I agree. Do you know that such a champion like Boris Becker was not able to win a single ATP tournament on the clay court during his whole professional career? not even a $100 000 one in Casablanca or Estoril. Ivan Lendl in his best time dominated all, but these 2 weeks in Wimbledon were a kind of nightmare for him, he acted often helpless vs these all "serve and volley guys". John McEnroe im Paris? not much better. etc etc.... Robert

No surprise, Water Cooler's Academy of Sciences works as always fast and precise

Watching matches with absolute world class teams, where in the end nuances deciding about win and loose, I have a subjective feeling that the performance in the defense plays a main role, that there are the most problems players have to think about. Robert

Cooking makes sometimes fun, I spend mostly 2-3 Saturday afternoons in month preparing my favourite dishes which takes > 1h.

Making my favourite spaghetti sauce "alla Bolognese" takes me between 2,5-3 hours, At the first look an easy and fast receipt, but all these small details done in the "right time" bring foremost the result I am full satisfy with. ( after years of trying :P Unfortunately in this case...after freezing and warming up, the taste is different, not so much but I dont like it this way. Robert

and what about the US youth? Does the soccer become significant growth in the high schools and colleges or is still far, far behind traditional US-sports?
-
yeah, I hoped they save the tie till the overtime, but the pressure was too big.

Team USA dances samba with Brazilians, 2-0 after 30mins :)
-
German state bookmaker pays €6 for 1 ( if USA will win after 90 mins), €3,55 for a tie game, €1,30 if Brasil will win..

Team Brasil did not show by far it best performance, but one fantastic shooted free kick by Alves was enough to get to the final. Well done team SA!

I took a look at the current FIFA Ranking, these points will be not enough to be seeded as a head of the group, but it is pretty sure that the team USA will be drawn in a second "8-teams-pool">>> should help a lot to avoid 2 other very strong opponents in the own group. Robert

Because there is a huge difference between preparation for a minor exhibition tournament like this one and the World Championships. The soccer season in Europe will finish earlier next year, so there will be enough time for regenerating. Also I see the difference between the past major tournaments where the spanish team showed very often deficits in tactical discipline and fitness. Both were significant improved in last years, we saw it during the last European Championships. So if they will able to keep it on high level, I see them as a top pretender to win WC. Robert

Amazing, the usa is beating someone in Football? Wow! Someone? They have won vs a team which was unbeaten in last 35 matches. But most of the spanish players had to be enormous tired after this very long soccer season, Champions League inclusive. Next year, same time, we will see this team in a top trim.

The timinig is not so important, but the content. He cares not to give the iranian opposition unintentionally smthg like a verbal "Kiss of Death".

Would you care if vugraph was not live?
Aberlour10 replied to fred's topic in General BBO Discussion
I agree 100% with this, IMO the most entertaining and exciting part of vugraph is when someone tanks which decides a match, or the comments at the table during the hand. I realize the security concerns with it, but I think vugraph would lose it's popularity significantly. Yes; I have personally many such unforgetable moments at the VG, from BB finals or ...f.ex. last hand of the US Bridge Championships final 2006, the minutes full of emotions, tentions, watching the development in both rooms, amazing contraction between operator, commentators and kibbers culminating in waiting for the deciding bid made by M. Rosenberg.... this was like a fascinating radio-broadcast of penalty-shooting in soccer. Do I remember this moment if it would be non-live broadcasted, I dont think so. Sorry Fred for evoking this moments, you later described as a "Cincinetti Kid feeling" B) Robert -

I would miss f. ex. all these "small things" that happen at the table and are live commentate by the operator, there are many, many hands, where this "feeling" makes the broadcast really exciting. Robert -

Customs Finds $134 Billion in a Suitcase
Aberlour10 replied to Aberlour10's topic in The Water Cooler
I just have found a few new details to this story ( in german online editions of serious newspapers ): - there are first laboratory analyses (stated by Italian treasury authorities) about used paper etc and the bank documentations about the "way" that these certificates made from origin. I think we will know the whole truth about this issue very soon. -

So far I know US Treasury sells bonds in auctions ( in tranches like this 500 millions) I cant imagine that there are any global certifikate/document on this tranches. From the home page of the US Treasury FAQs If such a documents do not exist at all, italian customs and treasury would view immediately their authenticity similar to view a 15-US$ banknote. But yes, it all sounds very strange. -
Meanwhile in the experts opinion these US--Bonds and the approperiate bank documantation seems to be authentic. According to Italian law the state could fine the men 40% of the seized money. A nice surprising money jab for the state budget
