  1. Playing SAYC while GIB is playing 2/1 should lead to some confusing auctions.
  2. I might give up making takeout doubles over BOT's preempts. More than once I have ended up in a weak 43 club fit at the 5 level because my BOT decided to respond with a 4 card club suit rather that a nice 5 card heart. Maybe this could be fixed. The BOTs should be instructed to favor the major suits just as we instruct beginners.
  3. The double-click problem would go away with the addition of an OK button.
  4. The confirm bids option is very useful. It has saved me on several occasions because you have to select the OK button to proceed. I would like see the confirm cards option also require that the OK button be selected to proceed. It is all too easy to get into a routine of double-clicking with the current method.
  5. My link I usually open 1NT with a balanced 16 count and 5 Spades. On this hand, most of the field opened 1S and ended up defending the BOTs in their 2-2 Spade fit. So my 1NT down 3 did not get a very good score. This hand was played in 2S-3 by West 11 times.

The explanation said that the 4C bid denied a major suit ace. Thinking that slam might be a bad idea with two aces missing and the opening leader aware of the fact, I chose not to bid slam. Silly me. I suggest that the explanation be revised. I understand that the explanations are sometimes not completely accurate (but close enough), but this one is too egregious (not even close). Only four bidders on this hand used this exact sequence. Three stayed out of slam. One (maybe did not read the explanation) bid it anyway.
  7. 3D is not forcing over the limit JS, so there is no way to explore on this hand. Two people who played this hand did bid 3D and GIB show preference to spades rather than showing the heart stopper. 5 clubs looks like an easy make, 6 if GIB has an ace. Blackwood solves this. Be glad GIB does not play 1430.
  8. Thanks for the insight. I should have thought about the possibility of a NT game. A simple q of 3D would have landed me in an unbeatable 3nt for all the IMPS. Most of the others who played this hand were fixated on clubs, as was I. No declarer scored a game on this hand. You have reminded me to pause and think of all the possibilities.
  9. My link This has happened to me several times when playing instant tournaments with bots: I want to play 5 clubs. If I bid 4 clubs I will be left there. If I bid 5 clubs, the bot will raise to 6. Luckily, this usually only results in minus 1 or two IMPs because others have suffered the same fate. How do I get to play 5 clubs on a hand like this?
  10. What does ATB stand for? I've searched the web and found no definition that relates to bridge.
  11. Of course!! Thank you for waking me up. I have played that treatment for many years. For some reason, I did not recognize it the current context.
  12. http://tinyurl.com/y5y9pkba Strange double by GIB.
  13. Using the new version V3: Microsoft Edge: The "other tables" button does not work when kibitzing Internet Explorer: Program will not load. Firefox: Everything seems to work ok Chrome: No problems Windows 10, Dell XPS 8910 4ghz
  14. When I login to kibitz I see a slightly list of interesting tables that differs from the list I see when I kibitz anonymously. Can some one explain why?
  15. Perhaps I am to cautious, but I don't see this as "pre-balancing". LHO's hand has not been limited, so you have no reason to believe that partner has any useful cards. You could be walking into a huge minus score.
  16. Excellent point. In GIB's seat I would surely have raised to game, trusting partner to have a strong 6 bagger. GIB was just being a good partner, regardless of the description of the bid
  17. My link The note for GIB's 3S cue bid said "3+ Hearts,12+ HCP, 13+ Points; forcing GIB had the points but was short a couple of hearts. 5 Hearts made, but that's not the point.
  18. So you justify rebidding a bare minimum opener by calling it "balancing". Your partner could have had a lot less than he showed. In any event, even without the raise to 4, you have swapped a plus for a minus because two diamonds must fail with accurate defense. Of course, if you defend at the same level as your bidding, two diamonds will probably make.
  19. http://tinyurl.com/yxpws723 12 out of 13 times the auction ended at 3D. Only once did GIB compete to 3S, against which there was no defense. That, of course, was against me. I got 7.%. So why did GIB decide to compete against me and nobody else?
  20. http://tinyurl.com/y28he9ey Every player except me got a 2H response from GIB. I got a 3H response. Expecting a hand with 7 hearts and out, I simply raised to 4. Most of the players that got the 2H response ended up in slam. I would have also. So why did GIB select me as the only one to get the 3H response?
  21. Since the heart queen is probably toast, for the north hand to bid again falls into the category of "bidding the same values twice". If you believe in bidding to the size of your trump fit (7), the one level is max - especially vul where -200 is not usually a good score.
  22. Your initial pass did not limit your hand, it only showed a willingness to declare 1Nx. Your 2S bid showed a 6 card suit with extras. Any decent partner would raise you with the GIB's cards on this hand. As you see, even 3S is a disaster.
  23. This is not "balancing" -- This is bidding the same values twice. Sometimes it works - more often it doesn't. I would not like to play with a partner who makes a habit of it.
  24. I have not been able to find a detailed description of the appeal. Just one site said you should read the appeal record. But it did not offer a link to where to find it.
  25. I have 5.1.0 running in Microsoft Edge. When kibitzing I can see the table of results but, when I click on "Other Tables", nothing happens. I get the same result in Internet explorer. I ran it in Google Chrome and the button worked ok. I have not tried any other browsers. This needs to be repaired.
