There is another scenario: Declarer makes a claim which is declined and as a result second guesses him/herself and proceeds to make the WRONG inference from the refusal of the claim and goes down. I made a post a long time ago demonstrating such a hand I played but my post history doesn't go back that far unfortunately.

You can explain TCR going down if exactly 60 days ago you completed say 10 tourneys in one day and since then you've been playing casually, quitting one or two matches here and there for whatever reason. Now all of a sudden 60 days later those 10 tourneys go out of the 'window' so to speak in one day and your TCR calculation will go down accordingly even though you never quit anything at all in the last couple of days.

Thank you.

Please could somebody reset my Bridge Master progress on BBO? Notably from Advanced onwards as I recently completed all the intermediate but the Advanced are still marked as done from years previous. I would like to do those problems again. I tried clearing cookies but that doesn't seem to work. Thank you.

Funny I was just booted mid-hand while in dummy watching my Robot partner. First time it's happened in years. Can happen if you stay in another browser tab for too long as well (Firefox). It's like the actions are buffered on the server side but the client isn't alive to process them so you get disconnected. Stars play for free don't they? Maybe they're trying to attract more signups for extra commission. This still happens in the free express tourneys all the time, worst in the ones that don't have a TCR requirement. I suggested implementing a reserve list a long time ago for people that actually want to play.

T is useful for encoding playing cards into text but for display is it "10"? Had to check to be sure. I think in BBO you can write T!d for the diamond 10.

Mozilla Firefox works for me.

I play a lot of Express tourneys, a few a day and managed 100% TCR once. It only takes one thing to ruin a run within a 60 period, be it a powercut, lag, a delivery, an important phone call or even me totally forgetting to play when in another browser tab or making food. I wrote a desktop alarm app that will go off when a tourney starts to help with that.

Apparently typing "zzz" to the table, something that had been normal to me in all my years of online bridge, when someone is taking an inordinate amount of time is worth a lifetime blacklist right out of the blue.

keep players focused on whose turn it is
Gazumper replied to maxclarke's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Hopefully that should help stop TDs booting the wrong player, often the slow player plays just as the TD arrives at the table and the following player gets booted if they take more than 3 seconds. -
It's weird because when BBO began and was growing I had my skill level in my own words as "Hobby level". After some years I changed it to one of the preset levels and regret doing so because I could never change it back.

https://tinyurl.com/yatlxqvb Strange that GIB decided to keep the ♦J at the end after I'd thrown ♦KQ from dummy.

Did it once when I was trying to play fast and it hurt. Never again.

I play express tournies a lot and I'm finding I'm getting booted more often when I temporarily switch to another browser tab. Other times I'll switch back to my game after a few seconds and see the dealing animations catching up while I've got 6 seconds left to make my play, booted again. There is also not always a sound warning from the BBO tab when it's my turn. I use the latest Firefox browser with the content process limit set to 8 (default).

inadvertent errors can't be fixed?
Gazumper replied to roninbc's topic in Suggestions for the Software
The experience burns, I only ever did it once. Windows has this thing where the clicks register on release so you can at least double check before letting go of the button. -
Making Bridge Master more user friendly
Gazumper replied to Khrystyna's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Prefer it as is otherwise it's too easy to be encouraged to retry with less thought until you stumble upon a line that works and you won't know the reason until you look at the author's solution. I'll hardly ever even use the Undo. -
Happened to me in the original version. The suits switched just as I fast clicked the opening lead, disastrously. One of those things I only ever did once though because it burns in the memory. It's fine as it is.

I'm getting disconnected back to the login screen while in another browser tab for short periods between hands. Especially annoying in Express tourneys when you find you've been kicked and lose some TCR%. Sound warnings can also lag, you hear the beep that it's your turn and when you switch you've been kicked. Using Firefox.

Maybe it's time to start getting used to the HTML5 version of Bridgebase.

This does happen and can be taken advantage of by a grumpy opponent but in my experience it's rare. If you get within the last 5 tricks GiB will play it out but that too can be taken advantage of because it seems to play to declarer's advantage with regards to finesses and squeezes etc. If the contract can be made GiB will make it.

The automated express tournaments seem to be dealing highly distributional hands. Has the goulash level been bumped? If so I think it should be mentioned in the description.

There seems to be a problem with some of the Ads in the ad bar. My CPU gets maxxed out and the game UI behaves strangely especially when the Ads switch for which the only workaround I've found is to resize the window when it happens. Sometimes you don't even know it's your turn until you come back and find you've been kicked. Today for the first time a series of mispositioned videos started playing with full sound in the Ad bar, the UI froze up and I was forced to logout and back in midhand to get it working again. There was no "Report this Ad" button in the Ad. The browser I am using is the latest version of Firefox Quantum 57 (32-bit) Windows 7 and I have whitelisted BBO Ads. When blacklisted the UI also behaves strange not matching the mouseclicks with where the pointer is.

Bidding Problems for I/N players Part 23
Gazumper replied to Kaitlyn S's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
Nice puzzles I got most of them, could you clarify the term "Advancer" please? -
GIB can be exploited in that way. Any human would play the ♠T since it costs nothing and hope for a mistake, South cannot claim 13 tricks until it plays a few cards. One way I've had fun with GIB is to open 2♣ with a Yarborough and pass whatever partner bids, it can throw GIB right off and get a top score. It can also go bad of course.
