  1. Question do you play NMF in this seq? 1C P 1S P 2C P Is 2D here nmf?
  2. Playing sayc all vul West North East south pass pass pass 1S pass 2H pass 3D pass 3H pass 4D pass 4S pass ? Holding ♠AKQ93 ♥ ♦AK865 ♣KJ3 What is your next bid? Will you bid like the south in the above seq so far? Holding south ♠5 ♥AJ8542 ♦3 ♣A10964 Will you bid like south in the above seq? Is there any seq to reach 6C?
  3. The director thinks it is a maxim overcall dbl or a optional dbl(both dbl didnt appear on my cc, heck i dont even know whats a maxim overcall dbl),but not a pen dbl. And obviously the dbl is not t/o for obvious reason My partner never announced the dbl, however the opp did ask at that time before he bid(playing wih screens) and my partner explained as pen. the opp on my side also ask and got the same explaination
  4. Actually i seldom post director decision against me. But this decision i feel is the most bizzare that happened to me. The fact that it occurs in an regional tourney (PABF), actually make me very sad about the standard of bridge directing there. Me actually playing dbls meaning what it actually means and my opps playing dbls meaning other things and i am directorised. The director even minus my team VPs for convention disruption, what ever that means. Any way i did appeal and got the score adjusted to 2Sx-2 but still i feel it should be down 5.............. Any way the reason why my p never dbl with his 9 count and 5 spades is that i may overcall with maybe 6-8 pts and they may even have game. My partner hand ♠KJ10xx ♥Kxx ♦Qx ♣xxx Any way my convention card never state we played pen dbls after this seq which could be my fault, however when i dbled my opp on the same side asked and i wrote that it is a pen dbl, my partner on the other side also wrote pen when asked , which could prove that we didnt have any misinfo
  5. What actually is penalty dbl? Actually i ask this question cos i was directorised for making a pen dbl. The directer ruled that my hand is unsuitable for making a pen dbl and hence ruled against me. The bidding all non vul south east north west 1C 1H X* 2H*** X** P 2S P P X all pass X* promise 4 card spades X** show 3 card spade support 2H*** 8-10 pts I was east and was holding an opening hand with singleton spade. I made a dbl here intending it to be penalty. Both me and my partner explained it as pen(we played all dbls after support as pen, playing with screens). The declarer placed me with long spades and misplayed the hand going 2Sx-5. However the director ruled that in this seq, a dbl is never penalty, adjusting the score to 2Sx-1. My question is if by agreement we agree to play pen dbls, can i make a pen dbl with any hand i want? and isit against the laws of contract bridge to play pen dbls at 2 level(should my hand be taken into consideration)? My hand was ♠Q♥AQxxx♦xxx♣A10xx
  6. It really depends on what you play 2nt as here.If you play it as natural(alot of people i know never play any 2nt bid as nat). North hand dont seem enough to go 3. spade looks like slow tricks. the dbl is also questionable, what is 3C anyway?. Just my 2 cents. I am not really expert or advanced so my answer can be totally off. I just feeling posty today
  7. I just "found" a wbf cce that works on win xp for me http://www.giovannibobbio.it/bridge/dws/zip/lee_cce.zip This editor got many formats to chose from from acbl to wbf std cc
  8. I also have problem filling in the cc it is becuase the program is not compatible with win xp, however there is a way to fill it, go to ecatsbridge and download the cc in word format, or acrobat and fill it in using ms word. It will be hard work but it is at least it wouldnt look encryted
  9. The thing about banning psyches takes the fun out of bridsge not because you psyche but because you would not suspect your opps of psyching when you have a good hand. Fore example if you hold ♠KQJxxxx ♥AQ ♦KJxx ♣A and your opps open 1♠ in 3rd sit, if you banned psyches, it would mean he will have a real spade opening, and you will not be drawned to do anything drastic, However if psyches is allowed, you could be drawned to do something brillant/stupid depending on whether the opps actually psyches, which adds to the unpredictabilty of the bidding
  10. removing psyching takes the fun and out of bidding!, unless the tourney director state explictly that psyches are banned, it should be allowed under the laws of the game.
  11. After i tried to log in to BBO, the waiting for response from server screen appear and it will take like >5 mins b4 allowing me to log in. This only happened this week and have not made any major changes to my comp recently except for upgrading to 3.7.8.It happened when i was using 3.7.7 Any ideas? My firewall seem not to be the cause of the prob i disabled it and still have the same problem. I tried to tracert to bbo.bridgebase.com and here is the result tracert bbo.bridgebase.com Tracing route to bbo.bridgebase.com [69.56.183.98] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 19 ms 14 ms 13 ms ge-0-2-0_0.greenspot.singnet.com.sg [202.166.127 .82] 4 13 ms 16 ms 14 ms ge-0-1-0_9.kickapoo.singnet.com.sg [202.166.127. 66] 5 15 ms 11 ms 14 ms 203.208.145.125 6 187 ms 186 ms 187 ms p5-3.plapx-cr1.ix.singtel.com [203.208.172.2] 7 184 ms 186 ms 186 ms 203.208.168.134 8 188 ms 187 ms 187 ms so4-1-0-622M.ar2.pao2.gblx.net [208.50.13.165] 9 246 ms 246 ms 246 ms so1-0-0-2488m.ar1.dal2.gblx.net [67.17.73.34] 10 247 ms 247 ms 254 ms The-Planet.ge-0-2-1.ar1.DAL2.gblx.net [64.213.17 6.150] 11 251 ms 250 ms 249 ms car2-2-v1.dllstx2.theplanet.com [12.96.160.14] 12 232 ms 231 ms 231 ms 98.69-56-183.reverse.theplanet.com [69.56.183.98 ] Trace complete. 12. the actual hand [hv=n=sk3hakqd10853c6432&w=s109872h986da2cq97&e=sj6hj10743dkj9cj105&s=saq54h52dq764cak8]399|300|[/hv] ya sorry for the typo the defender followed with the 6 heart not the 5. On the play, the declarer after winning the heart played small dia to the Q losing to the ace. The defense return a heart.declarer tried another dia out losing to the jack. and defense return another heart. Declarer then tried another dia losing to the king and the defense cashed 2 more hearts to down the contract. I was wondering whether there is a better line of play?
  13. [hv=n=saq54h52dq764cak8&s=sk3hakqd10853c6432]133|200|[/hv] South deals and bid 1D ,north respond 1S and south bided 1nt , north jumped to 3nt. lead 4 heart to the 2,5 and Q. how do you play this hand? basically 2 ways i think play club 33 or hope to establish a 4th dia. Which is better?
  14. I know many played 1minor P 2major as weak jump shifts. How about 1minor P 3major? Do you play as a weak JS showing more cards of the major or as a splinter bid for the minor opening or any other methods like showing 3 of the major but strong? thx
  15. Actually i read somewhere whether does we take the 4 card clubs into consideration is according to the method of discovery....if you discover the club break yourself,It will be better to finese the person with less clubs, however if the defender tells you so,it will not affect the initial odds. I dont know why just quoting the author,Phil Martins from this book For experts only. The table of contents can be seen here http://www.ny-bridge.com/bt/expert.html
  16. Just interested cos i psyche and got a bad board lol, playing sayc All vul you are south [hv=v=b&s=sj64hq652dj10742c9]133|100|[/hv] south___west _north__east pass____1C____1D____x i chosed to bid 1S since i believed that i could run to diamonds south___west _north__east pass____1C____1D____x 1S______P_____1NT___x 2D______P_____p_____3S P_______3NT___X_____4S P_______P_____X_____P P______P In the end they really have a spade fit and my partner did not smell a rat and happily dbled trusting me :). Maybe because i am playing an indivdual tourney After the board east siad it is a bad bid ;) perhaps to rub salt into wound lol. He also got offended when i point out that he should perhaps bid 1S instead of dbl. B) The 4 hands [hv=n=s8ha1093dak863cqj8&w=sk932hj8dqca107632&e=saq1075hk74d95ck54&s=sj64hq652dj10742c9]399|300|[/hv] Another question should I run from 4S dbled to 5D? My ops say it is illegal to psyche in Italy, is it true?
  17. Copied from sayc ok bridge style I think most play this way. If responder jumps to 2NT over a 1♥/1♠ opener, it is J2NT asking opener to show a singleton or void. It shows 13+Points, good support for opener's suit and is game forcing. Opener rebids as follows: 1♥/2NT! 3♥! max hand, 18+Points and strong suit but denies short suit 3♣/3♦/3♠! singleton or void in bid suit 3NT medium hand, 15-17 Points, denies short suit (artificial) 4♥ minimum hand and denies short suit 4♣/4♦/4♠! strong 5-card side suit Either signoff in gameor lookfor slam
  18. try discarding a spade on the 3rd club and ruffing away the spade loser? win with the king draw a round of trumps play AQ club spade to Ace king club discarding a spade spade ruff and draw trumps and lose one dia in the end?
  19. A bit confused so you bid 3C when you does not accept C and 3D if he accepts C but not D or the other way round?
  20. so how does the K&R system works like? :D how different isit from the A=4 pt counting
  21. Just a quick question with 10+ ponits do you bid the major or clubs?
  22. I am arguing with one of my friends on whether you should see slam with this hand as south [hv=s=sakjxhaxxdkxxcxxx]133|100|[/hv] Bidding goes N ___ S 1D __1S 2C Here my friend sugguest I bid 3nt to show bith major stopped and more of the to play type and if my p is really interested he can go slam him self i However bidded differently N________ S 1D_______ 1S 2C ______ 2H(4SGF) 3D(6 card) _4D(rkcb in diamonds) 4NT(2w/o) _6D As i have both major stopped and accounts for all my p major losers i decided to go to slam hoping :D that trumps break 22 and he can somehow avoid 2 club losers [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sqhq2da87654caj103&w=s9543h10543dqck972&e=s10872hkj96dj109cq4&s=sakj6ha87dk32c865]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] As it happens the first defender underlead king heart giving my p his 12th trick. Other wise given our skill level i doubt It would be made although it looks cold double dummy :) But the main question is should you go for slam after partner shows you a 6-4 hand with opening points? after all we maybe just 27 points and could down quite alot when 3nt is cold.
