  1. Good Day all, I find the FD CC very useful and think that it can be better. I am not sure if there is a way to action my suggestion but if there is I would like to know. The FD cc should allow for descriptions in competitive bidding: when I open opps bid a particular conventional bid and I have a counter conventional agreement. For example; 1♣(partner) - 2♣(opps- showing majors) - 2♥(partner- limit raise for ♣) Is there a way to enter this situation on the FD CC? If there is let me know and if not I think it will be a great improvement. Keep up the good work...BBO is the best!
  2. Tough call but I would pass; I would expect my p to dbl with as little as 6hcp and 4♠. Since partner did not bid, the hand may some freeky distribution. It is not comforting that p may have 4♥ in hand, opps may have control of the other suits,I have to bear a forcing defense and possibly playing at the 3 level in a minor suit. Opps may pick up a +200. I would pass and let p speak if he can. (pass!)
  3. I would open 1♥ using the rule of 20: add the hcp in the hand and the tength of the two longers suits. Therefore, 9 hcp in the hand and 11 in length equals 20 [6♥+5 ♦= 11 (two longest suits)] Points schmoints..:P Lovely hand :P
  4. Hmmm.. This hand brings out my impulsive side.. :( . Whatever I bid, I want it to be forcing.. so that rules out a 2♥ rebid...so may would go with a mild 2♣ on an off day .. but I prefer a crazy 3♣ or 3♥ rebid... with the silence ..P promises to have values..:)..I want to be in game for sure.
  5. I think that a chat to friends button would be lovely for the software...so the same way you can send a message to everyone in the lobby..one should be able to send one message to everyone marked as a friend. It yould be even better if one can select friends from a drop down list as well...this would sure beat the copy and paste option. I gues some consideration must be given to friends in tournaments..i.e They should not be distrbed and be excluded from those multiple messages. If there is a way to do that ...pls inform me..:( Good luck guys...BBO always amazes me with their improvements...I think this would be a great addition. Thx
  6. Depends on partnership agreement.. I would bid 2♠ there with a pick-up partner...with my p however I would bid 3♣...
  7. Hi all, Our local club has decided to play teams on BBO and review the hands. I have volunteered to do the review but have realised that it is too time consuming. First I used wordperfect but found that it was lacking interactivity. So I tried to use notepad in combination with lin files to create the reviews with the hands, player names and insert my comments at the chat area in the bottom as the actual hands were played trick by trick. It is more effective and the members enjoy it so much more..but sadly enough it takes too much of my time... Is there software that I can install to make the process easier? I think that the reviews help the players improve their bidding and play..and would even like to add intractive quizes...but want to reduce the hours each day spent to do it.. I want to take time to do the analysis, make recommendations and e-mail to everyone when it is ready...so the can just open a lin file offline if the wish and review the hands as they were played and play it again if they need to.. Please tell me I can get software to help me speed up the process...
  8. I would go with a pass... No spade stopper; will dare not bid 3nt and 5♣looks a long way off...P has a wonderful dummy... Shape is the key here; and I have none to offer partner B) If he has 7♣..7+2=9 ..I would stick with the law here.. My p may have already counted me for some points when he made that 3♣ bid.. Something does smell fishy though...but I would procede with caution..
  9. I think that 3♥ hearts is very encouraging...Partner is inviting to game if maxed hand...11 hcp opposite p's fit = limit raise..which more often than not belongs in game.. B) Not a time to get cold feet...Go for it!
  10. No stayman with the dreaded 4-3-3-3 for me.. Usually both hands are flat; Even worse..mirror hands; hard when it comes to ruffing and ditching loosers... Did i say hard, try impossible B)
  11. I would go with 3♥; We are NV my p's dbl should guarantee at least 4 in the suit.. Since I am holding 2/4 top honors..I suspect my p may have 5♥ but his suit quality is not good enough to overcall 3♥.. Looks like 4♥ contract is possible..but ultimately up to partner.. B)
  12. I would double.. If I were opps, I would raise according to the law to make life difficult for opps who are afraid of being vul... So p probably has just as good a hand as you but probably was not short enough in hearts for a take-out double. I would not go without a fight there, expecially as I am vul...Game may be a dbl away :)
  13. :) If I was not myself and bidded that ..it would be some type of splinter.. If playing bergen raises ..it may have to be preemptive since 3♣ would be a limit/mixed raise of some sort.. If no bergen 3♣ should be pre-emptive and 4♣ a splinter. Of course, it goes without saying, some agreement must be made ;)
  14. I take it as a forcing bid with a !d suit. I am more interested in which major you have... Based on the auction, I am leaning towards ♥ since i would expect one to dbl ♠ for penalty or bid NT to show stoppers..so I figure you are looking at 4♥ but giving p the option of NT game..
  15. If I understand the bidding correctly RHO promised a stopper...so I would lead 4th best club and wait for partner to get in and lead a heart ... I would have to keep my fingers crossed on this one
  16. With 11-12 hcp hands that are flat and/or do not contain at least one 4 card major, I opt not to open...strictly a judgment call..I depend on third seat to shout if there is anything to say.. Besides nothing wrong to lie in wait for the overbidders who take silence at the bridge table as a reason to bid on..
  17. I class those bidding questions as issues...(No definite answer  ) The idea is to try out various methods and choose what works for the partnership/system etc. I for one support bids which give you the most information and keeps the bidding the lowest... When I play with new partners and the bidding goes 1♣/1♦1♥ - 1NTand partner tables his hand and has a 4 card major I get dissapointed, especially when there is a major fit. Everone has their own style/ preference...but I figure there is much pleasure in discussion and debate...so enjoy.. Nothing better that an interlectual or stimulating tug of war
  18. With pick-up partners...I always warn them that I may open light in 3rd and use rule of 15 in 4th..which can be light as well....Hope you issued a warning:) I agree with your 1♥ bid as 1 do not make it a practice to pre-empt with a side 4 card major.. I will not pull partner out..I will trust his judgement...p should have good shape and hopefully 1+ tricks in !d and 9-12 hcp, so i would tough it out...:P
  19. I dbl there .. If p has defensive values he passes ..if not he bids on... There..p's dbl may be responsive ...saying that he has ♥ and ♦ Well...all up to agreement.. Glad I am not in the hot seat on that one :)
  20. I make it a practice to ALWAYS redouble with 10+ hcp ...if opps continue to persist ...my p knows the minimum strength of our hands and can choose to double opps for penalty...:)
  21. I think that the auction is slam going .. I cue aces first..so I would bid 5♠ and let p take it from there...the hand with the ♣ void is concealed ..which should work out ok..:).. If p bids 5NT then I bid 6!d.... Interesting auction though:)
  22. Either/or ..Judgement is an improtant aspect of the game that one cannot escape..so open whatever feels right at the time.. You should take a poll to see which is most popular..:) I would open 1nt on equal vulnerability...favuorable vulnerability I open 1nt..:) Unfavourable vulnerability I open 1♣ But any opening is ok :)...
  23. I worked on a precision convention for full disclosure and it is quite a bit of work..:) So I figure i will ask around for a full disclosure 2/1 system and make the changes to suit my style..:)... If anyone wants a precision full disclosure by Berkowitz and Manley i am willing to e-mail it to them..:) Likewise if anyone out there has a 2/1 full disclosure ...even an acol full disclosure system ..I would like you to e-mail it to me please... My e-mail address is wipinwillow@yahoo.com Not only is it good when you are playing ..it is a good tool to browse through a system as well... Full disclosure is great... :)
  24. I think it necessary to ask again if unsure of the explaination...but the explaination is far better than some that I have seen.. 2!c(Precision) ...end of story...lol Not a problem for me since I love to learn new systems and conv. and try to have a working knowledge of them.. But wise to ask to you hearts content ..so that you can reserve you rights on the hand ... Be sure to call the director if not satisfied so a record of the encounter can warrent an adjustment... Too often directors are called after the fact:)..
  25. Full disclosure all the way...Great idea!..Hats off to BBO ..They keep amazing me with the ideas and tweeks... BBO is #1...Cheers
