  2. [hv=pc=n&s=sak75hkj963dkca32&w=sqjt42hdat754ct54&n=sha8542dj32ckq976&e=s9863hqt7dq986cj8]399|300[/hv] I won't explain what actually happened, since a) partner has way too much for 4H, and b) some of the later bidding from partner was suicidal in the extreme, but partner doesn't need very much here for 5H to be good, and at the vulnerability I didn't think we'd get rich defending 4S X.
  3. Interesting. Suppose instead of bidding 4H, partner bids 4C, fit-jump. What would you try now?
  4. [hv=pc=n&s=sak75hkj963dkca32&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=1h2h4h4s]133|200[/hv] 2H was weak or strong Michaels' What say you here? Supplementary question to follow...
  5. A quick aside, presumably 4D is 100% forcing? That being the case, surely North can be a great deal weaker than her actual hand... e.g. xxxxx x xxx xxxx?
  6. [hv=pc=n&s=sakhaqjt54daq964c&n=s7643h62dkt852c76&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=2cp2h3c3h4cpp4dp5dppp]266|200[/hv] 2C was strong and artifical, 2H was an artificial negative (0-3 ish). Who is most to blame for missing the good 6D?
  7. I must admit I have never felt the need to discuss how to bid 30 point hands with any of my partners.
  8. Now I double. I have this set in my own hand, with no safety at the 5 level. Partner could be completely broke over there.
  9. Even opposite this rubbish overcall, 6D has chances (clubs 3-3 and getting diamonds right.
  10. The reason I bid 1♠ is because I'm not ashamed of my hand here. I want partner to compete if he holds 4 spades and a non-minimum, and bidding spades makes it harder for them to find a heart fit. The chances of going for a number in 1S X are very small IMO.
  11. What would 5NT be? GSF? Pick a slam? I like pick a slam here...
  12. I remember getting told off by the England U25 coach for bidding 3D on these hands with 7 diamonds, let alone 6. Pass, pass & pass some more.
  13. First rule of being sensible - don't punt slams when you're not sure what's going on. Hence I tried 5C. If this is meant to be a splinter agreeing some suit or other, then at least we've found a playable spot and partner may be able to raise if slam's there and at least we know he has clubs...
  14. 5D seems too much, with too much defence against their 4M. Neither 3 or 4 diamonds appeal either, so 1D.
  15. When I view the forums on my mobile, I have no option to post. I'm using Android if it helps.
  16. [hv=pc=n&s=sk72haq8dat83c985&w=saj95hkt42djckjt7&n=sqt8643hj53d2c642&e=sh976dkq97654caq3&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=1cp1dp1hp2sp3sp3np4sd5ddppp]399|300[/hv] 5D X went 1 down, which wasn't a very good score. Who's to blame?
  17. Hand 1 7H seems a reasonable punt. You'll probably be guessing at some point anyway. Hand 2 I bid 5D. Might make 6, might go down in 5
  18. (1H) 1NT (P) P (2D) P (P) 2H What should this mean?
  19. Agree with hrothgar. Stop me if I'm wrong, but likely 19 total tricks?
  20. 1st point - if I'm not going to jump shift on these cards, with good 5 card support for partner, a side suit with a source of tricks and first round controls in all other suits, when are you going to jump shift? 2nd point This was partner's hand. We had a misunderstanding in bidding the grand, but bid it anyway. How would you bid it?[hv=pc=n&n=sak63h6daqj53c952]133|100[/hv]
  21. [hv=pc=n&s=sha93dk8642cakq63&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1dp3cp3sp4dp4np]133|200[/hv] 3C was a strong jump shift. 4NT is 0314 RKCB What say you here?
  22. 3NT. Might be wrong, but if we're ever going to play 3NT someone has to bid it, and this is our only opportunity. As to whether I sit if it gets doubled is another question.
  23. I voted that I would only open the last one (mostly because of the rebid issues), but I've been convinced that in 2/1 pass is definitely correct.
  24. Given I'm vul against not and the queen of diamonds is waste paper, I don't have that much more than I initially promised. If we are meant to play this one, partner should bid. If the minors we reversed (and RHo was bidding clubs) I could try 2D, but this isn't worth the 3 level by itself.
  25. OK, if I was told 2H is, and was described as natural, and partner jumped out of the blue to 4S, I would pass because 1) I don't what partner is doing, and 2) I really don't see that 5D/H is likely to be any better. It isn't as though one of the opponents has bid spades. If partner think's he's raising my spades, then that might make it more likely for me to try something else (5D and a wing and a prayer I guess). Therefore, I think that passing is an LA.
