with its opener in this case is better placed to move to a probable slam (having a second suit yet to discover). Are you agree ?
  4. Interesting and extensive. With that hand N knows about 11 card fit in heart and in this case is able to bid 5♥ showing in this way also 1 loser max in spade suit. The 4♠ bid seems like a Michaels cue that i have not thought.
  5. In this hand there is a second suit that play(=club) and that can be discovered more easy if the bidding is "low" as previously i said (i.e. ...S (2♥) - X - (3♥) - 4♣ by E, (..)) but if so opp can defend more conveniently too.
  6. If W shows support and HCP with 3♥ then after 4♥ by N why not 4NT(=RKB) by E ? The bidding will be (5♥)- pass(=DOPI 1 keyc. ♦A) by W-(pass), X(=?Queen)-(pass)-6♦(=♠Q+♦K) and the losers are covered for slam.
  7. I think that dokoko's 4♥ (double jump interference) was made more viewing at AKJ9432 in heart suit (that although not seems to me much comparable with KQJ10943) trying to be much obstructive (but also for partner). I too, looking at losers, retain that 3♥(=6-7th) can be right.
  8. Hi, may you tell me your bid sequence after p-p-1♠ by E (from here all agree) ? Perhaps can be a way to know about spade Queen.
  9. When E moves to slam initiating a right cue sequence probably is already high (E needs to know if the xx in diamond suit are covered but this one has to do enter five level where you can realize if slam (that is factible also with the second fit in club to discover) there is or not .
  10. In the bidding indicated for this hand W choised to double(=TOX neg.ve instead of 3♥) but why this 2♥ bid by S ? Is not better 3♥ showing longness ? About stiff club K to drop i think that can be it made (if N shows its hand weak).
  11. I need to know the biddings by all players (than also defensive bids how can be obstructive) starting by West (that probably is "pass"),North ? and so on, thanks.

  13. I would like to comment on the point at the end of Robin's Bridge Blog (- see post#20 - "What about this situation?Youhold ♠KT2 ♥2 ♦J93 ♣JT7542"): this type of bidding (the jump answer) is termed "early sacrifice" and we can say that recurs:1) on the contested bidding (enter the first round declarative); 2) in the suit of the opponents your line has maximum one loser. With your jump answer at weak partner's bid show that you have: 3) a poor hand even in defensive values; 4) show with your support response a 10 card fit and a keycard (Ace or King) or 11 cards (or more) fit. The basic principle is to "enter decisively into declarations every time the opposing bid seems destined to evolve until to the slam. In these circumstances, high-level interference disturbs the interview of our antagonists, can lead them to a conclusion that it is not the best, can induce them to double our contract allowing us to sacrifice at a lower level." (Sorry for the previuosly incorrect transaltion well summarized by nullve).
  14. About the "Sacrifice bidding" and for what to do in any different situations i suggest to read this one: http://robinsbridge.blogspot.com/2014/04/to-sacrifice-or-not-to-sacrifice.html
Google is always Google, the terms are "thecnics" and owns of the Bridge (game), than..
  16. "Bridge is a game, fortunately for everyone, based on mathematics and therefore should not be surprising if you can find a way that can lead you to achieve the result more precisely". This that i said has to be read in the meaning that can be (or almost much probably just there are) "things" not yet seen or discovered on hands/cards that can help you and drive in a more right bidding (i think i.e. at LoTT by Vernes or other ones). This one can be a "key" point to be considered.
  17. It was made for a didacted aim. If anyone has a more recent hand (i said that this one seems to be few "spotted") can post it.

  19. Given the situation of vulnerability and the very positive response to the double the bidding will not end at 6 ♣ and Rapee will therefore have to declare 6 ♥ or X giving to Stayman the possibility to speak again.
  20. Because not declaring immediately after 6 ♣ of E 6 ♥ you do not run the risk of being defended at 7 ♣ further ensuring the slam to Hearts by moving the statement on the partner and giving the idea that the contract may even fail (and thus increasing the chances of being able to play it).
  21. [hv=pc=n&s=sakt5hj9753dkqt9c&w=sq98742h62dj74ct2&n=s3hakqt84d632c853&e=sj6hda85cakqj9764&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1cd1s4h5c5hpp6cpp6hppp]399|300[/hv] (Meeting between the team of the United States and Great Britain in the World Championship at Bermuda on 1950). Note the double psychological maneuver of Stayman in S: on the 5 ♣ of the adversaries he says only 5 ♥ (while his goal is 6 ♥) and on the 6 ♣ let the partner to bid 6 ♥so that "the opponents, not distrusting of the distribution, let him play the slam". The events gave him reason. On Stayman's "forcing pass", Rapee declared 6 ♥, on which Louis Tarlo and Gardener passed. At the other table, S's bidding was more brutal and E-W did not let that the contract of 6 ♥ was played: S (Konstam) -W (Crawford) -N (Dodds) -E (Silodor) 1♣ (Silodor) 2♣ pass 3♥ 5♣ 6♥ pass pass 7♣ X pass pass pass
  22. It would therefore be desirable to have more than one official source of information (= books) that can provide a useful guide for a correct use of this type of bidding rather than collecting even objective indications in a "horizon" that would leave this topic at the level of sporadicity.
  23. I believe that Tintner's hand can be easily read: considering also the vulnerability should have in the Club suit a 7th with KJ or a 8th with some honor protected aside. The pass after 4 ♣ perhaps urged the partner to intervene when Boulenger went to slam in Heart showing protection in the other suits. At that point Stetten should have made the decision to bid considering that the partner could have the Queen of Diamond and the void in Hearts and having him the Ace of Spades and a second suit fitting. About the play a Spade was leaded, Boulenger took the second turn to dummy with the King then playing the Queen of Hearts.
  24. In the other room the bidding after 3 ♣ of W and pass of N was 3NT of E doubled by S and realized for a failure to signal the situation of Hearts suit that would have allowed to visualize K10x in E. The comment of Giovanni Ferrando about Stetten he avoided very cleverly to double ... he continued with "Not all the donuts ...". Indeed the suit of diamond helps a lot while the K ♥ was probably to be considered onside.

"Take advantage of Svarc's very aggressive cue-bidding and Stetten's very clever pass that he avoided to double, but the defense at 7 ♣ would still be cheap."
