Bid again after overcall
PhilG007 replied to dkham's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
An obvious PASS Partner's silence is deafening, you've said your piece...it's time to go quietly and hope to put them down.... -
In some BBO tourneys pysches and undo's are allowed. The TD will announce this at the start of play... Misclicks must be announced as soon as made telling opponents privately and summoning the TD The opponents have the option of calling the TD once a misclick has been revealed I discovered a way to deal with misclicks. At the start of each board there is a button at the top of the screen called 'options' Clicking on this brings up another window called 'more options' Clicking on this will reveal another window. Amongst other options offered, there is a button showing (confirm bid/card) Selecting this will the effect of asking if the bid selected is intentional. Click on the 'OK' button to save the bid if correct.

Yes I did realize.. So experts don't form casual partnerships...right(?!) <_<

I don't recommend using cue bids in a casual partnership. I prefer to play the K.I.S.S. system (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Anyone taking action on the above hand is really tempting fate. It's definitely a case of "fools rush in " :( -
Bid 2♠ then rebid 4♣ Partner will then know you have major/minor 2 suiter. No Trumps is out of the question with such an unbalanced hand....
-
Yes...or the 'Unlucky Expert' who runs into a diabolical trump break or 'Futile Willie' trying a quixotic attempt on the impossible(!) :)
-
Even with 13 cards and 11 points(adding the J♠) I would still pass this hand....there is no stuffing..just bare bones(!) :(

Kinda difficult with 'silent' bidding (!) -

I would agree the earlier the better. I found the most suitable game for teaching children trick taking games is KNOCKOUT WHIST where the number of cards each player receives is reduced by one card each deal. The player who fails to win at least one trick is eliminated round by round. GERMAN WHIST is another good curtain raiser.... -

The hairs on the back of my neck tell me to PASS A takeout double would be misleading as you cannot tolerate ♥ Sometimes you have to accept you will be gazumped but it's all in the game. Had the pre-empt been in third seat instead of the dealer,I might have chanced my arm but with LHO not having yet bid,it's far too risky to take any action..... -
Most certainly it has to be 2♠ East denied a 4 card [spades suit with his 1NT response and both opps have shown to be limited. Part scores must be contested
-
Bridge is not a game of "always get to the best making contract" Sorry, but I have to disagree I assume you have played MP Pairs(?) Missing a slam when it's biddable is a disaster. The same applies to game contracts and part scores. Going 1 down in 3♠ non vul when the opps have a vul cold 4♥ is a total victory. Bidding a slam when only a game is possible is also terrible. You have to bear in mind that,in duplicate, your real opponents are not sitting at your table but those sitting in the same direction as you... The winners of MP tournaments are those who have achieved the best score possible on every board....

I feel sorry for your money (!) <_< Finally you recognise me as a 'good player' At last you have comes to your senses(!)

I,personally, think it's ridiculous to have all these gadgets. I look on overloaded convention cards with sympathy All this mental baggage weighing them down. While I keep my brain free for the more important tasks of attack and defense (!) ;) -
I see you are looking to learn and improve....how about starting with your manners and attitude(?) <_<
-
Open 2NT???? With 28 hcp???? You cannot be serious man(!)
-
I was dealer vulnerable against not MPs And,as I already pointed out to another poster,it was silent bidding... <_<
-
That would have been very difficult to do....it was silent bidding(!) ;)
-
I remember long ago I was dealt this welcome stranger:- ♠AKxx ♥AKx ♦ AKx ♣ AKx I opened 2♣ received the (expected) negative reply of 2♦ I then jumped to 3NT which was passed out. A small ♥ was led and dummy went down showing a 'bust' Try as I might, all I could make was 8 tricks (the four AKs) This hand taught me a valuable lesson which has stayed with me for 25 years. Points aren't the be all and end all. Aces and Kings are the caviar of the hand...but who can live on caviar alone(?!)

When a game/pastime starts to become more shadow than substance,it rapidly loses its appeal.. :( -
Yes I have done.....and got excellent results as oppposed to those who took the gung ho approach. Why should I adjust? If it ain't broken, don't fix it.. <_<

"Attention freak troll"??? And what, pray, are YOU??!! One day,I'll rub you up the right way (!) :P
