I have a question. What is the use in bidding 1H-1nt-2c-3H = for invitation with 6 spades? Why not 1h-1s-2c-3H= invitation? If 4 spades, maybe 1nt better. But if 5+ spades, always 1s first i think.

1. I told u, the condition is that "my pd is weaker than me." If i let him play, i will get crazy. I still remembered how he made a very cold 3nt down. Also u can check Zia's hands. He often opens 1nt with singleton. 2. I repeated again, if 1453, GIB would first bid 1D. if 3550, he would bid 3D if 11- HCP. If 1543, he will bid 1nt i believe. Don't u think if north passed 2c, east would bid 2D in the balanced place? i believe that in the book, 2c here should show 6+C. 2D just to block opps' bid and let pd choose to play a contract. OK. I would like to tell you, if my pd is weaker than me, i will always open 1nt to make sure i am declarer so that pd won't make me crazy. Even with human, i would open 1nt this hand. That is all. You can always check others' bidding to see how they bid. I remember this hand, i opened 1nt and 1nt+2. Some reached 3nt. Now even with humans, if opps are not top players, i also open 1nt with 5413 14 HCP, etc.

Anyway it is best hand style. So if you have 4 H with 12 HCP, according to total trick theory, if opps 4s make, 4h only -1 or -2. (it depends on how many S opps have) If you have 2 H, but 18+ HCP, 4h will still makes because of the power of the hand. But I don't know when GIB will take out your X and when he will pass.... In most cases, he will take out my X if opps can't make, and he will pass my X if opps can make... lol. So i don't like X opps' contract lol.

Make sure you really want to be TD. It is not for fun, it is to offer others enjoyable games. And it is not an easy task. I even don't like hosting a TM. Every time if i don't have enough friends, i pick unknown players. They will run if his pd does sth very wrong. TO BCTR: I find that some TDs are in favor of USA players. So next time u can put USA flag when playing ACBL games. :)

always difficult to handle this kind of hands with GIB. For me, i bid 1nt with south hand. Because if pd has 0-6, i don't think 3nt will make. Remember, GIB doesn't lead normally! I must hope pd has S and D stopper and if so, he will probably raise to 3nt or invite. As south has 14 HCP, if west has 10 HCP, he will X 1nt and i will be happy to play 1ntX. The only annoying thing is that GIB will transfer to H if he has H and i have to play H with 5-1.

As a mathematician, i always analyse my results and try to make sure that my strategy is the best mathematically. For ex, assume a player's average score is 7000 in 25 mins and can PLAY 30 hands (do NOT count in all pass hands.) So he can get 233 every hand. If he opens 1Nt with 15-17, assume he can make 40% 3nt with that opening. Then in no vul, the expectation is below 233. So he should NOT open 1nt in no vul. In vul, the expectation is 240. Just a little higher, so u still should NOT open 1nt. You can make many calculations like that. Anyway i always make a lot of calculations and analyse my results. Unfortunately, we don't have hands record. i must do this after every race. I have many interesting calculations..... Maths is in our daily life :).

I think everyone has his own strategy. I really want to watch Leo's screen to see how fast he plays. I have tried his way but failed. (Cannot play as fast as him.) And he claimed that he could play faster than GIB. For me, the more GIB plays, the more hands i get. For the report, i think leftfoot's answers are very useful. Leo uses his unique way to win.
