Hey.. You forgot the mini - roman 4-4-1-4 type 2♦ bid:) Any one works; as long as partner remembers or agrees on what we are playing
-
I reckon 7-8 !h with 2/3 or 3/5 top honors...of course side singletons and voids are a given... Poker face required... :D
-
A 2♥ bid is not ideal suit quality ...but gets my vote in balancing position there..
-
A matter of preference... I would advise you to try other methods ..aces 1st.and..a/k 1st... Give it a wirl...thats what I like about the game  , so many ways to skin a cat...Lot's of stuff to try...

Cue Bidding Second Round Controls
willow23 replied to pbleighton's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
 I go with aces first...you still know when a suit is open ...use nt as a meant of keeping the auction low when possible... I like precision ...my system shows controls...a positive response promises 3+ controls ...so knowing there is a fit and about 10 controls ...using beta ask etc... takes some of the hassle out on most slam auctions... :D -
1) Definitely a pass...you are in a good position to reap the rewards of silence..opps have given a neg dbl...wait to see what LHO bids...you should be happy either way..:) 2) I would definitly think so...of course ...partnership agreement is important...but most play system on...so I recommend leb..if you play sys on...k...Good Luck:)
-
RHO seem to be the aggressor....I lead small ♦ ..think chances are that A♦ is on the right and K♦ should still make..but if p has an honor...we are good to go:)
-
Well ..quite a pickle we have here..:) Would win with the K♦ and finesse the 10♣...chances are ♠ honors are split...and may get ♦ return... All or nothing :)
-
I do not bother alert 1m-2m...but if opps do ask...I just put 6-9 hcp, 3♥/♠ whatever the case may be..or if after overcall..9-10 hcp, 3♥/♠ Small matters :)
-
1NT ..can't afford for opps to find a major fit by passing...if opener's p has 6-7 points...may think twice to bid at the 2 level when vul..:)... And may get a juicy ♦ lead too:)
-
I find it very strange that p did not bid 3♠..unless you play responsive dbls and your failure to dbl denies at least 4/3 in majors...I would trust that p used neg double correctly and his dbl guarantees 4♠/3♥+ and no more than 3♦..which leaves me to wonder about his ♣ holding..anyway ...p can have 4-3-3-3 or a 4-3-4-2...which may explain why he did not bid 3♠..so I will trust p to have 2 or 1/4 top honors with 10,9 in ♦ and pass. Opps may have singletons or probably voids...since their hands seem to be shapely ..from their bidding..so 3NT may be marginally ok.

Is this worth a slaminvite?
willow23 replied to plaur's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Wow...there are many ways to bid this hand... Can go with... 1NT-2♣ ??? - Depending on the response...If partner bids 2♦ then use smolem ..bid 3♠ to let partner know you have 4♠ and 5♥..If partner bids 2♠ then hooray! ask for aces/key cards whatever..:( Can go with .. 1NT-2♦ 2♥-4♦(splinter)...this auction may miss a !s fit...although p mus have a heart fit ..4/4 fits are superior to 5-3, 6-2 when discards are needed:).... Transfer to ♥ and then show ♠ .is invitational..you will cry if p passes 2♠ with a min 15 hcp:)..You need a game forcing auction Depending on your arrangements ..you can also try 4♦..xfer to ♥ and then bid 4♠ but you and p need to agree that this auction is slam-going before hand:) But to answer the short of it...yes ...I think the hand belongs in slam ..especially as a fit must exist in ♥. -
1) Double ... leave it up to p... but look like we are strong enough to punish or bid again 2) J♥.. Hope for the best..:) 3)Double... Should go home with a very good score..
-
Opt for a pass...leave it up to p...if he can't make some noise ..I will be happy with a + score...if he re-opens with a dbl...hmm...I have to go with 4♠ ... Suit quality test fails the hand despite the lovely hcp...very sad to have to pass with that hand..:)
-
I win the A♥ and lead a ♠ back... Gotta get those ♠ out ...opps cannot get to dummy ... P ..should lead a ♥ every time he gets in for the forcing defense...so Nice contract to be in...:)
-
Marty Bergen says it best in his book 'Points schmoints'...The hand works wonders with that ♣ singleton, opposite a nice major fit with p...who has at least 15 hcp:) After opps show strength in !c ...even better...I am likely to get more aggressive...lol <_<
-
<_< I would go with a transfer to ♠ bid... then to invite bid 3♥. Partner should get the idea... If opps bid ♣..I prefer a dbl showing shortness in ♣..Then p can bid 3♦, 3♥, 3♠ or convert to penalty... I opt for leaving the stronger hand with the option... The bidding above...is well filled with good intentions...again ..after that 3♣ bid ..I dbl..leaving partner with the option...without the majors ..if that is what the 2♦ mean...p should be able to punish 3♣ contract. :D I know how opps can intefere in an innocent drop dead auction and leave p to wonder...:)...but 2!c looking for a major and then 2♠.. if 2♦ reply to show 5/4 ..invitational an ok line. B)

With the overtake of q♠ and small back ..I do not expect another ♠..so ...when I get in, play out hearts and take ♣ finesse..let opp finesse the ♦ or ♣ suits for me..:).. Fingers crossed...
-
I would go up with the A♠ pull trumps and depend on the ♣ spot to play the ♣ suit ...10♣ to A!c..and decide if to play for the drop or finesse next time around.. ♥ ruffing finesse is a possibility ...but contract still depends on ♣ play..:P.. Nice marginal grand to be in ... :)
-
Though call ..as every lead seem to help opps... I am sceptical about the A♣ since one opp is showing a 6♥/5♥ hand and may very well be void in ♣ as his p may have a suit..I do not like leading K from Kx ..unless bidding from p ..hints he may have A♦..and I get a ruff by K♦ then small to the A♦... Under the circumstances, although everything points towards the K♦ lead..I would lead the 2♥.. The suits my p may have honor points in are the ♥ and ♦... It would hurt me to loose my K♦...besides they should break somewhat evenly..so i would hope to make later... Here goes nothing 2♥..played...:)
-
Much thanks... Nice rundown on the tourneys..appreciate it Regards

I think a jump in ♣ is necessary(3♣) to show the shape and point range of the hand.. I am curious though..with that hand I would opt for a reverse to show a 17+ hand ..so I would start the bidding with 1♣..then bid 2♦.. That may give me enough room to find out what p holds.. Any takers on this line of bidding...although it may be harder for p to picture actual length in the two suits.. Just a thought..I am a precision fan:)
-
I would expect partner to have 10+ hcp for that invite considering opps interferance..so 24+ hcp ..14 hcp/15 dcp in yours...So I would go for it since I have close enough to the max range that partner expects from the bidding... With 11-13 I would pass 3♥..but with 14+ I would press the gas... For me AQ in partners !c; I may get a discard and get to cross ruff ♦ and ♣.. For some reason...I would expect 2(Kx/Ax) or 1(x)♠ in p's hand ..not 3...Why would he invite without something attractive... All systems are go Scotty  ..I would trust p's judgement...especially as opps just made one peep..Probably just a little interferance...The points are well sandwiched between you and p.. Hey ..you win some, you loose some...You have the points, although distribution of the cards may be cruel..
-
100% forcing...I play redbl as 10+ hcp ..so this would establish the balance of power... In response to the 1♥...I would bid based on the strength og my hand while painting a picture of the hand ..1NT if balanced or a suit if you have one is a winner. Partner has yet to describe his/her hand...That bid should tell the story...
-
The system being played is an issue here..I assume a natural system I would take that bid to mean 5-5 in the majors and game going...It is difficult to imagine slam but it may be possible depending on the hand responder holds.. A double fit would be good news  and worth considering.
