First the bidding to aid the declarer play south deals all nonvul Pass-Pass--2H(1)-2S Pass-3D(2)-Pass-3H(3) Pass-4D----Pass--5D X all pass (1) hearts and minor (2) suit (3)show heart stopper/denie club stopper [hv=n=sk97hj10754dckq1083&w=sq4h8dak109654c754&e=saj632hakq9dq7c96&s=s1085h632dj832caj2]399|300|[/hv] K of club lead follwed by small to ace club followed by 3rd club ruffed in dummy. First thing if diamond breaks the contract is trival. so diamonds should break badly. Would you take the trump reduction line and go down if trumps break well? Would you do it if the contract is not dbled? Also if west preempted 3D and east responded 3S, should west bid 3nt or 4D? Note: the trump reduction line wont work if west is a alert and presumly worldclass defender who of cos will insert the king spade when a small spade is lead to dummy without thought :) .

Ya, there is not enough space in the other section, so much so that i see people listing the conventions they play over their name and email. Actually i find the email function quite redundant B)....unless you want to recieve unsolicited spam.

Bidding, NS vul playing imps pairs [hv=s=sa9863hk62d10865c2]133|100| [/hv] E S W N 1♣ 1♠ 2♥ 2♠ X P 3♥ P 3N P 4♣ P 4♦ P 4♥ X 4N P P X all pass Sitting south, whats your lead?
-
This is a twist however, these are not actually the 4 hands! well the south and west hand are the same but the north and east hand are what i hoped to be :) actual east holds ♠AJ1032 ♥108 ♦Q10965♣5 and north holds ♠9 ♥K9♦A432♣1087643 so the bidding procced 4♥ P P 4♠ P P X all pass after which my p comment about that if i bid 4NT he would have bidded 5♣ and i should run after the dbl into 5♣! My reply? : I never run holding a straight flush in spades! and 4S only went down 3. With 4H going down 1 at the other table we lost 14 imps.

bring down the displayed skill lvl by one or 2 notches for about 90% of the bbo players and it should be fairly accurate. As i said b4 there need to be a prominent display of how the self rating meant rather than being inside an obscure document called "rules of this site" that i think 99.5% of players in bbo never bothered to read

what do you consider a psyche?

Negative Double Poll
AceOfHeart replied to paulhar's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
i have to say this, it depends also if you play free bids as forcing or nonforcing. -
I like playing indi alot. But there are some experts/advanced that are total a**. Worse than most intermediate/beginners. So dont worry about weak players ,worry about weak players disgused as strong ones some crimes i seen done by them to me 1) Not supporting partner. Even with 5 card trump support. They chose to bid 3nt. 2) Bidding NT 3) pushing the blame to you when it is clearly their mistake 4)insulting you when it is not your fault/when you go down in only makable double dummy contracts 5)bidding 1S after 1m 1H with 4 cards instead of negative dbls when he wrote neg dbl in his profile 6) all attempts to hog. They think by paying the 1 buck entry fee they earn their right to declare half the boards.

acol? IMHO, I personally play 2/1 and sayc only. However as Sun tze once said:" If you know your enemies well and know your self well, you will win 100 battles" So knowing what each bid oppenents made mean deeply will aid in both declarer play and defence later. Sometimes i feel that explainations given may not be enough and "hidden" meanings may be omited due to lack of time/space.
-
It is a true hand played. God knows why the opps transfered to spades. when asked he said he thinks west is psyching so he transfered to spades. Which i hold my opinion on that about their partnership ethics  anyway what should north bid to expose the psyche by west?
-
Honestly , i feel like upgrading my skill level to advanced/expert due to the sudden influx of advanced/expert players that play like 6 year olds. Then i realised i am not in the same league as them  Honestly, i feel that the rules of self ranking should be made more clear . currently it recides in a small document in bbo that i have trouble finding in like half an hour. I would bet 90% of the self proclaimed advanced/experts have no knowledge of that file too. Somehow the intermediate says : " comparable in skill to most members of bbo" but i think the number of intermediates is the lowest %.

i open 1nt with 5cM and 5332 regardless of what my p plays

Do you think south should explore further?

5♦ looks safe if p have x AQxxx xxxxx A(K)x good chance for 5♦ to make. 4S will go down 3 if everything breaks and placed perfectly thou. If everything breaks badly 4♠ may even make.

How to play this 6 NT.
AceOfHeart replied to Helmer's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
although i cant see why the finesse is funny, but as you play small to 10 clubs you have 12 tricks. Also you need to spell check your post <_< Also not much people I knew lead 4th best in a small slam, esp from Jxxx :) -
The Most Puzzling Situations in Bridge Play by Terence Reese 1979 It is an interesting book on how to play cards properly, not of those triple squeezes but simple card play that will maximise your chance to make a contract like tackling side suits properly, combining chances for finesse, how to aviod ruffs etc. I can solve only about 20% of the hand in the first read but i am only intermediate. A sample hand from this book is this:may or may not agree on bidding but it is bidding 27 years ago :) [hv=d=s&v=b&n=sj96h7542daq10cq53&s=sq4haqj93dk84ca107]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding goes 1NT(1) by south, 2NT(2) by north 3NT by south all pass Lead 5 of spades (1) Opening 1NT have many merits as compared to 1♥:it is descriptive: you aviod the awkward situation when partner respond 1nt to an opening 1H;concealment of the five card major may work to your advantage making west harder to compete in spades. (2)based on a 15-17 1nt opening The early play 5 of spades and dummy 9 is covered by 10 and won by Q. First look Declarer notes that although there are 9 hearts in the two hands,3nt is at least as good a contract as four hearts. However the spades are probaly 5-3 or 6-2 so South cannot afford to lose the lead. Solution: There is no good reason for south to reject the heart finnese. If the king is wrong he will go down at once , but if East have the Kx or Kxx, he will make the contract easily. But another possiblity must be considered, East haveng K10xx.? [hv=n=sj96h7542daq10cq53&w=sa8752hdj96cj8642&e=sk103hk1086d7532ck9&s=sq4haqj93dk84ca107]399|300|[/hv] To pick up hearts without loss when the cards lie as above south need 3 entries to dummy. Since two diamond tricks will be enough for game, assuming 5 tricks can be made in hearts South should begining by overtaking the King diamond with the ace and finese the jack heart. When west discards a club. South can now finnese the jack of diamonds of an additional entry to dummy and end up with 10 tricks. To begin with a low diamond to the Queen is not good, because west may be smart enough to insert the jack on the next round blocking the entry-finesse.
