I might be late in replying.. but anyway.. here is my sol: Cash Q of S , Ace of S. (assume no one shows out on QS , see below if there is) (A) If all follows, East has 2 to 4 H (Concede H) (:) If West shows up with 1 S, cash SK, ace D concede a D, squeeze West in reds © If East have 1 S, cash Q H ace H. (i) If both follows H break (concede H) (ii) If West has 0 or 1 H, concede a H immediately, East has 1507 (win rounded suit return, cash club ace if needed, S enter dummy and squeeze West in S +D) (iii) If East has 0 or 1 H, count total no. of majors East has: if 2 then D break. if 1 or less, Ace D concede a D, win minor return and squeeze West in Majors. If West shows out on S Q, concede a small S, squeeze West in reds If East shows out on S Q, cash Q and ace of H, (i) If East shows out again, cash Ace D concede D, win minor return, squeeze West in majors (ii) If West shows out, concede H immediately, take minor return, go to S ace cash H K, come back with other minor ace and cash out.. squeeze West in D and S. Phew.. sorry if I got anything wrong!!

Okie.. here is the full hand: [hv=n=sxxxhxxdkjtxxxxca&w=skxxhktxxdqck8xxx&e=sqtxhqxxdaxxcjtxx&s=saj9xhaj9xdxxcq9x]399|300|[/hv] At the table, I chose a small H lead after some thought... regretted it once dummy came down :D In the postmortem, there were comments for an 'obvious' club lead.. judging from this poll.. i think they are right, club lead should stand out.. hehe

Hi all, According to the book, the reccommended play was to duck a H on trick 4 (after unblocking QJ S) to ensure you make whenever H are 4-2. On the actual layout the opp with long H had 5 S. My initial line was the same as david c's and Jlall's . Incidentally, this was also the one adopted by the 'student' and labelled as a mistake. I wasn't too sure if that play is really superior.. maybe someone can calculate the exact percentage ;) Thanks, Jinzhou

Hi all, I read about the following problem but I have some doubts about the suggested solution.. so maybe someone can work out the exact percentages... Here's the problem : [hv=w=sak53hq6d7642cj73&e=sqjhak743daqtcakq]266|100|Scoring: IMP South leads club T against 6NT[/hv] Thanks all in advance, Jinzhou

Sorry, LHO overcalls... so bidding is 1S (2H) Pass (Pass) ? Thanks a lot
-
[hv=v=b&s=saj652hakjdaj2ct2]133|100|[/hv] Imps, You open 1S, LHO overcalls 2H, pass pass to you. Your bid? Is it a clear choice? We are playing Forcing Freebids over the 2H , just in case

I think Echognome missed something. If you think D finesse is onside, just ruff the S draw trumps (coming back with J Club for fourth round if needed) then take the D finesse and cash your clubs. So this line is about 50%. Flytoox's line looked better on the bidding as I do not expect to find 2S opener with AK S and K D. However, playing for Trump 10 to be onside require a 3-2 trump break. Or if trumps are 4-1 (4 with North), you need D K to be onside and club 3 card with North then you should be able to execute a trump coup. So, all in all , I think I will adopt Flytoox's line. Are there even better lines? Thanks all, Jinzhou

HeartA's comment prompted a thought: I think it is better to discard a D on the 10 of H instead of a S. So when the Spade Q appear you can lead a small S to the K and claim as long as RHO does not have the Spade Ace. This will help to prevent LHO from discarding deceptively from AQx S and K D.

North: 976 K93 42 AKQJT South: KQJ5432 AQ82 - 92 Teams, NS Vul. Bidding goes: South West North East 1S Pass 2C 2D 2S 4D 4S 5D Pass Pass X Pass 5S Pass Pass Pass Who should have done better? In particular what would South's bids mean? Pass then 5H? 5H direct?

Hi all, I have been having problems logging onto BBO at around 10am to 2 pm EST for the past few days... However things are fine when I try at 9 pm EST or so.. Is there known problems are is it just me? As far as I know.. a yellow told me many are having problems... but no official announcement have been made. More specifically.. it takes around 30 mins to load player list and table list.. thereafter when i'm 'in' bbo, everything is laggy and if I try to access a table. the screen will hang at 'waiting for response from server' .. There are no such problems when I try at 10 pm EST.. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for help

Thanks all for replies... Here is the actual hand although it doesn't prove anything... [hv=n=sjhk9874dqt764c73&w=skt98752hj2dakct8&e=s43hqt6dj9532ckj9&s=saq6ha53d8caq6542]399|300|[/hv] 3NT, 4H gd chance. so +200 against 2S isn't too satisfactory  Anyway, I'm convinced Pass is right in the long run. Thanks all!
