ACBL TD ruling

Thank you very much for the information Fred. I thought I remembered HG had played on same team as MR at least once. I looked up USBF for more info and found this interesting about team constitution for the future. Maybe somebody else than me will find the info interesting too. http://usbf.org/index.php?option=com_conte...ask=view&id=141 I certainly understand you have no authority to disclose private information. I am informed of circulation of some different system approaches with Eric Greco as co-author. So I think it was right to give it a try. It is always interesting to have a bit inside information. -
As I informed in another thread(50:50) about this Jbridge has introduced a feature for something like that. I think it might be interesting to study to explore how such can be implemented and what it goes for.

Sorry I dont understand this - I simply dont know what NASCAR is - LOL. If there are any differences between Hampson-Greco and Rodwell-Meckstroth I think they are very small. I have not been able to discover them. But what I know is they stripped exactly the same features both pairs before starting Bermuda 2006. Meckstroth-Rodwell and Hampson-Greco use completely different response structures to their strong 1C openings. HG play 1C-1H=8-11 (art) and all other positive responses are 12+ whereas most of MR's positive responses to 1C start at 8 HCP (and are artificial). In general MR have a lot more agreements than HG - probably if you were to print out system notes for both pairs you would need 10 times as much paper for MR's. Fred Gitelman Bridge Base Inc. www.bridgebase.com I see correct Fred. I have never noticed - I have never suspected it could be so. Not possible to print notes for Hampson-Greco. I have none. Will you be able to provide some notes as I would very much like to create files for Hampson-Greco system? Looks like the rest of HG system as openings are according to Meckwell. Is the HG approach new because they have switched to Team Ekeblad or was the approach over 1♣ also to be applied as they played at Nickell Team? -
Playing offensive with pass-systems is no problem - as 3-4 seat openings are to be used. Pass openings themselves are manually alerted. Quite different it is to play defensive to a pass-opening. Here FD displays offensive bidding where it ought to be defensive. This means everything is turned upside-down. As long as user-rate for FD is very low it causes few problems. Playing 'Silny Pas tourney' it is really a problem. Several of the poles playing Mapasso, Lambda and BezNazwy are good at alerting using script-files. Some of them has migrated into the advanced form using FD application. Ironically such creates problems because the pass opening is not available in FD. The emulation only works for offensive bidding but is pure rubbish in defensive. The simple solution to the problem would of course be to see to that pass-opening would be an option in FD. I would very much like to have an indication whether it is going to come or I will need to create special convention cards which have the bids turned upside-down and therefore the need constantly to switch convention card for every deal.

Might be correct with no brown-sticker. I checked with BD and there are no specific reference to brownsticker for that feature. I thought I remembered correct because it was stripped in 2006 as they changed the rules for brownsticker. In fact I use the brown-sticker alert in Bocchi-Duboin FD-file. Maybe that is an un-necessary approach. I will study and consider to correct. Thank you for the hint Frances. -

I believe you are not looking at their system notes (which they keep under lock and key - these run hundreds of pages and nobody has these on the net), but instead their cc notes, which are quite terse and I suggest you not use these to derive much system stuff. Also note this Meckwell move: after a big club opening, in a forcing pass situation: Pass asks for a double (unless partner would not pass a penalty double). Double shows doubt (i.e. two-way values). Bids show that suit. Pass (forcing to double) and then bid shows that suit and another suit. As I said before Glen I trust you - so no point in trying to rally me. I don't recall any qoute from you indicating you have something real for your statement. The rumours about 800 hidden pages I don't trust. From Meckwell notes I can see that pair is one of very few really keen to disclose their methods best possible - in fact second to none. Pass asks for a double (unless partner would not pass a penalty double). Double shows doubt (i.e. two-way values). Pass (forcing to double) and then bid shows that suit and another suit These 3 above I doubt as they indicate inverted doubles - brownsticker features. Such is restricted unless disclosed. As far as I can see it is not disclosed. Bocchi-Duboin played that but has been forced to strip this strong feature due to tightening the rules for Bermuda Bowl 2006. I trust you on the basis that Meckwell Club is a very special construction - and I am not convinced it really qualify as a precision approach. But that doesn't matter much. -
I also use Windows Defender. Looks like solid part of Vista project. Here two links for good free software downloads: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/ http://www.download.com/

Adam I very much agree but unlike you the arguments are for me no incentive trying to fight inventions. They are challenges - challenges we need to deal with and to overcome. There are no options just to continue - the death will be inevitable. I think we agree that the task trying to avoid the death is worth fighting. Adam you seems to focus on a specific application. FD is today a creative model, a model which explain how relation databases are working. This is important to all the many who are very scared of the future. FD will be much different if it is going to be used for general purposes, first and most about audience features but of course something about typing will be enhanced too. FD as you know it today is a very simple construction - in fact an example of what simple software can produce. Say it is 80-20 rule and you will be right. The beginning is to wake the sleepy people or skip them! -

No No - I ought to say Paul - the Goren book(Contract bridge complete) I looked up said Pass=Nothing to say. So 1-0 for you :P By that time we didn't use books very much and english was no language of any kind of interest to any dane. Maybe difficult to understand today - but those days before globalisation are not so very far away. -

Claus you slay me. Stay away from the BI section for awhile would you? Thanks. Pass says "nothing to say". MikeH might say this is a conversion of a double (would you dude?) but otherwise it is a neutral call. Oh please - what I try say is completely basic. I was 40 years ago teached this I think 2nd evening. I have noticed it is not common knowledge in BBO Forum. I checked this with Goren and here it looks like there must have been other schools where I was raised than in USA. International get together have some adventurous advantages. Some years ago I was informed that KS(Kaplan-Sheinwold) was a beginner system in Midwest USA. Difficult for me to imagine as we by that time played original Goren(4 card major) and nothing else. -

Takeout doubles are very often lazy bids. If you therefore intend to provide your opinion of this lazy bid to your partner - you only need to pass as you actually did. From your revealing it is clear the takeout double really was a lazy bid. In any other case you must come up with something. The cheapest bid is NEXT. NEXT will in such delicate interference sequences mean 'Herbert Negative - 0-5HcP,any distribution.' Here you have 6HcP and no attractive holding. Therefore 1♠ is correct. All other bids than NEXT shows some relevant values. -

Certainly it is critical but not necessary to the pair in question. It is based on a general distrust of solid behavior by the majority and therefore I try to be helpful. I think I have good reasons for a general distrust. -

Ron but also for Helene. I have stated earlier that nobody comes along me bidding 2♦ without explanation. I tried to exemplify that referring to poles and Wilkosz. Then some think I am talking about a convention but I only mentioned the convention because earlier some has suggested racial discrimination referring to poles. All too many seems to be obsessed by something preventing a real debate clarifying the intensions. Text-study instead of studying the meaning looks often to me to what is happening here. It is not rude to draw opps.' attention to what is good practice in a simple manner. If it is rude to be helpful nowadays I admit I am a bit old fashioned. The hard way is the one preferred from thread starter here. -

And the EBU: The principal difference in approach appears to be it is recognised in England that asking questions provides UI and hence you are advised not to ask if it would prejudice your own rights. The difference in approach to asking about alerted calls is born out by my limited experiences when playing in the US. People ask far more questions during the auction than they do in the UK. Paul It suggests that the player’s action at the current turn depends on the answer to the question. In particular, if a player asks a question and then passes, he has shown an interest in taking some other action had the player received a different answer No he has not - he has shown interest in clarification and nothing else. I try to use this also to draw the attention to opps. that their handling is not solid. It is the first phrase about selfprotection which is important. Whether you can ignore and then put the blame on TD. Looks like such is at least assumed to be poor sportmanship - thats what I have advocated and what some seems to blame me for. -

I don't understand your point Frances. As I understand you it is a lot of lines inserting exactly the same info - you only need to paste your RKCB feature for those sequences. To me it looks like the only problem is to find the sequences. Posting those here is likely to be more time consuming than just paste them. It is impossible for me to see whether this info is important or not. There is always a point to stop prepared info. -

In Vancouver Steve Job today presented Apples offer for a new version of a compact internet mobil phone. http://images.apple.com/iphone/images/indexhero20070109.jpg Link to Apple presentation site in english language The info from CES seems to indicate that a lot of company's in the coming days will be ready to introduce new kind of advances mobil phones with flash harddrives, Nokia, Motorola, Yahoo, Microsoft, Cisco. Will be very interesting to see whether somebody will be able to explore the options and relate those for bridge. -

Steelwheel I assume I have no problems to read your intensions for this post. I have stated you were right claiming an alert was needed and it was harmful to you it was missing and you would be right claiming score correction. What I also said, some others agreed to my position, you ought at least to have the knowledge to be suspicious of the meaning and therefore you are to be blamed for ignoring or lack of knowledge. I have advocated you waste your bids for nothing - for that you don't need to listen but I think you will privately. -
Communicating to Club in 5.0.3 is displayed to all inclusive players at other tables. Very distracting for them I was informed as I advertised for opps. in Masters Club. I instead needed to advertise in lobby as earlier - but they cannot see the table in Main club and are very confused.
