  1. Thanks Tola, I am in the process of uploading files for people that attend our face to face meetings, I do not disagree that there is room for an introduction, that will come in time, at the moment, I just wanted some feed back on the layouts and general helpful ideas to improve the information I am making available. Just for your info, Andrew Kambites is a nice chap who teaches bridge in England, when I have decided the best layout, then the pages will be renamed something suitable and an introduction added.
  2. HI all, would any of you care to take a look at my website, I am in the process of uploading a lot of acol based notes onto my website for anyone to view, I would like some feed back (my opinion of my own work is probably different from how others see it) From the Home page go to "Andrew Kambities" and "Andrew Kambites different design" pages ( you will have to go back to the home page to get to either link) The "Andrew Kambites different design" I have not completed the work on this page (due to it being time consuming and I would like some opinions before I convert all the links, BUT the first column is how it will be presented to the public Some of the questions I would like answers to Do you like either layout? and your prefence Do you think the index page is a good idea on the "Andrew Kambites" page? Do you think the "Andrew Kambites different design" page is easier for anyone to use? Do you think I should put the files in order of how they should be taught (this is a comment from a teacher I would like other opinions on this, also I would like some opinions as to what would be the correct order) Colour scheme? after these questions, I am happy for suggestions as to how to do it, if you feel I have totally missed an opportunity, weekendbridge
  3. Not having played too much live bridge, I have found that on occasions a director has ben called, there was no real issue, nice explanations and a pleasant attitude at the table ensued. The few times that there was an issue, was caused by the attitude of the moron calling for the director, they were just asses and it was they way they did it that caused the bad feeling at the table not the fact that they were calling the director. Social bridge is played by social players at any level, even very competitive bridge is social bridge if you have a nice table full of people A good TD with people skills will put everyone at ease and no one should complain, they should get full explanations and there is a consistancy in thier handling of situations. Only non social bridge I ever played has been with non social players People are the issue not the rules
  4. Funny old world it was Michelle Brunner and John Holland I was watching this is their bidding Tony. I have no idea what agreements they have in this particular case, I am just curious about how to respond to quantative bids [hv=d=s&v=e&n=s6hq6532dt865ct63&w=skt752ha97dq7ca74&e=sa8hk8daj942ckqj9&s=sqj943hjt4dk3c852]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - - Pass 1NT Pass 2NT Pass 3♦ Pass 4NT Pass 5♠ Pass 6NT Pass Pass Pass
  5. 3) Why have you denied a max hand? You can still have a max hand without a good fit, with which you would raise. Can you still have xxx in ♦? Jxx? Qxx? QJx? xxxx? Those would all be reasons to accept if you aren't min. I said both, not one or the other
  6. Hi I just watched this bidding 1NT 12-14 2NT diamonds 3 D 4NT alerted as Quantative irrespective if what the hands are what should partner do when faced with 4NT quantative bid questions I have How to sign off? should I bid key card? what do I need to raise to slam after denying a good diamond fit and a max hand? any other thoughts on this please let me know as I do find quantative bids confusing at times
  7. Hi Fred, I am using the beta version and I have come across something I find unsettling, I am playing in Calabres tourney today (at the moment actually) anbd at the 3rd hand in two rounds, claims have been made and accepted, BUT, the cards remain showing and you cannot (well I can't seem to work out how) clear them from the table, also it does not show that the claim has been accepted. I just find this a little odd, I am sure I can get used to it, but, I would prefer the cards clear when claim has been ac cepted or at least I am told it has been accepted
  8. A very good method for getting this right is, insert all beers in the freezer, go back in 10 minutes and open 1 beer and drink it, (decide how cold it is), go back, 10 minutes later. open and drink another beer (decide how cold it is), keep repeating this exercise until you are satisfied the beer is cold enough. with methods like this, there is no reason for a scientific explanation. (Helene, you really overcomplicate such a simple thing as beer temperature) try my method, it is not only more accurate it is a lot more fun.
  9. http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail?cod...iscussion&it=le I watch this site daily, as I work for the company on this page, but the have a vote for each post button, it does not stop stupid posts (I do not ever post here btw, so not as many silly posts as you would imagine:), but all you have to do is vote it up or down, that way there is no need to post I agree etc etc
  10. Have you tried the airforce test yet?
  11. I googled this, it may answer the question http://www.green-energy-efficient-homes.co...off-lights.html
  12. Maybe this is the issue (I have a great deal of respect for BBO and would not critisie them for thier decision), But, I actually can see this guys point, we all hate being ignored (if this is the case, if it is not the case, then I am not sure what OP is trying to achieve) Or maybe the OP needs to grow up and learn to take "No" as an answer. You don't know what the situation is, Wayne (I don't either), but maybe they've already answered him early on and now don't want to deal with the hounding so ignore him? who knows. as far as I am concerned, if you have some sort of a privilege and overstep certain boundaries, you forfeit your right to that privilege and it is well within the granting agent's rights to permanently deny it to you. Grovelling and complaining should not have an impact on this decision. can't argue with your logic

  18. if declarer has singleton Q he has to over take or lose his second !C trick , so I see no advantage if declarer has Qx or Qxx of clubs he can make anyway. so only need to keep KX pard likes diamonds so if he has k spades he cab get in and play to my diamond holding so I discard First signal card high Diamond to say I like Diamonds, then another diamond the low one then 2clubs and a spade discard also, if pard has Qx clubs and declarer plays clubs first, ( no idea how likely that is) he knows to lead diamonds I suppose mps or imps change things, if kx clubs loses first and opp makes all them over tricks, you would be screwed, but I cant see another way to set it (by discarding anything else)
  19. Ron, lend him your suit please :)
